18 Jan 2013: directed here by the staff in ’Alfies’ which is a few yards away on the corner of 53rd and 9th. I prefered Aflies to be honest! Anyway this place was fine, helpful serving staff and a good selection of taps: sadly none from any state I hadn’t already had a beer from. The two beers I did have were both in excellent order as were the ’Salsa and Chips’. All in all a pleasant little bar with a friendly vibe to it: sadly we had to leave early though, our ship was only in town for the day and I needed to buy some bottles for the sea days ahead.

Visited just the once - May ’10 after a walk in Central Park. It was a Saturday afternoon/evening around 5/6pm. The joint was pretty quiet but there were one or two folks sat around the bar as we were. Solid enough, if unspectacular tap line, comprised largely of east coast stalwarts. Service was fine - they were under no pressure mind! Decent enough bar, would’t go oout of the way for it as a beer destination but if you are heading back from a walk in Central park it links in on the way to the (original) Pony Bar.

Basic midtown bar with sky high midtown prices for a decent selection, mostly from familiar breweries with a few noteworthies. We were served the wrong beer and realized it. I was surprised when we weren’t comped the drink and/or the bartender just poured the perfectly good beer down the drain.

The service at this place is incredible. Upon entering, the bartender immediately pours a water, sets it down, and then gives you time to pick out a beer. Speaking of beer, the selection is great. Pricing is moderate, nothing outstanding. Food is decent but nothing to write home about. Very chill place, and also, the music is great.

Very good selection. Menu was appetizer only but what we had was very tasty. Service was good but they weren’t busy. My favorite part was that all beers were served in perfectly appropriate glassware.

Good beer on tap, not ridiculously overpriced, and not packed with people I hate. A good place to have a beer or several, but service can be a bit slow

Not a bad place. Decent selection with good service. The prices however seem to be a bit high for the area. Most taps are $8 with about 3 shitty beers on special for $5 Pony Bar is a pretty close walk and a far better value. That being said, I only stopped in for a few pints, so I didn’t mind spending a little money on some new beers. Not the type of place I would stop by regularly though.

a lot of wood in a corner bar of about moderate size for NYC, ,maybe 30’ X 30’. taps along the far wall and full bar with some bottles. Packed for the 9th ave food festival. Finding it’s way into the mix there are some small tables and such. Median in most ways. clean glasses. Tourists and new arrivals.

I’m a frequenter. Great atmosphere with dim lights (but not so dark you can’t see) fitting the viking motif, and music that is good but is not blasting, so you can still have a conversation. It never gets extremely crowded unless it’s late on a Friday or Saturday night, and even then, we’ve always wound up getting a table or seat at the bar. Servers have always been quick and friendly, but in a short kind of way where they smile and walk away after serving you, even if there is nobody else to wait on. Not very conversational, which is probably good. I’ve had food here only a couple times, but the wings are good and meaty (and cheap during late-night hours). As for the selection, some of the earlier ratings should really be updated (if possible) b/c they have long since done away with the duplicate taps. They now have 24 separate beers on tap at all times, and you can usually find a bunch of beers you have never tried. In short: a fun, clean bar with quick, friendly service and B+ selection. Nice neighborhood joint that I would recommend checking out next time you’re in town.

Drafts with some friends. Nice atmosphere, nice draft list (hill farmstead) and an okay bottle list.
