| agl108 (17), Manayunk, Pennsylvania | | July 2, 2008 Stopped by for dinner while vacationing in Canaan Valley. I tried both the IPA and the marzen, they were fairly average brews. 5/7 people in my party enjoyed their meal. Strange menu with dedicated sections for both German and Italian fare. The dedicated dining area was set up similar to a standard German bier garden with plenty of wooden tables and benches. The rest of the brewpub had a somewhat haphazard layout with a fireplace, bar area (with brew tanks visible directly behind the bar), mini stage area for bands, and gameroom. | thoramel (3), does not count | | May 15, 2008 Avoid this place. The service was not unfriendly, but it certainly wasn’t polite. The food at this location was an insult to both Germans and Italians. My spaghetti was floating in a pool of water and the cabbage on my wife’s cabbage rolls was like leather. The ambiance was alright but only because the brewing tanks are right out in the open. The beer is weak and does not taste very good. WV offers several good breweries, but this is not one of them. | brew4fun (2), West Virginia does not count | | October 31, 2007 Rustic ambiance. Decent bar with several made-on-site brews, the 3 sampled were excellent. Tanks visible behind bar. A beautiful out-of-the-way brewpub that is completely worth the trip. Peace, quiet, slow-paced, great brew - what more could one want? |
