| argo0 (180), Washington DC | | September 17, 2009 Good service, decent food, and good value. Unfortunately, the reason we went there for dinner was because of the beer, and there we found the place lacking. Mediocrity was the norm -- no absolute failures, but no winners either. | | phaleslu (88), Cincinnati, Ohio | | July 17, 2009 Straightforward brewpub in downtown Burlington. Service was excellent, with a really friendly staff. Beer selection was ample, with their own brews on tap and bottles of other stuff. We bought growlers for the trip to Boston (as passengers). Ate lunch but didn’t tour the place. The house beers were very good. Food was solid, if unspectacular. I’ll come back next time I pass through. | SkyHigh420 (2), does not count - explanation | | March 22, 2009 Typical American brepub with a selction fo brews which is modest and your normal pub fares. Food was good, nothign spectacuilar but satisfying and well done. Service was prompt and attentive (granted it was a bit early int he day and not very crowded). Brews were varied and enjoyable. | | JoeMcPhee (262), Jackson Heights, New York | | November 27, 2008 Dark British-esque pub just across the street from American Flatbread. A large menu, most of it of the homestyle/diner type of fare. A fairly experimental list of brews, some okay, some quite poor. The server was quite friendly but not all that knowledgable. It’s a decent place, but not a great one. | | FanwickMike (33), | | September 21, 2008 stopped by on beer tour, 09/21/08. Ordered sampler, my choice of 6 beers approx 3oz each. Micks smoked stout, from tap and cask, Spuiter Duyvil, Forbidden fruit, IPA and dogbiter. All were very well done, especially Forbidden and Spuiter, the soured ales. Not too much Brett in Spuiter, not to much raspberry in the Forbidden. The cask version of Micks was much better than the tap version, being served at a temperature which enhanced its smoke flavor. Service was mediocre, but got the job done. Menu was interesting format, and actually informative with it’s history of Ethan Allen. Very crowded and busy. | | DrDavid (20), Johnson, Vermont | | September 15, 2008 Wonderful place in downtown Burlington to catch a tasty lunch and sample their latest brewpub selections. | | blinesam (21), | | August 29, 2008 Avoid this place.
Had maybe 8 beers on tap and the descriptions looked good. Had four of them and they were watery/off in taste except for one. Waitress had no knowledge of the beer which was disappointing but not as disappointing as the beer, the food and the service. unique menu display (newspaper) that was a plus.
The price of the beer seemed too expensive, and the food was really terrible (the salad was old, and the house dressing was basically some watered down name brand dressing) and small compared to the price.
Overall, probably the least friendly place for good beer lovers.
| | Beese (50), Watford, England | | July 4, 2008 [ Updated September 4, 2008 ] Stopped off in here a couple of times, quite a nice brew-pub, fairly good atmosphere, although the atmosphere changes depending on where you’re located, some parts feel like a busy restaurant, but at the same time the bar area is quite relaxed and informal. I had eight of their beers, which I think was everything they had on at the time. I don’t think they did a taster selection, but they do sell their beers in half pints, which makes it a little easier to try them all. They were pretty solid for the most part the Smoked Stout, Blue Nile Gruit (which was also rather different) and Bombay Grab IPA I found to be especially nice. The Grandslam Baseball Beer was pretty weak, but it didn’t sound too appetizing. The service was fairly on the ball when we went in, although they were a bit busy to be overly talkative. I had a cottage pie, which was reasonably priced, if not amazing to eat. Good place. | | VTHopHead (36), Barre, Vermont | | June 1, 2008 I don’t go here that often as it is usually quite crowded. A combination of decent food along with a good selection of quality brewed beers makes this a popular spot in busy downtown Burlington | | Vac (38), San Diego, California | | January 8, 2008 Visited the Vermont Pub and Brewery on a self guided beer tour of northern Vermont in 2003. The food was great but the service was a little lacking. I was able to try 10 of there beers while there. A nice family style Brewpub. |
