Among the very best beer bars in the world. Outstanding quality selection and server knowledge. Great long bar. Go now.

Very busy, eclectic mix of dťcor, exceptional selection of challenging beers and great service commitment, in spite of the business of the place. Weíll be back next time we visit DC.

Got here quite early in the evening and got seating rigth away. Quite crowded later in the evening, after we did what our best to empty their stock. The food was nice, so was the beers and the service. Only thing I have to complain about is the beer serving temperature. I like that they keep beers at different temps in their coolers, but the temp is too high. Of course itís for them to decide, but when most beers are at ideal temp when fetched from the cooler, it gets too hot very soon. Else, I think itís a world class bar.

Went here a couple of times a while back, thought Iíd rated it. Long and dark- I had definite Deja Vu that Iíd been here when it was something else in the past. Service was decent- it was busy. Great selection. Didnít get food.

Huge range of beers. Good friendly service. Very much a bar focused on beer. Long thin dark room. Reasonable choice of food and what I had was excellent.

May 4th, 2015. Monday at about 5 pm. Hands down the best beer bar I have ever been to. Hours after leaving, I am still in awe. The draft list was two pages, organized not only by style, but also by flavors notes and other characteristics. Their bottle list was at least nineteen pages. Both the bottle and draft lists had a bunch of rare and hard-to-find beers. Cheap 4-oz pours of anything on tap, starting from $2. The staff was friendly and even gave me one 4-oz pour on the house. The place seemed to have plenty of business, but wasnít too crowded. The server was also present when I wanted to order more beers. One of my favorite parts of the bar was a series of six or seven shelves with a few hundred incredible beers aging. This place is simply amazing.

Had to try this place out when I was in DC FT a night. Nice tap list with a few casks and a HUGE bottle list with vintage bottles and bottles from all over the world. Very overwhelming list. The food was good and the service was very friendly and knowledgable. A must stop beer bar.

I have visited ChurchKey a few times now during my DC stay. Thereís always interesting beers on tap to try with a great selection across all styles. They also seem to do regular brewery tap takeovers and launches of new beers. The food is delicious too with their own spin on some classic snacks. Staff have been welcoming and friendly each time Iíve been in. I advise trying to arrive here at opening time during weekdays as it fills up very quickly come 5pm. No doubt a great beer bar!

2015-03-04. We walked upstairs to ChurchKey for a drink after a great dinner at Birch and Barley. As was the case downstairs the tap list is extensive with offerings in a range of styles and over a dozen things that were new to us, including several I hadnít even heard of before. At 10:00 or so on a Thursday night ChurchKey was twice as loud and twice as busy as downstairs. The long skinny layout has tables near the front, seats at the bar and booths along the one side. (I barely squeezed my fat ass into the surprisingly small booth! Time for a diet?) Service was just okay (the friendly table server missed us coming in but brought us waters unasked which was nice, the bartenders seemed kind of uninterested and tired with the busy crowd) but not quite up to the high standard downstairs, but then I wouldnít necessarily expect them to be since they are different kinds of places. Prices are not cheap, which seems to be the norm in DC, but the option to do half pours is nice. Seems like a good mix of people in the crowd. Ultimately you are here for the beer, not the space. I suspect I will like it better if I was more in the mood for a "bar" but the quieter atmosphere of B&B was more my speed tonight. I will definitely return if Iím back in DC but would probably aim to arrive earlier in the evening. (Right after I tell the kids to get off my lawn. :) ) We were just here for one drink after a long night downstairs so itís not an entirely fair assessment. The problem with heading to a great beer bar after having just spent an awesome evening at itís sister restaurant downstairs with superlatively good service is that it canít really hope to compare after that.
