There’s a very slick and sophisticated feel to the place that is not the slightest off-putting due to the friendliness of the staff. Bars in Utah are subjected to the draconian liquor laws of Deseret, and the consumers literally pay the price. If you can see past that, the prices are understandable, and you shouldn’t be bothered by it. Unfortunately, it really can limit what the selection that is available. Despite the limitations, the Beerhive offers a very nice selection is a great atmosphere...what more would anyone want?

How is this not one of the top places in Utah?? Great atmosphere, location, and staff. I mean, everyone here knew what was going on, and there was a lot of local stuff on tap. My favorite place in SLC.

For Utah this is probably as good as it gets outside of Epic and Uinta breweries. As with all taps in Utah everything poured is below 4% ABV so if you love big beers you have to stick with bottles. The selection of bottles is good but dominated by a few breweries (local and Westcoast). German food was great. The ice trough is kinda cool but I like my beer to open up so I didn’t use it. Also, many of the bottles are 22oz so this place is better with a friend.

Pretty nice place and downstairs is a good place to hang with friends. Fairly large selection of beers but only of a few styles. They don’t have some beers you would expect a bar to have as well.

Nice bar with a ice trough that keeps your beer cold all the way to the end. Very cool idea. The bartenders seemed to know the beers pretty good. Lots of Utah beers on tap and a impressive bottle list. I didn’t try the food. I’ll be back......

A failry nice, spacious beer bar in mid downtown. I’ve never really been here on a weekend night, mostly visited during happy hour times when it is somewhat slow. Stately and clean interior. Draft selection is fairly decent for the area. Bottle list is pretty good as well. Atmosphere is a bit classier than the Bayou, but the bottle list might not be quite as good. Prices are a bit higher than some places, as has been noted by other reviewers. The staff seems fairly knowledgeable. I only tried the food once from the Vienna bistro - it was pretty good, but it is a bit expensive and there is not a very large selection. Overall this is worth a visit if you are in SLC for a bit.

Located on West side of Main Street between the Edinburgh Castle and the Vienna Bistro. This narrow bar has one of the best selections of craft beer in the entire state of Utah, with a long taplist that contains several special release seasonal beers and a great bottle selection as well. Remember, you do not need to be a member now in Utah to come into a place like this and order a bottle of high ABV craft beer. Bar has a long ice top that keeps your beer cold while enjoying the game on one of the TV’s, or relaxing with friends. Lower level contains two pool tables, and food is available as well - it’s the Vienna restaurant menu that is connected to this bar. Prices are reasonable overall, but they have some anomalies on the menu. While draft prices are fine, and $5-ish may be fine for Hop Rising, the $12 for Red Chair IPA is absurd, and I doubt they’ll sell many of those $20-25 large sized bottles. Service was decent but it was during the day with fewer than 5 patrons, and I’ve heard it can be subpar when things are busy on a Friday night.

An awesome addition to Salt Lake City. Located right down town in an old historic building. A very long bar and some pool tables are downstairs. On this night they had about 20 beers on tap and about 140 bottled. Tons of locals; if you want ticks from Utah come here for sure. Del has been talking about bringing some new beer into Utah, and I am hopeful. Now, along with the Bayou, SLC has two great beer locations centrally located. This moves SLC closer to a great beer destination.
