| Butters (64), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee | | March 9, 2008 This place is NOT bad, it just wasn’t for me. It was REALLY small and cramped. Our service was really slow. And the food wasn’t anything to write home about. I think if I lived a few blocks away, I could make it my home base bar, but I definitely am not gonna go out of my way to visit again. | | bryandhargrave (13), Tulsa, Oklahoma | | June 5, 2007 I love this place. Small, quiet, cozy. You can sit at a table with your best friends and actually have a conversation while drinking some of the best beer you can find on tap in the city. People remember your name, they remember your drink. This is my ideal bar environment. The cheese fries are to die for. | GreenDragon (9), Richmond, Virginia does not count - explanation | | November 16, 2005 A very nice pub on Floyd. The ambience is excellent for peaceful drinking and the place carries a decent selection of good beers. I did not try the food hear. While the prices were decent for a pub, they were still higher than at a restaurant. | | maniac (55), Richmond, Virginia | | November 15, 2005 Nice small location near carytown. A small selection of tap and bottled beers, but are certainly decent. It’s location in the fan makes it easily accessible. | | The_Beer_God (88), Newport News, Virginia | | February 13, 2004 Went here on 12-31-03. Celebrated the New Year here. Aubrey is correct, very small place. Has an upstairs but you want to be next to the bar, lest you wait "forever" for beer. I have not been hit with the "tainted line" syndrome, as Aubrey has, and I've been there several times within the last few years. They usually have some stuff on hand pump from Dominion along with Legend and others. They have a rotating stock of draft and bottles but almost alwys have the "hometown" brews. The few times I've had the food, it's been damn good, although it's been a awhile since I have had it. Worth the time to go here. | | Aubrey (65), Denver, Colorado | | January 21, 2004 Small place. Get there early if you want a seat. Nice selection of beer ... and on most occasions the staff was friendly -- especially the owner, who's really cool. Sadly, I have had some beers that tasted like they passed through tainted lines. This was over a year ago though, so maybe they've "cleaned" up their act since then. Oh, and it can get really smoky in there, especially on weekend evenings. Occasionally they'll have some real winners on tap (i.e., Alpha King). Be sure to check out the pic of the owner sitting next to Michael Jackson on your way out. |
