HIT this spot if u are in zone. | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 18/20 womencantsail (390) Garbage Grove, California | July 31, 2012 Appearance is more along the lines of a traditional pub. Nice patio area outside as well. The draft list is always great and the staff is friendly. Prices can be a little on the high side, but typically aren’t too bad. I’ve never eaten here, but the food always looks good. | 90 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 18/20 jredmond (161) Manhattan, New York | June 28, 2012 Several drafts enjoyed here in refuge during the blackout in 2011. Awesome draft selection that rivals most bars, huge bottle selection and a wonderfully friendly staff. A must for anyone in the San Diego area. GO NOW | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 HopHead811 (10) California | May 20, 2012 Fun place to hang out, went there after tornado, so the bottle list was not comparable, it was good but not great, the food was great. | 100 AMBIANCE 5/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 15/15 FOOD 10/10 VALUE 10/10 OVERALL 20/20 gimmeabeer (10) , | April 12, 2012 Best beer bar. Anywhere. Anytime. Don’t care who argues with me. They have 50 taps plus nitro, and they are always filled with anything you could possibly want. I once had lunch there and was able to have PalletteWrecker from Green Flash, Evil Twin, and a the Valdieu Grand Cru. My tab? 16 dollars. Also, for some reason, nobody mentions how good their pub grub is. Great sausage rolls, guineess bbq wings, duck wings on special, fries, and shepards pie.
Service is always badass. These guys really really know what they are talking about. Ivan, the owner, goes out of his way to make sure these guys are the same page. Can get busy, but worth waiting for a seat at the bar. I live in north orange county and always make the commute to come down here whenever I can!! | 86 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 19/20 quiznoaz (7) Arizona | March 21, 2012 Incredible selection of strong beers, including some you wouldn’t expect to still be available (i.e., Abyss 2008). I wish I’d had time to sample them all. | 88 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 14/15 FOOD 6/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 Scopey (271) Croydon, England | March 16, 2012 This was our last stop on a fairly hefty day of drinking at Stone and Lost Abbey. Pretty normal bar/restaurant in terms of looks, with an American take on a British bar (i.e. not very British looking). In terms of beer selection is far from normal! On the night we were there they had about 30 taps in comparison to their normal 50, which they apologised for as they had a festival coming up - I was still more than happy. I thought the bottle selection was brilliant - plenty of things we didn’t find anywhere else on our California trips - such as bottles of vintage Decadences for $20 and less. More things on there than I dare mention. Place was more full of locals/non-beer geeks, which is nice for a change. Food was solid and good value. Staff were very friendly and fairly knowledgeable. A top beer destination. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD 7/10 VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 GT2 (346) Riverslime, California | February 20, 2012 Cool English style pub and tavern with decent menu with burgers and sandwiches. Tap list was pretty impressive. Large with focus on local beers. Sculpin and Pliny the Elder on tap with special Ballast Point and AleSmith taps. Decent bottle list. Ran through it but didn’t see their own beer Churchills Finest from Lost Abbey next door. Got an AleSmith Decadence 2006 to share for $20. They allowed us to get 4oz tasters of whatever. Appetizer food was pretty good. Homely laid back atmosphere. They even have HP sauce which I havent seen since I was in Australia. Draft list prices were reasonable. $5 for most stuff going up to $8 for Jolly Pumpkin. Staff was very friendly to just straight up hilarious. Very inviting feel. Sweet local dive type of place. |
