90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 18/20 Strebs (104) St. Louis, Missouri | April 21, 2013| Updated April 26, 2013 This place covers three great brewing traditions with one bar dedicated to Belgian beers, another basement area that simulates a German gasthaus, and the main bar area for American craft beers. Both the German and Belgian bars had the proper glassware. I was
particularly blown away by the friendliness
of the patrons and the bartenders, which was even better than the usual Midwestern standards. The beer selection was as good as is possible, and the food
was cheap, but disappointing. Highly
recommended for the beer and
camaraderie. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 jcnielsen (138) Kansas City, Missouri | September 26, 2012| Updated April 26, 2013 I love coming to this place. They have a German beer bar in the basement, a Belgian beer bar on the main floor, then the normal american beer bar as you walk in. Very cool concept, and then Beertopia is just next door, so it’s your one-stop beer location in Omaha. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 16/20 The_Chad (10) Omaha, Nebraska | May 1, 2012| Updated April 26, 2013 The Moon is a great bar and I wish I could rate each of its 3 bars differently.
The beer selection is generally amazing. Max and Joe’s hosts some great Belgian beers you are often unlikely to find anywhere else on tap. The atmosphere in that room is usually very different than the rest of the building. Much more mellow, more intimate, and lots of beer geeks. The bartenders in here are usually very well seasoned and knowledgeable about all the beers. Love that bar!
The Crescent Moon has a ton of taps of varying styles sure to please anyone’s palate. Of the 30 or more taps they have, there is generally a few gems that you’ll see the beer geeks/snobs huddling around :) Beers that you will rarely see at any other bar in town if at all. The staff is usually very friendly and helpful though not everyone can be a beer zealot, they are fairly knowledgeable and are more than willing to give you a sample to help you find the right beer for your mood. Depending on the events and the night it can get a little crazy in there (which from a business standpoint is great) but can get overwhelming and loud.
The Huber Haus is from what my German exchange student said "This is exactly like the bar in my hometown!" It sounds better with a German Accent... Great tap beers, great bottles, good prices. The bartenders are usually very well versed in their wares and more than happy to assist you. The food is good. The use of different glasses is nice. It is great to snag a booth with some friends and share a boot of beer. Weekday nights are generally the best to get great service (as with most bars) but in particular because you have mug club events on Wednesdays and the hall will be filled with the merriment of beer lovers. Weekends can get some rowdy frat guys in there trying to chug a boot on their own. But overall, a regular bar in my beer bar rotation!
A great craft beer bar along some other greats like Jake’s and Krug Park in Benson, Library Pub in North West Omaha, Brass Monkey in South Omaha, and The Lauter Tun in West Omaha. | 78 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 chicowv (6) Canaan Valley, West Virginia | February 25, 2012| Updated April 26, 2013 Crescent Moon was recommended by the knowledgable staff next door at Beertopia. The atmosphere is great, cool. little pub. I never made it downstairs to the German pub or to the Belgian style pub but was able to order a beer from the Belgian side. Tap selection was pretty good, definitely representative of the region. I ordered the Rueben on a recommendation and was not disappointed. The corned beef was top notch! Not far from the airport and easy to find. I stopped again on my return trip to the airport and had a few more drafts. I will definitley stop here again if in Omaha. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 8/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | February 4, 2012| Updated April 26, 2013 At least three bars wrapped up in one: a Belgian bat with half a dozen taps, and American craft bar with more than a dozen taps, and a German beer bar that I didn’t try. Great service, good prices. Folks were drinking the. Raft beer by the pitcher, I’m not sure why. | 86 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 18/20 csaso (129) Missouri | December 6, 2011| Updated April 26, 2013 First time here, very cool place. Has 3 different areas: one for craft brews, one for German beers, and one for Belgian beers. Pretty good prices too. Didn’t try the food this time. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 troyc (147) Oklahoma | July 11, 2011 I visited Huber Haus and was very impressed. Great selection of German beers that are very well priced. About a dozen taps that were mostly Bavarian styles and very few pilsners. Didn’t try the food, but it looked decent. Upstairs, I walked past the main part of the bar and noticed quite a few US craft selections and local beers on tap. A good stop for sure. | 92 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 19/20 adnielsen (325) Fort Collins, Colorado | October 22, 2010| Updated April 11, 2011 This place is unbelievable! A German beer hall downstairs and a Belgian bar upstairs. On top of that, the selection is quite amazing. This is a must see in Omaha. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 5/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 troubles (122) Tel Aviv, Israel | October 14, 2010| Updated April 11, 2011 visited the place last December after my flight home was cancelled due to a snow storm. it’s actually 3 places (and a beer shop next door) with nice selection of local beer and foreign beers. If your in Nebraska, this is the place to be. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 15/20 msante79 (335) Mount Prospect, Illinois | January 13, 2010| Updated April 11, 2011 Stopped in tonight for some dinner and some brews. Stayed in the Crescent Moon portion of the establishment. Sort of dive barish and really slow. Only 10 or so bar stools and all were full but there was about 20 tables and only 3 were full. Nice selection of taps. Escpecially for Nebraska. Food was decent but dirt cheap. Had burger and fries for under $6. Had a couple of average IPAs. Would go back and want to check out the Max and Joes part of the bar. Beer store next door was pretty damn impressive. |
