walter (7), Staunton, Virginia does not count - explanation | | November 17, 2007 Surprised to see this show up on Ratebeer, as it’s not really a place to go for beer drinkin’. That said, they have two taps, one usually Star Hill, and a handful of bottles including Flying Dog and Dogfish Head. Years ago one tap was always shot and the other had old Dominion Black & Tan I kinda miss those days! Be forewarned: they serve your beer in a plastic mug, but glass pint jars are available on request. The reason to go to the Grill is for the food great selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, as well as one of the finest burgers in town, with bacon to boot! Friendly service, and a quaint old building that served years ago as a trucker’s diner. Themed nights are fun, such as all-you-can-eat Mexican and Breakfast night. Live old time music every Wednesday night by local group The Lotus Eaters, plus lots of great music on weekends. Closed on Mondays for soup kitchen service. Like I said, not a place to go if you’re looking for ratings, but otherwise a special place with a special mission. They don’t accept credit cards, weird hippies. | bhanson (1), Dayton, Virginia does not count - explanation | | November 7, 2007 I really love this place. It doesn’t have a wide selection of beers, but it has wonderful food, a great atmosphere, and beer. Certainly worth a stop. | waveman352 (2), Walden, New York does not count - explanation | | October 29, 2007 Whoever wrote that last review is an idiot. This place is easily the worst place to eat let alone drink in Harrisonburg. The place gives small poritions of food that suck, kind of hippy run as a collective. It does’t accept credit cards and as for the beer there are only two taps so I don’t know why you would go there if your looking to try new a differnet things. Stay away at all costs. If you end up in Harrisonburg go to Cally’s and try their brewed on site beers, they are pretty solid and the food is good. There are plenty of other places that have local VA brews on tap, just stay away! | | dmtroyer (19), Harrisonburg, Virginia | | October 17, 2007 This is one of my favorite Restaurants in Harrisonburg. OK bottle selection that you at least won’t find in grocery stores, and two beers on tap... one of which is usually a virginia brew. Old building with grandfathered laws, but they do their best to keep it clean. The food is definitely worth a few trips. Get to know these people! |
