A pleasant surprise that popped up on my GPS as my wife and I were looking for a lunch spot before going to the Glass Museum. Got there right at the right time as it was just opening for lunch at 11am on a Tuesday. As such, place was pretty empty but the bar tender was very attentive and helped us with what their specialties were. Has the Halibut fish and chips. Very tasty, but I wouldn’t pay the extra $3 for Halibut as the deep frying masks any superior taste of the halibut over the cod. Ordered the beer sampler. You don’t get the seasonals or special releases with the sampler, but the bar tender was good enough to add a sample of the new IIPA upon request. Spoke with brewmaster, Mike, who gave us a tour of the brewery. I was very impressed with their beers. Quite frankly had never heard of Harmon, and it appears they don’t pay much heed to entering many of the myriad fests and beer competitions in the area. In fact, they pulled their brews from Seattle distribution so visitors there who don’t venture down to Tacoma or otherwise hear of them may not be aware of some pretty good brews being made at Harmon. There are some distinctive flavors in their beers while maintaining trueness to style. If in Tacoma, definitely worth a visit.

Direct in Downtown Tacoma. They have some interesting seasonal beers - Cherry stout. They even have reserved places for their loyal customers (Stammtisch), which I believe every proper establishment should have.

A great place to come visit. A tad off the path but was not too hard to find. A huge open space and this was a typical brew pub with food. Great place I liked it and the skiing flar was awesome. The food was good pub food and some great fries. The service was not too bad and the beers where flowing. Parking is tight so that can be hard to find during busy times. Lots of beers on tap They have about 12 of there own. Lots of special flavors liqours also.

Big old warehouse space, very nice. Decent food (mostly pub grub), average service. Lots of nice hoppy beers.

Located on the main shop and restaurant drive in Tacoma, this place is quite large and has a very long bar. However, the service was downright terrible and we visited during slow hours. We were ignored countless times when it was obvious that we wanted to order, ask questions or get our bill. The regular house beers were very well made, with the ESB and porter being the standouts. The special brews, all variants of an IPA, very unique and experimental but none blew me away.

I was more comfortable here than anywhere else in Tacoma. A great selection of beer, most of which was very good. Free peanuts....very good food. Exceptionally attentive staff...Oakes must have got the wrong server,I found them all willing to bend over backwards to please

Has a confused sort of theme - part ski lodge, with a bunch of cowboy stuff thrown in. The space is big and bright. The beer is available to go. The service is average. Some of the beers were quite good, especially the Pale Ale. My favourite of the places I hit in Tacoma.

Cool building, there is this huge wooden beam that runs from the basement to the roof. The food is expensive and not outstanding, the staff was all wearing shirts with some joke about stealing your girlfriend, kind of lame overly-casual sort of thing. Most importantly, the beer is about par, and they serve it ice cold. I suggest walking up the street to the Rock.
