Visited in December 2012 just shortly before they went out of business. Very friendly bar service though there was never more than a handful of people at the bar. Solid draft selection and luckily they had some GBS on draft. Also had growler fills available. Food was okay though I only tried the fried blowtoad appetizer, bony and over-salted. Pizza sounded good but I didn’t get to try it as I was saving room for lunch at Mekong. Unfortunate that they closed, would have enjoyed returning.

This quickly became one of my favorite local spots to drink. Alas, it is no more :’( Location was awesome since it was directly across from the Byrd Theater (they even gave you a free ticket to the show if you ordered an entree!) The food was delicious. The blueball pizza was my favorite, and the wings were pretty good too. The place was a bit small, and due to the bar location, it often felt very crowded, even if it wasn’t actually. Beer selection was quite good and had a few rare showings as well. Overall, I really liked this place and i’m sad that it didn’t last.

I’ve been here a few times. The pizza is creative and good. They don’t have a ton of taps but it’s a very solid selection. Right in the heart of Carytown.

Finally made it over here. This is celebrity chef Jimmy Snead’s place. Seems he wanted to create a hangout as opposed to chasing stars - good result for the Richmond brew scene. Nice tap selection of locals and interesting variety of micros. Had the blowtoads - a touch greasy, but not bad. The pizza was good - thin crispy, but slightly chewy crust, good balance with toppings. Desert of almond sponge cake was tasty. The restaurant has been criticized for being of uneven quality, but I’m pretty sure I saw Jimmy back in the kitchen, and all was good. Nice addition to the local beer scene.

Well chosen beer selection, heavy on the local stuff, with a few nice surprises - Sculpin was on tap when I stopped by on a Saturday for lunch. James is knowledgeable and friendly. He runs beer class on Saturdays at 4 - free beer and pizza, holy cow! Didn’t try the pizza or the testicles, but other things on the menu were tasty. Definitely worth a look.

Been in a few times for happy hour. Casual but nice. I have only eaten at the bar, but James seems knowledgeable and friendly. Good selection- four taps designated for local- all taps rotate fairly frequently. Wings were good, mac and cheese was decent. Wasn’t a huge fan of the bull testicles (yes you read that right- the "Swingin’ Steak" as they call it.) Haven’t tried the pizza yet. Priced seem average- but they do actually have happy hour specials. Good to grab a bite after work or with the friends and fam while poking around Carytown.
