“Lovely rustic beer bar, seemingly popular with a local crowd, just east of a small river with mostly Osige and some PerfectLife beers on. Only Korean spoken, and same for menus. However the fantastic service from the sole lady handling everyting from cooking to serving beers, handling customers and cleaning, ensured that this was not a problem. Complementary local snacks served with the beer. A most charming place, I will cherish my memory of it.“

“Ratebeer map is wrong. Put this into Google Maps for the location: 15 Daecheong-ro 135beon-gil, Jungang-dong, Jung-gu, Busan This is a small upstairs establishment which caters for about 20 people. It has two taps of Korean brewery Platinum - Lager and IPA - plus a selection of Kona beers in bottles. Nice enough Hawaii vibe going on here, friendly barman but not really worth going out of the way for. If you are staying nearby and would like to try the Platinum beers, as we were, well why not drop in.“

“NOTE: Ratebeer map is wrong. Put 'Tap Security Place' into Google Maps for the correct location. This a really unusual place - a self serve beer bar. They have a 20 taps of mixed beers ranging from very local craft brews (Gorilla and Wild Waves) to the largest multinational corporate brews (Stella and Bud). You get a microchipped wrist band from the waiter, grab a glass, swipe your wristband above your beer of choice and then pour! Pricing is based on volume. Very unusual system I must say! They also have food but we didn't try. The location is great with an outdoor area overlooking Gwangalli Beach so is great for people watching.“

Sol Taphouse (Restaurant)

“NOTE: Ratebeer map is wrong. Put 'Sol Taphouse' into Google Maps for the correct location. This is a very cool establishment on the 4th floor overlooking Gwangalli Beach. It doubles as 'Slice of Life Pizza'. Beer wise they have 15 taps split into - five from the neighbourhood, five from elsewhere in Korea and five international. All were interesting drops including some pretty special USA brews. The space is very warehouse style with lots of timber in use and smells great with the aroma of woodfired pizzas permeating the room. We had a pizza and it was great - albeit very expensive. Still, despite the cost, a great beer and pizza venue worth making a detour for.“

“A great little bar in the Nampo shopping district. Has eight taps of all Korean craft beers (they no longer make their own beer I was advised by the barman) plus some interesting imported bottles. The room has about 25 seats and is on a corner location 2 floors up making for great people watching on the streets below. All up a really nice venue worth visiting. The only down side is that they don't open until 7pm during the week and 6pm on weekends. NOTE: there is another Akitu reviewed in Nampo but the map location for that review does not match this one. This one is mapped precisely to where I visited.“

“A nice little venue in the Nampo market precinct. The venue is upstairs on level one which from the window seats affords a great spot to people watch the shoppers on the street below. They have about 8 of their own brews on tap, some guest taps and also others in cans. Service and value is fine and the snack food we had was delicious.“

“NOTE: Ratebeer map is wrong. Put this into google maps: "Three Monkeys 쓰리몽키즈" for the correct location. So, we called in early one evening on a Saturday and tried a couple of their beers. They have about 8 or 9 available from memory. They were all reasonable without being spectacular. The venue is English pub style with a couple of levels and a few chairs out on the street, where we sat. They served some complimentary popcorn with our beers. Service was good and overall a nice feel. There's a lot of other beer bars in the area but this is one of the few that has its own beers available.“

“Cozy popular pub in Busan. Taps were not very exiciting but they have huge import bottle list (Oud Beersel, De Struise, FiftyFifty, Evil Twin, Cascade...). Not the place for Korean ticks but offers good choices from elsewhere.“

“A bit rough one room place with bricks and stone. One of the best places for beerhunter in Korea: 11 taps for own beers (now only 6 available) and 14 guest beers from So. Korea micros! Friendly service and Gorilla cans takeout. Gorilla beers are ok too.“

“Accidently when walking out of Haeundae Beach in Busan noticed sign of "Indian restaurant & brewing co.". It is an invitation to beer hunter! This second floor Indian restaurant serves four own beers, sampler set is available. Ratebeer knew the brewery, Bombay Bräu, but had none of beers listed. Later found that it is rebranded Ka-Brew, ticks anyway.. maybe. This more or less like Indian restaurant with own beers.“

“Light 2nd floor place near Gwangalli Beach and with the nice view to the beach. 15 taps and lots of bottles like Cascade, Upright, Fantome, Pohjola etc. 3 Korean beers on tap only. Also bottle shop kind of attached. Although it is "taproom", it is not a brewpub. Nice place to visit.“

“I had the impression this was mainly a taproom for a brewery, but its a beer bar with a couple beers that are contract brewed. I don't think this should be listed as a brewery, but rather bar. Fairly cozy place with a mix of domestic and imported taps and bottles. I had the Saison from OPC and WOW, it was really good and really well made. Staff were nice, but taplist was just ok - like six beers from Taverier, which are not that highly rated. View was good, but honestly I wouldn't put this as a high priority, but could easily be combined with other breweries in the area.“

TIA Pub (Bar)
BUPYEONG GU 2, 27
“The staff at TIA are completely rude and racist to boot. When attempting to order the beers I tap at their bar my small group was denied wish no reason. After further questioning it was established that since we are foreigners they would not part work their most precious of beers, not that I could blame them. After we sat down up enjoy what they would allow our meager taste buds we attempts to get the WiFi passwords and were again denied what was clearly available. WTF? This place has potential but is completely fucked.“

“Big hall with brewery visible behind the glass. 3 brews in a loose German style - not bad. Live music on Friday evening - noisy, but good fun. Decent food. Side note for beer tourists from Russia: this plays bears huge resemblance to Russian Maximilian’s brewpub chain almost in everything - interiors, concept, brews, hell - even the band playing was from Russia %-)). “Another Galmegi tap outlet with this one situated amongst busy food markets in Nampo-dong. Along with the Galmegi range, expect guest taps to add interest in the selection. As a visitor, there’s a good chance you’ll check out Jagalchi Seafood market, and this is a convenient spot for refreshments in town.“

“It took a while to find without access to live google maps but eventually located the bar. It’s situated on a backstreet in a bustling shopping district. The patio is a drawcard and it was a pleasant space to spend some time during the late afternoon here. Unfortunately, the beers lack in the drinkabilty stakes due to noticeable flaws. All told, it doesn’t seem to stop the place being busy with drinkers, so there you go.“

“Wild Waves is a one room brewery tap that focuses on American style sour and all Brett hoppy beers. It’s quite the ambitious approach for such a young beer market but clearly aimed for the beer nerd crowd. I found the Brett driven beers had kicked off noticeable off flavours. The hoppy sours are more forgiving and worthy of a full glass on my visit. These ’wild-style’ brews do show potential and credit to them for having the balls to go all in with these kind of beers. A cool little hangout with guest taps and snack food available.“

“A block away from Haeundae beach and it’s really the only place for a decent beer in the area, so bonus points for location. Galmegi feature beers across many styles that are above average. The seasonal Gose drank well on these hot days. Guest bottles in fridge. The bar is slightly off the main drag and doesn’t appear to get the foot traffic of neighbouring establishments. This was more than a handy spot as I was staying in Haeundae for a few nights.“

“Pleasant little bottle shop with a heavy focus on imported brews. Bottles are stored in a cooler and on shelves. My only concern was that the air-conditioning temperature of the room was very warm on my visit, which can’t be good for the shelf stock. The lady working here was very friendly. The shop is not far from Gwangalli beach so it’s handy for picking up refreshments.“

“Very tiny store that opens an hour later than their sign says (opens at 4pm). The lady rushed to open for us and unfortunately spilled her coffee. I appreciated the effort. Very small store. Was hard for two of us to browse. A couple coolers and then a couple shelves, though most of the selection is repeated. Lots and lots of SD area breweries. Belgians, too. Not much in the way of local or SK beers in general. I was definitely disappointed in that, but I’m sure local patrons love the international selection. Not really a great spot for a tourist looking for SK beers but a great option if in the mood for a hoppy San Diego IPA.“

“In the former 6 Pack Tap House & Bottle Shop is Wild Waves new taproom. How to get here according to their Facebook:

"Get off at Geumyeonsan Station and take exit 1or 3. Follow the road towards the beach about 100m, we are located at the crossroads ."

The wood exterior continues inside and the packed former shop has become surprisingly spacious with a series of long booths on the left and low mood lighting. The taplist is up on a giant flatscreen TV and another shows photos from beer travel. Staff speak English and most beers are brewed at Akitu. Beers are 8000 KRW for a 3 beer tasting set and 15000 for 6. Also pints in the 8-9000 won range.“

“Not yet opened (later this month), I was able to get a visit. It’s a 5-10 minute walk to the new Akitu taproom - the ratebeer maps are wrong, check Facebook.located down Gwangan beach from the rest of the scene towards Millak. It is on the first floor of a golf building and features lots of black.

the exterior street is on a slope and has a white Gorilla Brewing Co. On black background. A small terrace is out front and the brewery is sunken down below.

The interior is wood and black with cool gorilla logos scattered throughout. A ledge standing bar by the exterior window and a dozen seats face the large window onto the brewery. Several more tables complete the seating options while the 6 taps will churn out beer from their 100L batches here,at the Wolfhound and possibly to the chain of Thursday Night Party bars. Really promising place. These guys are very impressive for only having brewed a few weeks and I predict they’ll quickly become number two in Busan and will maybe even give Gslmegi a run for their money.“

“On the main drag to the beach from Geumnyeonsan Station(left side, 2nd floor) is this homebrew supply store. Decent prices for Asia and bigger than Seoul’s homebrew shop. They also have a small(30-50 or so) selection of imported bottles as well as provide brew on premises services. The barrels you may see are filled with a local home brewers/part owners brews who was kind enough to share his BA Smoked Porter when I met him at Wild Waves’ taproom. Not a must stop but a decent enough place.“

“13 taps, 10 listed but 2 were out including a BA Camelia variant . Cool place with 6 or so tables and about 10 seats at the bar. Simple but spacious layout means 30 people can probably fit without feeling crowded. A bit pricey for a brewery taproom but I heard this wasn’t owned directly by the brewey hence they opened a new place in Millak. 20 or so bottles. Service was great one night very friendly and outgoing while on the next it was good . Best place in the area. “

“21 taps with 16 beers on when I went . it’s a great looking place with a bay window providing a view of the bay and friendly English speaking staff. The sea snails in garlic butter were damn good but when I visited to try the deep fried pickled cucumbers the kitchen had closed unfortunately. Prices were average for Busan and they have two varieties of tasting sets (Korean craft or imports). Great place.“
