A rather chic little lounge in the freshly gentrifying and soon to be completely disinfected Ballard region of Seattle. Owned and operated by a master manipulator of spirits infusions who grew up in Brazil. The focus is certainly on cocktails here; they’re the kind of place that creates their own signature cocktails with catchy names and then brings in "guest bartenders" on a fairly regular basis to add new arrows to the mixology quiver. More importantly, they serve spectacularly good Brazilian food with decent happy hour deals. Most importantly of all, they insist on embracing the notion that most crowds of people visiting their bar will include at least one person who would prefer to have a beer. So, they have an immaculately well-edited dozen tap handles, and a thoughtfully assembled 40 or so bottles. Most things in both sides of the cooler will rotate. But most interestingly, they have three astonishingly good Big Al beers that are served nowhere else, and will never be served anywhere else. They get a fair few noteworthy kegs that not many places lay a hand to, but the Big Al beers are beers that they brewed collaboratively with the man himself, and they did it just for this place. In my opinion they’re some of the best beers pouring from Washington breweries. This place is a small, serious beer bar hiding inside a cocktail lounge.
