76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 16/20 devman171 (50) Annapolis , Maryland | May 12, 2013 Went at Noon when it opened on a saturday after OTWOA Release, they still had half a pallet so i picked up 2 6ers, the lines for buying everything are right as you walk in, so its crowed at first.. 4 free samples which pour in the front and back.. cool brewery. to find it you have to drive through a white shopping center and parking is in the back. | 84 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 17/20 tcane7 (30) Pennsylvania | March 18, 2013| Updated April 10, 2013 I inadvertently showed up the day of the Armageddon can release so it was really packed. Decent space and employees were all friendly. Decent selection. Some solid collabs. Will have to go back on a normal Saturday and take a tour. | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 13/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 9/10 OVERALL 17/20 radio_nowhere (30) Maryland | January 20, 2013| Updated April 20, 2013 Checked this place out yesterday (1/19/13). Very hidden, in a alley behind a post office. Inside struck me as almost "college like", graffiti art adorned the place with sitting tables placed around. Very open. Busy place that day, tour came with 4 free samples. Tour itself was straight forward. Learned that they will be expanding distribution to MD early 2013 so good news for me. Left with some 6 packs, a bomber and a t-shirt. Enjoyed the visit, I wish them the best! | 82 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 8/10 OVERALL 15/20 bmerz (118) Brooklyn, New York | December 8, 2012| Updated April 20, 2013 Visited the Saturday after Thanksgiving and there was a comfortable crowd of cooler DC people. For a brewery this place had a good really good vibe. Just the right amount and kind of attitude. And most importantly their beer rocks. Definitely one of the best newer small breweries on the East Coast. I wish they had more options pouring though. The flagship stuff was well priced. The specials were expensive...but that goes with the territory. Awesome brewery. | 48 AMBIANCE 4/5 SERVICE 6/10 SELECTION 4/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 10/20 GT2 (345) Riverslime, California | November 19, 2012| Updated April 20, 2013 Yes you can go here to try the beer that’s on tap, then get growler fills, but they were only filling/tapping 4 different beers, 3 of which were their core series. So really only one beer of interest on tap. DC Brau cans and bottles their core series, so I don’t see the need to get growler fills on those. Crowded for tours, a lot of people here and I’m trying to find out why. Only open on Saturday for 3 hours, so call ahead to see if anything of interest in available. There is nothing nearby to stay occupied so it is quite the journey for only one special beer on tap. Ambiance inside is cramped, loud. Plus side is that DC Brau is very popular and makes good beer, and I’m happy to see it is expanding and will probably last awhile. Sadly, I do not think the same thing for 3 Stars and Chocolate City. | 70 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 7/10 SELECTION 9/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 argo0 (205) Washington DC | September 9, 2012| Updated April 20, 2013 You go here for the beer. Whether you’re into the crowded scene of folks in search of free samples or a good food truck really is secondary to the great growlers you can take home at a fairly reasonable price. For me, it’s try the beer then buy the beer, and I leave a happy customer. | 76 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 9/10 SELECTION 10/15 FOOD N/A VALUE N/A OVERALL 16/20 radagast83 (103) Fairfax, Virginia | January 2, 2012| Updated October 9, 2012 Small brewery packed away in the back of a light-industrial park. Pretty busy and cramped inside, but everyone was friendly.
Missed the tour because I was waiting in the super-long line for my growler fill. There’s a lot of room to grow in this place. If you come later, the selection to try is pretty paltry - They only had The Public on tap and for growler fills by 3:30. They don’t serve the food, but they seem to have a rotating number of vendors/restaurants that come to serve up some food.
Update: Been to this place more times than I can count. They’re expanding into the space next to them and their beer selection has gone up. They almost always have the standards canned each week with them virtually always on tap along with a rotating number of specialty brews available both on draft and in bombers. | 78 AMBIANCE 2/5 SERVICE 8/10 SELECTION 12/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 6/10 OVERALL 17/20 Drake (392) Ivy, Virginia | December 18, 2011 Definitely a warehouse brewery. Parking seemed ample. Employees were friendly. Being open 3 hours a week, this place was PACKED. A mish-mash of couches, tables and chairs were scattered about a tasting room into the brewery. 4 pours were available, of ample size, and four beers were available. Beers were available to go as well. All of the beers were quite good, as has held true during my albeit limited experience with these guys. Growler fills were $10, $6 for glass and I did see them filling other breweries’ growlers. $10 for six packs. They only had one six-pack option when I was there, but DC is thirsty and these guys are seeing high demand. Which is good because I got a chance to talk to one of the brewers at length back in June, got to know that these are a cool bunch of people, so I really want them to succeed. | 80 AMBIANCE 3/5 SERVICE 10/10 SELECTION 11/15 FOOD N/A VALUE 7/10 OVERALL 16/20 Travlr (999) Washington, Washington DC | September 7, 2011 Always great to see a new brewery in the district. This one is in a tight warehouse space, but is set to expand production enough to have a steady supply beyond just pub distro, hopefully this fall. Very compact canning line. Handful of barrels, always a welcome sight. Brews are tasty with good potential. Open on Saturdays for growler fills (and cans of just the pale ale for now). Staff hooked me up with a case on a day they were closed, and even showed me around - can’t beat that for good service! |
