40 /100 PIAZZA DEL MERCATO CENTRALE
“On the upper food court area in the Mercato Centrale there is a long drinks bar pouring, on the night of my visit, eight taps - seven were Italian (five craft, two main-stream) and one was UK main-stream. There were also three taps for their own brand but these were not operating. They also had 13 cans available, some Italian craft, others German main-stream. Prices are a bit cheaper than craft beer scene venues. It's pub style with pub style service, etc. Non-beer waa wines and cocktails. Lots of food outlets about, often with prices higher than restaurants nearby. Not really a RateBeer place but you can/may pick up a few different crafts.“

“A small bar down a back alley in the centre of town. On the night of my visit there were eight taps, all pouring Italian craft beers. There is very limited seating - a couple inside and it is crowded while outside there were about four wine barrels with stools, which, despite the intermittent rain, were fully occupied, many by locals. Glass sizes are 20cl, 40cl and 1 litre and prices were craft beer scene standard. Staff were welcoming, very helpful and friendly. Non-beer consists of whisky. Worth a visit.“

“nano bar in the middle of florence, down an alley where you might think you'll be murdered but then it's just a bunch of italian students drinking good beer in the street. hardly any room inside, which is ok. a dozen taps of european craft beer, friendly staff, good vibes. really enjoyed my stop.“

“Very small bar, practically with only the outdoor, in a small side sheet in the very centre of Florence. Tables outside consist of barrels and stools placed on the street. Definitely not the fanciest clientele, at least when I went. Host was nice to talk to. Availability was good, though O only tried one. Overall, a good possible choice, but with limits in space (what if it rains??)“

“Small bar (with food) very close to the centre of Florence. Some tables available in a dehor outside, and some inside. Simple atmosphere, with a kind host. Selection is limited to a few beers (6-7), but of good level. I had a rather new Italian sour. Food is traditional Tuscan, plus burger and charcuterie. Overall, a nice place to visit!“

“Very small pub in central Florence. Limited in capacity, but with a knowledgeable host behind the counter. They offer both their own beers and nice other beers from Italian breweries. Overall, a nice place where to drink in Florence. No food.“

“A brewpub that focusses on food. 8 of their own beers brewed on site. I had 2 and both were okay, nothing special. The average pizza I had bore no resemblance to the one I ordered. Glad to tick the place but I would not waste any more time & money here now especially as Archea is a 10 minutes walk away! Untappd for some reason has this as Li Rioni, yet google and photos on Untappd show Rione.“

“Visited most nights I was in Firenze in March 2023. For me this was by far the best beer venue in Firenze. Good choice of styles and local microbreweries. Staff friendly and passionate about beer which says it all. 14 beers on keg and a handpump ("pompa") for cask, the latter was a mild from Alder in very good condition.“

“Visited in March 2023. A five minute walk from the main train station. A lot of mainstream brands but they had two Fullers beer on handpump (London Pride and Golden Pride!) and I Vecc, a saison beer by Podere La Berta Carta Craft Beer brewery on keg. Decor and atmosphere is that of an English pub!“

“If you are in Florence and your wife is tired of you dragging her to yet another beer bar where she can barely get a drinkable glass of wine, then this is the place to go to. It's a very small cheese & salami shop which doubles as a great wine bar, with a few tables at the back. I was very happy to find in the fridge a few different bottles of craft ales from Birrificio Artigianale Math. The couple of bottles I tried were very nice, the cheese & samali platter we shared was very tasty, and the Tuscan wine I'm told was great. Order at the counter as they have no table license. It also proved to be excellent for money! “

“A super cool pub with a very attractive, spacious, clean interior. Not your typical average beers here, only craft stuff that has been meticulously selected. These guys know what they are talking about and now they even have an American pale ale that they brew themselves. It’s located in the San Ambrogio area which gets quite busy at night for drinking. Expect a great atmosphere, it was really nice and cosy. The people working here really know their beer. Would definitely recommend!“

“Old rating from my visit in 2016 - My first stop in Florence as they have there own beer on tap, brewed in a town south of Rome home of one of the bar tenders. There own beer leaves a lot to be desired, certainly judging from the Hydra IPA I tried and there other beers I read reviews online. That was OK as they had 3 other Italian craft ales on tap as well as 3 imports. The Hammer Waverunner IPA went down much better. They had a very good selection of bottles available. Also available for the ever suffering girlfriend/ wife they had some quality wines in 375ml bottles from 10 euros. Prices for tap beers beer 5 euros for 400ml. “

“Great little craft beer bar with about six taps in Oltranto. Mainly locals in, but a friendly welcome. A great place for sour fans-a whole fridge fool on classic sours and at the time of our visit Cantillon Nord on tap! A second fridge has a good range of mainly Italian micros. Well worth a visit!“

“It's a Brewdog, so you pretty much know what you'll be getting. A selection of sours from Overworks make things a bit more interesting. Staff are friendly and speak good English. They put out a lot of snacks at aperitivo time (6pm). We also tried the burgers (OK) and chips (excellent!)“

“Wandered in here for a drink at opening time on a Friday. About 8 taps, nothing too off the scale (although the manager did find me a nice Italian Gose in the fridge). Generous complimentary crisps, olives and corn nuts provided with the drinks. They also have Negroni on tap! The place was full 15 minutes after we arrived. I beelive they share ownership with Brewdog, but don't have any of their beers.“

“Friendly owner happy to talk to you about the list. Tries a couple of their own beers and found them tasty. As well as a good tap list there is an extensive bottle list, leaning heavily towards sours and Belgian brews. Some of them are rare and are priced accordingly.“

“I checked in twice when I was in Tuscany, and I think it's the taplist which is the strongest part of the place, as the bottle selection is quite poor. You can have yourself BrewDog beers of course, and some domestic and other international ones as well, but nothing really special.“

“The bar is located a few minutes walk from the center of town. The main floor is small with a few spots to sit if you are more than 3 peoples. The pace downstairs was not open when I visited the bar. There were 7 Brewdog beers on tap and 11 guest beers on tap where of half was local beers. “

“Before I went to Florence I figured I would hit some of the higher rated beer places. Instead of going beer hunting though, I settled into Off the Hook which was just around the corner from my Air BNB. I visited there six times in four days. This tiny place has a small but focused beer list with mostly Italian micros. It had eight Italian bottles, six Italian drafts and a few other things as well as a cocktail program. It makes me super excited about the Italian beer scene which I have not paid attention to. I didn't try the food which was mostly burgers but they put some fries out for free bar snacks which were good. A guitar/vocal duo played with no cover on Friday and Saturday, the place got nice and crowded and lively on those nights. It seems to draw a lot of Italians as well as tourists and American students studying abroad, but I did not get the impression that it was a tourist place. The staff and owner (I think) were also super friendly and helpful. If I am ever lucky enough to be in Florence again I will definitely visit Off the Hook.“

“For a short stop. Oh, Lord, bless the holy concept of IRISH PUB, the holy place, the home sweet home for many, whenever and wherever, or whatever they travel or get lost, that sign IRISH PUB is the most pleasing to the eyes of sinful. On the serious note, really, got what i was looking for - two pints of proper stuff. And proper it was, including, local imperial IPA "Glaciale". Got my carbohydrates and off ye go! Also, the guy behind the counter, the one who could speak english, was speaking is such manner, that I could not contain myself and do not laught - it's like the guy learnt his english and "how to speak it properly" from honkong action movies, spaghetti westerns and italian 50-60's movies where they portray americans. "CHEEEERS MEIT". That alone is so honest and heartwarming :)“

“Been there, seen that atmosphere. Just in this case - it's a Florence. As always, the most interesting are local beer in good condition. That's some quality you can expect from BrewDog bar. Impression I got is that guys working behind the counter are quite knowledgeable, but were too busy to chit-chat with kitcher, even if I sat by the bar and no, my nose wasn't in smartphone.“

“2018 november. One of the worst beer experiences ever, I mean EVER and has to do with one of the guys working behind the bar. For me, beer and craft beer, if we have to stress it, is about being open-minded to anything - experiences, stories, people and so on. Came to this place with quite high anticipation - found it just walking around the city: boom, a proper looking bar. Wanted to talk about beer, beer market in italy with the guys. Ofcourse, I asked why prices of bottled beer and draft one does not correlate - had a theory that is all about taxes and maybe beer places in Italy have quite high marge in general. What I got was a lecture, that I came from damn cheap and poor country - instead of answering my question, they asked where I am from. Having nothing to be ashamed of, I said "Lithuania". And thats where it began. Any argument, any hope from my side, that we could chat and find mutual agrement or respect was blocked by that "You from Lithuania, poor country, everything is expensive for you here" (yeah, when accomidation is cheaper in Florence, books are cheaper, "poor" is so much more complex phenomena than just "you are poor, it explains everything". Damn, I am not nationalist or anything, usually not a very sensitive, but the ignorance of these guys, one guy particulary, was so shocking, that I just left and couldnt drop it out of my head for a few next days. Just such a sad sad sad ignorance. Totally worst beer experience ever.“
