“Attractive floating restaurant serving a range of Penon Del Aguila beers. Beers were fine and fairly priced. Service was typically Argentinian, ie slow and unenthusiastic and the music was too loud. Worth a look if passing.“

“I came for lunch on a Wednesday (1pm). It was sort of busy with guys in shirts (office workers). They had some veggie options. I ordered the Veggie Burrito. As was stated, they do half pours, and they are happy to let you taste beers before ordering. The place is definitly not the smallest. Service was good and attentive. I had two tasters (to decide) and both were quite good. Both Lagery things. Oh yeah, not all the beers are available in half pints, look at the menu and you will figure it out. Food was uhm, not that great. The burrito came with fries, and the fries were very soggy and softish, Burrito was quite average, especially the tortialla it was wrapped in was of poor quality. After visiting the San Telmo branch, I expected better food. Maybe burgers are better. Overall Ok place, but food might not be the best idea here.“

Beer and go (Beer Store)
AV. CORRIENTES 1989
“Smallish hole in the wall place on Corrientes (bit north of Congreso). They have 18 taps and some beers in the fridge. Taps were mostly Goyeneche, BBH(?) and a few others. They only do half litres and bigger. They also put beers in pet bottles for take away. Somehow the guy did not tap the beer into the glass itself, but first filled a pet bottle and then poured from the pet bottle. I found this very weird, I am also kinda sure that he does not clean the pet bottle inbetween. They were happy to let me try the beers before ordering (shot glass taster). Of the beers I first tried a Jam Stout which was not good and sour. The Goyeneche Doble Ipa was nice though. Fridge contained some micros but selection was a bit limited. When I was there, there was a bigger group of like 8 people, but they left after a while. Overall Ok place, when in the area, but not super inviting.“

“Cool and spacious place. They have a couple outdoor tables and then the rest is indoors. 20 taps. They do happy hour (I think 6 to 9pm). Usually half pours are 120$ and pintas are 170 (or 200 for the fancier ones). During happy hours pintas are 120 too. Unfortunatly you cannot just do a half pour for the 120 ones during happy hour (you are supposed to pay extra somehow). They were happy to let me try the fancy ones though. Its one of those places where you pay first, get a reciept (also for multiple beers in advance) and get the beers afterwards. As i said, they were happy to let me try stuff. I came here on a Monday 8pm and the place was busy (actually quite busy). They actually have an upstrairs area, so its even bigger then it looks. Interesting selection of breweries (Dos Dingos, Baba, Minga). Food looked good, but I did not eat. Worth a stop.“

“Stylish place close to Plaza Peña. 13 taps with a variety of styles and breweries. I had the Trople Porter first, which was nice. But the waitress suggested the Sur del Sur APA which was very good (NE style thing). Service was a big slow. I think they have food but I did not try. Overall recommended. Convenient because of the early opening hours.“

“Bar / restaurant with 13 taps. Beers are exclusive Tacuara beers. They seem to have 6 regulars and then the rest is changing. I visited on a Monday shortly after 6pm (they open at 5pm), and the place was busy. I guess after work crowd. They have happy hour from 5 to 8pm (I think), which means 2x1 pints. I had the Irish Red first, which was not too exciting, but the Stout (more like a dry stout at 4.2%) was very very lovely (shockingly!!). I had a "pizza" which was not very exciting. Super hard and quite small. Burgers looked and smelled good though. I liked the design of the place. Defintly worth a visit.“

“Seems to be a bit off-site as far as San Telmo bars go. Rather big place, but only 3 other people there when I visited (Saturday(!) 9pm(!)). They seem to have like 20 taps, but only 6 were kegged. I had an oatmeal stout, which was sour. They had breweries though, which I did not see anyhwere else (Tan Selmo, Ultimo Tiro).“

“Big industrial factory like place. They have an indoor skate park. They have like 20 taps, but only 2/3 were available. I had a Weizen first (which was not too exciting, they let me try before ordering), and then a Foreign Stout, which was decent. Service was Ok, but not very excited. Attendance was Ok, but felt a bit empty for a big place like this. Cool to check out though.“

“This place says (also according to google maps), that its open starting midday. I came twice early afternoon and the place looked like it was closed down for good. The 3rd time I came on a Saturday after 8pm and it was finally open. I came based on the rating of b727trijet. The place looks like as if it has seen better days, a bit on the shoddy side. I was the only customer. I ordered a blonde ale (guy said it was their own), and a Veggie burger. Afterwards I noticed that on the blackboard it said that the blonde ale was by Kaleff. The other brewery they have is Boku. Not sure if they still have own beers. The burger was decent for a Veggie burger, but super greasy. Same for the fries, not very exciting. They are happy to do half pours (medias). At leaving I asked about the opening times, and they said they open midday, although clearly twice it was not opened. Bit of english spoken here, but better to know some spanish (like most places in B.A.). Overall Ok place, but definitly has seen better days.“

Saigón (San Telmo) (Restaurant)
BOLIVAR 970, SAN TELMO
“Lovely food place in the Mercado San Telmo (accessed from the street). Usually most places listed as restaurants on rb are boring, but this one is not one of those. I came on Saturday for a late lunch, and the place was quite busy. Upon entering they have a counter on the left, with the cashier (you have to pay first), and also the 10 taps. If you want food, you have to tell everything the cashier and get a reciept with a number (the number gets called later on (in spanish)). They are happy to let you taste the beers before ordering, but its a bit hectic, because there is usually a line. If you are a group it might be tough getting a table, because the place is not that big and seems to be busy most of the time. Only early evening (5pmish) when I walked by it was not so busy. They let me try a stout, which was freshly kegged, but which I didnt like. I was happy to have an Amber Ale though. They also some interesting Sours (gose), but I did not try. I did not ask, but it seems like they only do pints. Food was lovely. If I have the time, I might also check out their Retiro branch. Definitly recommended place!“

“Cool (and quite big) place in San Telmo. Massive 66 taps. They have some kind of projection on the wall that shows the tap list. About 15 of their own beers. As is common in B.A. almost all beers are below 6% ABV. Quite diverse style list, with lots of lager and ale styles, and also some hoppy stuff. I was missing some more dark beers, they only had a Porter and a Black Session IPA. At first I was a bit confused with the token thing. You buy tokens (for 150 Pesos), and with that you can usually get a pint, or two half pints. During happy hour (5pm - 7:30pm) you can get twice of everything, so two pints, or 4 half pints. They give you a coaster to keep track of what you already had (so dont loose it). You have to ask explicitly for a half pour (media) or they will just give you a pint. Not all beers are included in the happy hour. Surprisingly this place seems to be busy early. I came at something like 5:15 mins and the place was already somewhat busy. It got quite busy by the time I left (7 something). I guess people go after work. They have some food, but I did not eat. You have to queue yourself at the bar, there were 3-4 people behind the bar, so it was always fast and efficient. I had 3 beers, and they were in good shape, but I thought they were also a bit on the boring side. But maybe I was just unlucky. Overall definitly a place worth checking out. I will try to go back if I have some time.. If you go during happy hour you get 4 half pours for 150 Pesos (around 2 Euros), so definitly a good deal.“

“Nice place with a central location in San Telmo. 14 taps. They were happy to let me taste 2 beers before ordering (shot glass tasters). Beers were in decent shape. They have a diverse selection of styles, and (as seems to be usual in B.A.) almost all of them in the lower 6- ABV range. Also diverse list of breweries. I am not an expert on Argentinian Craft beers, so not sure how intersting the breweries are. Prices are Ok, average, not too cheap. They do half pints, but the happy hour only includes pints (reduced prices). Tap list seems to be rather ont he static side, so this could get boring after a while. Overall nice place, bonus for the early opening hours.“

PIBA, Belgrano (Homebrew Shop)
JURAMENTO 2782
“More a bar which does posh tapas which also happens to PIBA beers. No sign of a brewery but I'd imagine it may be brewed in another of the 5 or 6 venues. The IPA was good as was the seasonal, a Gose. Luckily for me they offer half pints.“

“Update : CLOSED IN 2020 // I cannot find out if Gluck is a brewery or a franchise. 10 beers of good quality. Visited in Dec.2018 just after it opened but I was appalled the nitro stout was served 60% foam and they tried to inform me that's how stout should be served!! After much arguing the owner agreed to top it up (probably to shut me up!) However the quality of 4 (thumbs up for half pints) I tried was excellent.“

“Update 2023 : Sadly this quirky venue has CLOSED. // Very small bar at southern end of San Telmo. 12 taps of different styles from several Argentinian micro breweries which keeps changing. Most punters just come in and try a few tasters then have their growlers filled and leave. But there are stools inside and a table and chairs on the pavement outside. Have visited 3 times so far and staff always friendly and beer quality always tip top. Ratebeer map is correct! Is a 10 mins walk to/from Volks Bier Bar.“

“Update 2023 : Sadly this venue has drastically reduced it's once huge range to "just" 20, only worthwhile visiting if in the area than a destination venue. So I have down-rated my score from 4.7/5.0. // Although I can confirm 150 taps about 10 were duplicates and 2 were from Fullers (a local brewery of mine in London so was not impressed!) Otherwise all beer from Argentinian microbreweries. Luckily they offer half pints (medias} and pints (pintas). Calorific food on sale to soak up the beer! The venue is approx. a 15 mins walk from Ramos Mejia station on the Once - Moreno line, western suburbs of Buenos Aires. Beware trains finish before the bar closes! **as usual Ratebeer map totally wrong**... use Google maps as it is marked on the map.“

CIC Bar (Bar)
ALSINA 894
“A new venue opened in Jan.2019. 12 taps but those include Fullers Pride, Schofferhofer hefeweiss and Blanche de Charleroi and a local(?) Cider Zedryc. That leaves 8 taps for local micros featuring Belsh, Buko and Goyeneche. I think the same are always on but I did pick up Once Olas IPA by Buko. They do breakfasts plus pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, chips etc. Quite good selection of rock was playing during my visit. Location between San Telmo and Obelisco near Piedras and Moreno subte stations.“

“Thanks to an Aussie I met in the nearby Charlone for informing me of this brewery tap. In a large shed / warehouse with brew kit evident and an industrial feel to it. Nice. As were the beers one of which I had was Jalapina (chilli+coconut+lime). A good imitation of a W.Coast IPA, Primordial 7.5% was excellent. ***I too late realise I added this venue as a bar when its actually a brewery tap. Apologies... can a moderator please adjust****“

“Had time to kill when waiting for a train to Lobos so went for a walk... Is more a burger bar with a bar which includes up to 10 craft beers. But they only list the style not who brews it and the staff seemed a bit vague. The beer I had was passable in quality though not great but hey ho better than the Q brand everywhere else in this small town / suburb of BsAs. A much better option on this side of town is Pentos in nearby Ituzaingo which I added last year.“

“Over 95% of trade must be people popping in to refill their growlers, that's their niche. They have 5 or 6 branches in the suburbs of BsAs, see beer app called TAP MAP. “Update 2023 : Sadly this venue CLOSED a few months before my visit in April. // I found this gem courtesy of beer app called TAP MAP (free to download) which has about 100 venues listed, many of which I have added like this one. An attractive building with a large patio at front. Inside an island bar dominates but plenty of seating available. A good choice among the 20 beers on offer. Good quality and keen staff passionate about beer. Food varies from snacks to full meals. I enjoyed black pudding croquets with a tangy salsa. A bit of a trek from downtown but if you have time then worth a detour.“

“Update 2023 - Sadly another covid victim, CLOSED. //Like a micro pub this place is not much more than a hole in the wall ! But it offers 12 taps of good quality beer from local microbreweries. “La Birreria according to their website has 10 bars in it's chain, this being one of them. I added it as much for sentimental reasons (it overlooks the old Cruzat which decades ago was the best craft beer bar in BsAs). Has 12 taps from several local micros. Unfortunately their low mentality of pints only means its harder for us beer tickers...“

“A brewery tap plus restaurant in an elegant old building in part of the elegant horse racing course on the edge of Palermo. A beautiful setting. 20 taps dispensing 13 of their own Rabieta beers plus 7 interesting guests. Food ranges from tapas to full meals and was good. Service was slow at times but hey? in such a nice setting who cares? I sat by one of the patio doors. Further inside is a huge sitting area / restaurant. En route to the toilet one sees the brewery kit and several large wooden barrels with beer being aged in them! The only downside is their beers are not that remarkable, the odd one a bit home-brewish even! Over all, well worth a visit despite the 25 min walk from Palermo station. I recommend a taxi if you go at night. Is so picturesque its going to be hard to choose which photo to upload! Happy hour is 1200-2100.“

“Situated in the large food mall in the basement of the posh Galerias Pacifico shopping centre which has entrances on four streets, Florida being one. [travel tip : the shopping centre is very secure and has cashpoints near the security guards] The food mall includes world brands as well as smaller outfits producing quality fast food. Beer Coffee as it's name suggests is not just about beer but they do approx. 100 bottles of mainly Argentinian micros and 8 taps too. Unfortunately beer is served in plastic cups to drink in the large seated area of the food mall. **map is wrong** is 7 blocks north of where its showing! Look for the Galerias Pacifico centre!“

“Update 2023 : still open and still offering a good range of beers from micro breweries. As they are trying hard in difficult times I have upped my score and thoroughly recommend. // Bit of a yuppies bar catching office workers in suits. A bit pretentious in atmosphere and service can take a long time if staff pouring cocktails. Is generally more expensive than most bars but they do happy hour 1700-2000 daily except Sunday when they are closed. Nevertheless an interesting beer range and it is about the only decent beer bar on the longish walk between San Telmo and Lavalle.“
