A dream come true! The Bear is happy times every time. My friends and I have made it an annual tradition when we’re in New England, visiting from Michigan. Very nice selection and you MUST try the chili fries. Good idea to get a taxi to/from this one, though. If only it were downtown!

Nice bar and selection. I was excited about this place because they have samplers of your choice. I wanted to try the local beers and this was a good place to do so. Food was good (sea food) and the ambiance was warm on a cold night before a big storm hit. Plenty of brews to select from beyond just the local brews. Overall great place and I’ll go again if ever back in the area.

Had been meaning to get here for awhile as i have friends in Portland and take trips every couple of months. It was much bigger than expected and they had a great selection of local beers that I have never had or seen before. Had a locals kind of vibe which was made clear to me when I went to the bar to order and was greeted with strange looks. All in all nice place with casual vibe and good beers.

Cool place, nice big bar, a bit too much of a TGI Friday’s feel in the dining areas, but not unbearable. Decent selection, although I was surprised at the omission of some great stuff, although I’m not completely sure of Maine’s distribution issues, so I was satisfied. Didn’t have any food,so can’t fairly rate it (although I did see an abundance of nachos with factory-made chips, and Sysco Foods boxes in the building...). Bottles of Maine Beer MO were almost 2 months old-not a good sign for a bar in the town where the beer is made...but the Peeper from the draft was exceptionally fresh, the Kipling cask was stellar, and Oxbow Farmhouse Pale was clean. No line funk that I could detect. Paid $20 for the above mentioned beers (including tip). very happy about that. Will definitely come back when I’m in Portland again.

You may not find that obscure beer you're looking for, but with more taps than I can count, you'll probably find something you like.

I love this place. Thursday nights are rockin. Great pub food, lots of local and unusual offerings (Allagash Alley), and a fun outdoor area for summer. You can usually find brewers from Allagash and Geary’s in here on weekdays. Great homebrew store next door as well. How I miss living in Portland.

Sizeable place once you get inside...dimly lit with a real backwoods maine feel...lots of vintage signs and trinkets and beer stuff. Extensive menu...lots of sandwiches. Great service and staff...very friendly...some cute servers. Very nice draft selection.

A big old style bar and restaurant not far from downtown Portland. Many taps, lots of selection of what comes through, not all of it great, but some of it not bad.

Nice beer selection, Fun Place. Friendly staff. Family Friendly as well. Biggest complaint is Parking. Have driven by without stopping more often than not because there was no place to park.

One of those places with a bunch of crap on the walls, I like that. Our server was excellent. Only got buffalo wing and they were okay. Great selection of local beers make this place completely worth it.
