hophead311 (3), does not count | | April 4, 2008 A home away from home to me. Like Butters, I went to school near the bar and am completely biased. They now have a Monday special with half off burgers and $2 micro bottles (we’ll see how long that lasts). If you are in town, it is a must try. It does get quite busy in the evenings, especially weekends. I suggest early dinner, lunch, or, even better, Sunday brunch. | | f351c4v (49), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | March 9, 2008 A nice little pub in Williamsburg. Small parking lot in the rear of the building, which is colonial themed (imagine that!) Decent amount of taps, although nothing that was absolutely rare or off-the-wall. I visited on a Tuesday, so I got to take advantage of the $1.50 VA drafts, along with the $5 VA pitchers. Old Dominion, Legend, St. Georges, all prominently featured here. St. Georges IPA was on cask, excellent. Atmosphere was quiet at first, but started to get busy as the day wore on (Tuesday afternoon). Only sampled the chili, it was servicable. Worth a stop if you’re visiting the area. | | Butters (57), Temporarily in Nashville, Tennessee | | March 5, 2008 I’m extremely biased when it comes to rating this place mainly because I spent four wonderful college years living in this bar. This place is absolutely great, especially if you go during off-peak hours to avoid the crowds and noise (NEVER GO ON A SUNDAY NIGHT). Tuesdays are typically the best days to go if you are a fan of VA beers because all pitchers of draft VA beers are just 5 bucks! There burgers are good and their entrees are great. Service quality fluctuates based on extremely high turnover rate. This is a MUST for anyone traveling through Williamsburg | | MartinT (301), Montreal, Quebec | | January 14, 2008 This unpretentious pub and restaurant offered plenty of quality beer on tap when I visited around New Year’s (SN Celebration, Lagunitas IPA, Arrogant Bastard, Victory Festbier, DFH 60-Minute IPA, 3 beers from Legend, 2 from Dominion, St.George IPA, Cottonwood Frostbite, etc.) and had a very enticing bottle list too (beers from Brooklyn, Clipper City, Flying Dog, Williamsburg Aleworks, Bluegrass, North Coast, Thirsty Dog, Bell’s, Green Flash, Humboldt, etc.). The food we had (smoked turkey sandwich and ahi tuna sandwich) was decent but forgettable average American pub food. It was quite inexpensive though, so you can’t really complain. I wouldn’t make a detour to come here, but if you are in Williamsburg visiting the historic area, I’m pretty sure you can’t find a better craft beer selection than this within walking distance. | | BREWMUSKCLES (32), WEEHAWKEN, New Jersey | | October 28, 2007 between cask, taps, and bottles they have a real good selection.the food is real good and the place is hopping with a nice mix of older and young folks that i have’nt seen in a long time. friendly knowledgeable staff -and for that matter clientele this is a real nice place. | beermeashiner (3), does not count | | October 26, 2007 I just moved to Williamsburg from Austin and had heard great things. To be fair I was spoiled by the Draught House, but this place is only about 10 steps from the closest frat house and you can tell. DO NOT go on Thursday through Saturday after 9 pm. It is unbearably loud, there is no sort of line and you must elbow people to get a drink, and you will not find a seat. Did I mention you can’t go outside? There is no patio/porch/parking lot you are confined to the claustrophobic inside, more likely than not filled with frat daddy’s in sport coats taking shots from the bar and stumbling towards the restroom. Not at all what it’s cracked up to be. | | performula (27), Triangle Area, North Carolina | | October 8, 2007 The beer selection is fantastic for what I thought was going to be small. Lots of locals on tap and bottled. Legend, St. George, etc. Some of the information on the site is inaccurate. I did not find Three Floyd’s at all on their menu. Food is great for a bar, average for a restaurant. I recommend the Salsa & Chips. London Broil sandwich had three/four strips spread over what looked like a 10" roll, when 6" would have been fine. Calamari had no flavor. Service was above average, a little unknowning of beer selection. Probably a great bar. Will visit again. | | guzzler67 (17), Hanover, Maryland | | August 24, 2007 The place to go in town for good beer, especially Virginia beers. Nice, laid back atmosphere (but bear in mind that the college directly across the street was on break). Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Diverse, friendly clientel. Centrally located (near the historic area). Did not eat here but wish we had (the steakhouse we chose left a lot to be desired). Would definitely go back if in the area again. Passed a second location while headed towards Jamestown, but didn’t have a chance to stop. Does anyone know it the selection is as good? | themadmumis (6), Westminster, Maryland does not count | | January 24, 2007 Went there on Vacation back in October ’06 and was highly delighted. Yes, parking sucks. Other than that, the Nachos are Ultimate and the Panini bread the sandwiches are served on is excellent. They offered 4 Belgian brews on tap and I noticed they have a weekly keg tapping of a different brew. Very nice selection of bottled brews, too. Great service to boot. I can’t wait to go back. | bcoe (1), Williamsburg, Virginia does not count | | July 12, 2006 my hometown bar. i don’t go anywhere else to drink. so the parking is bad... if you live here you accept it and move on. if you happend to stop by on a sunday night you’ll be in for a treat. Mug night, where the slogan reads... good beer, good food, good people, bad parking. | View Page : 1 2
