This is primarily a music venue. There is a restaurant attached, but that is effectively a separate establishment that I’ve not yet been to. There are three bars, one upstairs, two downstairs. Only one bar serves draft beer, being the downstairs bar near the entrance. Crowd varies heavily based upon the show, but it can become quite a wait to get a drink here. Selection largely consists of the standard macros you’d expect at a music venue, but surprisingly there’s some decent craft beer there. Most of the tap selections are craft beer. It seems that any beer you get here will cost you $6 but the craft beer runs the same as the macros, and at $6 for some of the craft beers, they’re comparable most of the other bars around. This isn’t where you’d go for a beer on its own, but if you want to catch a concert and drink good beer, this is a nice spot to do it.

This is absolutely the best place to catch a live concert in Shockoe Slip. The building is located right on the canal. Everything about this place is top notch for seeing a show- great lighting and terrific sound. Two floors allow for lots of room to see the bands. But the biggest suprise here is the beer selection. As you would expect, they have all the typical macros that have become tasteless golden elixers of live entertainment. But Toads is the only place where I have found such selection of microbrews on draught from breweries such as Victory, SamAdams, Dogfishhead, Legend, etc. And even though it’ll cost you 6 bucks for that Budlight you’ve been craving, you can get a nice pint of HopWallop for the same price. So if you’re looking for some live entertainment and a suprising selection of good beers, check this place out.
