Always been one of my favs in the Phoenix metro. When I come, I mostly come during happy hour: discounted pints and discounted appetizers make the check a little less painful. I would opt for the seasonals instead of the standards, which tend to be a little on the generic side. The triple IPA is a personal favorite. Food is average to good. Big downside about this place is how small it is: tiny bar area and the main dining section does accommodate very many. Location is good though as it’s walkable from the light rail and not too far from Downtown Phoenix and Scottsdale. Servers tend to know the beers well but the service overall can be spotty when they get busy.

Stopped here for lunch and brews in January ’13. Decent place, fairly clean. Great service and even got some free tasters. Selection was good but they were out of some of their regulars, they said the head brewer had some personal problems. They brought in some other breweries beers though to round out the tap list. Food was pretty good, brewpub food with a southwest flair. Value was about average. Definitely a place to stop if in the area.

A bit hard to find... very blah interior, reminded me of a cheap local bar... beer is ok, nothing at all special, two decent beers, but overall average... atmosphere is boring... wouldn’t head back here

A really cool brewery with some good beer and food. If it was closer to my house I would frequent all the time.

They seem to always have unique beers on-tap, even if their selection is somewhat limited. Sun Up almost certainly brews the best IPAs in Arizona; their food and service are also top of the game. The location is a little flustered, however: I past it several times trying to find the entrance. I finally did but it’s really hidden well.

I really liked this place after only one visit. I picked the PL up from the airport and went to Sun Up to meet a friend for lunch. I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the beers available, which included a cask of real ale. The food was very good on all three of our plates and service was excellent. I was even more surprised at the style selection when I met Uwe, the owner/brewer! I wouldn’t have expected a German brewer to be making West Coast-style ales - and excellent ones at that. I will visit Sun Up again when I’m next in PHX and wish Uwe all the best for success.

Really quaint place with a chill vibe. Amazing mural outside of old school movie stars. Small bar, exposed tanks, relaxed atmosphere. Uwe, the owner and brewer is in all the time which is cool. Can’t miss him...great guy! Usually have a seasonal and strong beer on tap in addition to their regular line-up. Their Triple IPA is incredible...if available, get it!

Fun place, good service. Very good food and beer. New stuff is always on tap.

The ambiance here is typical small brewpub. Tasteful 10 or 12 seat wooden bar, medium sized dining room and decor advertising Sun Up beer. The service was excellent on my Monday night visit. I wasn’t all that impressed with AZ beer during my visit. That being said, Sun Up had some of the more solid brews I drank. Two of their taps rotate, one of them being high alcohol. It definitely should be top priority to visit as far as brewpubs in Phoenix go.

Went for late night snakcs and sampler tray. Great service, food was good. Loved the place
