I was soooo excited to see Bell’s Kalamazoo on draft, it left a great impression on me. Food is pretty solid Americanized Mexican/Tex-Mex that changes up frequently. Service was friendly, ambiance is a bit lacking and it reminded me how much I love the smoke-free bars in Harrisonburg.

A nice Mexican joint with the restaurant out front and the bar out back (rather confusingly it has a separate entrance on a different street, although you can get between the two parts without leaving the premises). Good cheap eats. Four microbrews on tap (two of which were new for me). Don’t know what the bottle selection is like as I didn’t get past the Green Flash IPA. Live music on a Sunday. The liveliest place in town on a quiet Sunday night.

My favorite local joint. Laid back and comfortable atmosphere with tasty and very affordable Mexican dishes. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about beer and food, and there seems to be little turnaround in the waitstaff. My wife and I have been frequenting the place about once a week for over a year now and always have a familiar face waiting on us-- a nice treat in my book. The manager is usually present and quick to remember faces, an additional pleasant touch. Their beer selection is commendable. They rotate four taps of craft microbrews and have a decent selection of mostly macro bottles. It is not uncommon to find four new beers on draft after two weeks. A solid chunk of my ratings are courtesy of Baja, and a lot of it is beer I cannot find bottled locally. Good food, good beer, good service.
