I love to stop by the Dog House mainly because of the atmosphere: old-fashioned feel & decor, un-pretentious, awesome view that isn’t shared with a hundred other people. I personally love the fish and chips, my husband the cheeseburgers. If you don’t like old-fashioned comfort food and a cold beer, this isn’t your place. www.thedoghousetavern.net

Housed in a historic (circa 1870) Victorian Langley landmark, the Doghouse is a favorite with both locals and tourists (mainly weekenders from metropolitan Puget Sound). Decent, well-rounded selection of (primarily) NW ales and sometimes even a rarer, local offering. The food however, is what really draws here: Pub grub plus! The burgers are among the best anywhere (they have their ground beef prepared locally, by a real butcher, using quality meats such as chuck and steak trim). Soupls, beans, chili and other house specialties are also not to be missed. For those craving a hearty vegetable course, check out the Givech - a thick slavic stew of various vegetables topped with melted jack cheese (not a traditonal preparation, but woderful in its own way. Can’t vouch for the ’dinner’ items (e.g. lasagna), but the excellent quality and variety of ’pub grub’ items raises this place to ’destination quality’, in our book. Generally decent entertainment in the restaurant area weekends. Service can be slow - especially on Fridays and Saturdays, so be forewared!

This place is a favorite with locals. Nice selection of taps. It’s a classic place reeking of legend and lore. Not a dinner destination but a great place to grab a brew and get a feel for local island life. The urinals in the men’s room are seriously cool. Odd thing to mention here, but seriously... they’re huge! Check out the cool old bar-back and ask to hear the story about the bullet hole. Worth hearing.

Great location, the restaurant in back overhangs the water. Seating in the bar is limited to 10 stools at the bar, and 3 or 4 tables Mostly locals in the bar area. Decent selection of local micros. Food was poor, very greasy, 4 of us ate, everything was greasy. A nice quiet spot 5 min from Clinton ferry dock
