CaryTheDude (9), Ripon, Wisconsin does not count | | September 9, 2008 Had a absolute blast touring the brewery. the founder, Jim, walked us around, gave us a tour, made us laugh, pounded some beer, made us laugh some more, then came out and tailgated with us. Founder isn’t pretentious at all, he’s just a dude who loves to drink beer and wants to share it with other people. Fun time, the beer isn’t all that great, but hell, for $6 it’s definitely worth it. | | Ughsmash (138), Waukesha, Wisconsin | | January 8, 2008 I’ve done the tour and the fish fry at lakefront, and both are certainly recommended. The building is a little hard to find, but has a nice location tucked against the river. You get to drink before, during, and after the tour, which is short, informal, and funny. The fish fry was excellent and the polka band provided entertainment. Most of Lakefront’s brews are available. | | Strykzone (24), Wood River, Illinois | | July 15, 2007 Our tour guide, Bob, made the tour a delightfully fun and interesting event. The brewery seemed to exhibit what the spirit of micro brewing should be. We were given 3 samples to enjoy and all were quite good. The restaurant is German style seating which means many people sitting at the same table. We met some interesting people at our table. Music was provided by the Polka Kings and they were pretty amazing. Lots of dancing and laughter resulted from this fun music. All of our group, even the wives who are not interested in beer, would go back to Lakefront Brewery anytime. | | JAF737300 (29), New York, New York | | July 4, 2007 One of the most fun and most informative beer tours that I have been to! The owner walks you around and is fun and candid. You actually learn a great deal of info! The beers are on tap or available for bottle (single or six) purchase. Logo wear is available and cheap. A MUST visit. | | Dansting (114), Overland Park, Kansas | | June 29, 2007 Took a Saturday tour which cost $5, which included a pint glass. Nice place. They have Larry, Curly, and Moe painted on three of the brew tanks, which is kinda funny and interesting. They also own Bernie Brewer’s chalet from County Stadium, which you can see there. The beers were really good, and the people there were pretty nice. Definitely worth the trip there, even if it cost $5 to sample the beers. | slavnikus (1), Pinckney, Michigan does not count | | May 30, 2007 Our family had a blast! We toured the brewery on a Friday evening - had a great tour guide - very friendly and knowledgable. Plenty of samples. After the tour, we went upstairs for the Friday Fish Fry and Polka Dance. Very good family entertainment. | | BeerBelcher (89), Milwaukee, Wisconsin | | April 1, 2007 I was very impressed with my visit to the Lakefront brewery. The establishment is cool, the beers aren’t bad, and the tour is entertaining.
Lakefront is in a huge old building in the Riverwest neighborhood along the river. You start off (after paying) in a large room sampling, unlike any other tour I’ve been on where a sample comes afterwards.
The tour was conducted by John (Zutz?) whom I recognized (he is very recognizable) from the Blessing of the Bock festival he led and organized a few weeks back. He was funny and interesting.
You drink as you tour, and afterwards there are more samples. Quite nice. | | Ofortuna (12), Grafton, Wisconsin | | January 17, 2007 Ah, the best beer tour in the city hands down. Mainly because you pay for the tour which gets you pint glass, ticket for a free beer out in the town, several pours (depends on who’s pouring in regards to how much and how often) and a quick slide down the old Brewer chalets. However, the best part is you don’t have to go on the tour. Nothing special about it anyway, except I do like the fact that its not too long like Sprechers and if very laid back. Certainly worth a trip. | | theisti (71), Leawood, Kansas | | October 26, 2006 [ Updated August 6, 2008 ] I was among the first to tour Lakefront back in the River west days. I had not been back to the brewery since the move to the river, but my goodness, what a change. The facility is tremendous. Beautifully done, and the wit, personality and class of the original is still maintained. Many thanks to the KiIsch’s for their contribution to Milwaukee. | | RagallachMC (30), Cleveland, Ohio | | October 2, 2006 If I lived in Milwaukee, I’d do this tour every weekend. $5 for four 8oz samples, a coupon for a free drink at a local bar, and a pint glass? Sign me up! Tour was more entertaining than informative, although they did explain the process throughout the tour. Heavy emphasis on drinking during the tour, which I was happy to oblige. Selection was ok, but would have liked to see some of the better beers offered on tap. All in all, a great way to spend an afternoon in Milwaukee. | View Page : 1 2 3 4
