RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Situated directly across from Safeco, this place gets packed after M’s games--so if you are in the mood for some quiet, reflective beer tasting, pick another time! Polished wood, clean, and well kept, this is a beautiful, sports-oriented brewery in a similar fashion to the Pike Place Brewery--located several blocks away (both are also pricier than other Seattle breweries). Several of this brewery’s beers are Top 50 material, however; other brews--esp. many of the seasonals are rather insipid products. Also, Pyramid now brews Thomas Kemper ales and has several of these selections on tap as well. Here are a few of their brews defintely worth trying:
Pyramid 5,000 Year Ale--two things--1) be sure to ask about this ale and 2) be sure to save it for last--this is a standout, complex barleywine that is ready for recognition.
Pyramid Tilted Kilt--a superbly crafted scottish ale.
Pyramid Hefeweizen (my favorite American Wheat--and unbeatable as far as summer brew is concerned).
Pyramid India Pale Ale.
Thomas Kemper Weizen Berry.
Pyramid Snowcap Ale

BrewDad | A huge brew pub this was a great time. I was with the folks and my family. We ate drank and really enjoyed. I can’t imagine how busy this gets during game times. The beer was good the food excellent we really enjoyed ourselves. I wish they had better and more selections to choose from like some special beer only can get at the brewery types.

Enniskillen | A 10 minute walk from the Coast Guard base, so each time we pull in to port a lot of people from the boat go there. I’m not a big fan. Very commercial, just their beers on tap when I was there. Food is overpriced so I didn’t eat.

Bobsy | Well-positioned for Safeco. I went twice - once in the afternoon to enjoy a quiet drink on the patio, and the other for some food just before the game (needless to say it was busy). Extensive selection of house brews on tap, and very decent and large portions of food. Ambiance was pretty good too.

jhumphries69 | This place is large and open - and situated right behind the baseball stadium. The best part was that they had a parking lot (I got so tired of the incredibly expensive parking situation when driving around downtown Seattle - this was a welcome relief). We didn’t have food, so N/A rating there. The service was okay, the ambience was nothing special, and the selection was great - if and only if you were looking for Pyramid brews. That day, I was looking for house brews, and was happy that they could put together a sample of all their draft selections (10 of them). The samplers were a bit large (5 oz - I asked if I could get smaller ones, and they said, "no"). Luckily I had cohorts and none of the brews were very strong. Overall, so-so.

auderale | Went here right before a Mariners game which turned out to be a pretty good time to go. They had beer out front with no waiting. Inside was packed but had a few more beer choiced. I’d go to this place anytime I’m back in Seattle. Mariners game or not. Next time I’ll try the food, cause it looked pretty damn good.

| japewang | Great place to cathc some brews and food before or after an M’s game. Can be prohibitively busy and a bit on the pricey side. Food is solid. Full range of pyramid brews.

BuckeyeBoy | A nice place to stop and have a drink and some food. i was quite bummed that there is not any brewing going on at this location right now. They said all the tools were pulled out in Jan 06 but they will be putting some thing in some time soon. it will not be very big.

after4ever | Nice bar, appealing menu selections, disappointing food, fantastic location for baseball fans, interesting old warehouse building, monopolistic lineup of mediocre beers. Only a watering hole for people with baseball tickets. Avoid at all other times.

Ibrew2or3 | This place can be tough to get into due to parking and the huge crowd during a stadium event. If one is going on plan ahead. At the very least plan on having a headache and remedy. Off peak hours and while there is no event this place is very easy access right at the end of Hwy 90 and plentiful parking. Solid line-up Pyramid brews that in general were designed for mass appeal much like Red Hook. The food is good albeit a bit pricey. An excellent experience can be had if you attend an M’s game and plan on arriving 2.5 hours early or earlier. What better way to enjoy a game after a relaxing meal with several good draft beers and then a short walk over to the ballpark.

Zinister | Love this place...especially it’s proximity to Safeco. Very nice inside....sort of a NW mountain-y look....polished wood, high cielings. Great beers of course, but food is very good too. Nice selection of both. One of my favorite spots when I visit.
