73 reviews for Brouwer’s Cafe
MarinaMarket (1), Washington does not count - explanation | | October 30, 2009 CAN’T THINK OF MANY PLACES i WOULD RATHER DRINK BEER. Not cozy but the volume more than makes oup for the crowd. Food was great, and the service at the taps was excellent. Enjoyed a nice afternoon there during Washington Beer Fest, tasted several beers, and had a nice pasta.
I really enjoy the building itself too. Definitely some vision went into the design. Nothing like staring down a line of taps so long you literally cannot see the far end. AWESOME! | | bvc (18), Kenmore, Washington | | October 13, 2009 Great building with a cool midevil cave feel to it that was built not sparing much expense. The bartop is huge and the stools are some of the most comfortable you will find. Large draft list and they put new lines on for every keg. Bottle list is also huge and you will often find some rare gems on there. The food is great and I would always recommend the fresh sheet. The staff is also super helpful and friendly in my opinion. They also put on some of the best local ’fests’. A must visit place if you are in Seattle. | | Nena (13), Seattle, Washington | | October 11, 2009 I had trouble finding this place since it doesn’t look like much on the inside, but the interior is rather medieval feeling with its combination of stone and wood. I went during happy hour on Saturday, and the place was pretty busy but not crowded or loud. I was very impressed with the service on my visit. I’d heard mixed reviews of the service so I was pleasantly surprised. Our server was friendly, fast, knowledgable, and willing to stop and chat to help us make choices. I don’t feel like I saw enough of the food to be sure on the overall quality, but the frites and smelt we shared were delicious and cheap. I was most impressed by the huge selection of beer. The tap list was long and varied and the bottle list was the longest I’ve seen. | mahlice (2), , does not count - explanation | | October 7, 2009 I like it best around midday, as this place can draw an obnoxious evening crowd who doesn’t really seem deserving of the finest beer selection in Seattle. The staff is usually very knowledgeable about the rotating taps, which is no small feat given the rate of turnover at this place. The bottlelist is about the size/weight of a bible, and deserves some measure of reverence. The food is excellent, particularly the frites and the lamb burger. For every beer you already like you should be able to discover 3 more at Brouwer’s. | | BrockLanders (30), Panama City, Florida | | August 23, 2009 Thoroughly enjoyed stopping here. Ian was a terrific bar keep......hooked me up with a great HOTD Matt taster.......gave great directions to all the local brew lover essentials. Great selection on tap and their bottle list is outstanding. Started with a Pliny the Elder and finished with a Consecration.....can’t go wrong there. The grinder I had for lunch was superb as was the tomato basil soup. If you’re in the area then you are wrong if you don’t stop in. | | CheersMate1 (34), Atlanta, Georgia | | August 11, 2009 Came here before Liquid Sunshine VIII! The people were great. The bar had a very open feeling to it i.e. high ceilings. They had an awesome selection. Purchased a Hair of the Dog Doggie Claws 2002 for 15$ here. Also, they tapped Older Viscosity while we were here! Had a Russian River Publication on tap. Service was a little spotty, but I never had an empty glass. The medieval theme is not a big factor, in fact, I didn’t even really realize that they were going for it? Anyways, a must stop if you are in Seattle, along with Uber. Uber is A LOT smaller, but Brouwers, at the time, had the better selection. | | boFNjackson (54), Portland, Oregon | | July 29, 2009 [ Updated August 26, 2009 ] This place was awesome. I will definitely stop here again next time I’m in Seattle. An interesting interior of a middle age theme with a mixture of some modernism. I got an awesome spinach salad with a sherry vinaigrette and grilled chicken. Really good. Beer selection was good. Taps were mostly common NW micros and craft imports with a few rare exceptions, but the bottle list was what stood out for me. I had to spoil myself and enjoy a 2002 bottle of Hair of the Dog Doggie Claws. Not too shabby. | | Poperinge (119), Cowtown, Alberta | | July 12, 2009 Caught this place for lunch during a pucker fest, amazing beer selection, had a modest lunch here and an immense selection of beers on tap. Would love to come back here for dinner next time I am in Seattle. | cannabanaceae (1), seattle, Washington does not count - explanation | | June 30, 2009 This place kicks ass! Pull up a load stool to the bar and your good. | | frylock (37), Buffalo, New York | | June 11, 2009 I was eagerly awaiting a trip to Brouwer’s and I was not disappointed in any way. Impressive right from the big wooden front door. Amazing tap list, that was highlighted for me by Russian River’s Empirical 7 and New Belgium Le Terroir. Bottle list was huge and it looked like there were many in the cooler behind the bar that were not even listed. Service was good, the waiter seemed to have a soild knowledge of beer and even steered me away from an old cask that was past its prime. The food was nice as well, I had a spicy lamb burger with some frites that was very satisfying. If I had more time and money I could have spent alot of each at Brouwers. |
