“Use to be pretty god, but as most Meny shops the beer selection is decreasing and less interesting. Perhaps still a bit over the average Norwegian grocery store with a decent selection of the safer stuff, but very few interesting beer/ciders really. I think most Meny at this size got more than less the same basic selection.“

“I have visited this pub many times, many years ago. Telfords Pub opened in 1972 and is the oldest running pub in Kristiansand. The pub is connected to Radisson Blu Caledonien Hotel but is by no means a boring hotel bar! Real English pub style, brown interior and varied seating. Long and narrow room with a inner section behind curtains. Two dartboards. Small covered patio in front. Nothing crazy on tap but decent selection in the fridge. Several from Lervig. I enjoyed a pint fresh Guinness from a new keg! I enjoyed my stay before going on a craft beer rally at "Dark Night 2023" at Nøgne Ø. (Visited October 14th 2023)“

“Been here multiple times. Nice British style pub. The selection on tap is not much to brag about (but I won't turn a Guinness down), but apparently their bottled selection has improved in later years.“

“Rustic brown interior, staff is friendly and profesdional. When served an ipa that was gone, the bartender tasted from my glass, spit, nodded and served me a substitution. That’ s the we we like it!“

“Nice classic English type pub. Quite place to have a decent beer and some god conversations. Not a place for the latest NEIPA hype or silly expensive bottles from USA, but for the true beer enthusiast you would find a well thought selection from some of classics within the styles like porter, stout, bitter, brown ale, classic IPA and geuze etc. Sometimes it’s just nice To relax with a few good beers without being afraid of have tasting them before.“

“Sørlandssenteret shopping mall is rather large by Norwegian standards. It is still easy to find this bottle shop, RB map location is very accurate. Vinmonopolet is also nearby. Good selection and very friendly and informative service. I found some bottles not available at my local Gulating in Stavanger. (Visited August 19th 2022)“

“I arrived on the dot at opening time and upon ordering their reasonably priced tasting meny I received a truly superb service. Lacking two of tap their beers, they compensated by offering me a very generous alternative. Truly friendly and enthusiastic bartender. Will definitely be back next time I'm in Kristiansand.“

“The best shop in Norway, beer-wise. At least of the ones I’ve seen my self. Absolute plus for having big refrigerators with beer. Perfect for stopping by on the way home from work, buying cool ready-to-drink beer. I also find a good selection of classics here, and not just trendy beer. Smaller shops tend to only follow trends.“

“SHIT Place. This used to be a great place with great selection, I have been here before they changed name and content. Today this is probably the worst place in Kristiansand to visit and should not even be listed on Ratebeer. Selection like none, just consum beer for them that want cheap beer and do not think about anything but price. Visited 11.05.2019. Sorry guys wantet to put 0000 but had to put 1111.“

“I have visited this place some years ago, and it seems to have improved a lot in the latest years. Larger beer selection, more oriented around local and regional beers. Multiroomed pub, with dark wooden walls open fireplace,oak floor old historic building, I was impressed by the food, not so of the slow table service,, but overall, this is a well recommended beer place in Kristiansand.“

“More of a dining place now, with a limited beer selection on tap, if its allowed to call 10 taps limited. 2-3 taps empty at my short visit, the rest was mostly Norwegian micros with some from Aass as well. Well worth a visit, but dont expect too much“

“Burger joint where you can get beer. 3 taps at my 2 visits, 2 industrial and one micro, an IPA from Cervisiam. Better selection in the hidden fridge, there is a bottle menu available. Burgers was ok, ordinary, rather slow service, Some irritating fruit flies, suggest challenges with hygiene. Music from a christmas playlist....“

“Another update for April 2023. Various changes around beer profile at Kristiansand’s pubs. Patricks is without doubt back as the number one pub in town. Some interesting local meads, not seen many other places is also available for the time being.
Time to adjust my 2011 rating. Not the best beer pub in town, but still somewhere around top 3. After last makeover this is more in the direction of a shopping mall beer café than a real beer pub, but still not a bad beer pub at all. Untappd friendly tap list with about 15 taps, but about half of them is rather standard stuff with close to no rotating. Among the rest it’s mostly easy drinking APA, IPA etc. but any now and then there might be something more interesting. IMO the bottle list is the most interesting part, quite often there might be something extra interesting in the fridge that never made their way to the written menu, so it might be a god advice to ask somebody among the staff what’s interesting. And by somebody it means somebody that seems to have an extra interest in beer, as the staff varies a lot but most of them at least try to do some extra effort. Food is OK from some pub snacks to burgers and some more regular café menu stuff. I tend to enjoy this place most during early day when not so much people hanging around here, and that might be the biggest advance behind this place. There is no other place you might start with a craft beer as early as 11 AM.“

“Visited 19.11.18 while waiting for the train. A brown pub in Kristiansand city centre with a combination of industrial and craft beer on tap. Very expensive beer prices, even to Norwegian standards. Good service, though.“

“Rerate at visit 03.09.21. The bar is renamed Brygghuset. They had only four beers on tap at my visit. Two were their own and the other two were CB and Hansa Mango IPA. They have a extensive, and horrendously expensive, list of bottled beers. Visited 19.11.18. Nice brewpub at Kristiansand city centre. Six of their own beers on tap at my visit, and I could get all six on a taster board for NOK 149,-! Good service. [rates 3,8]“

“This should be updated if old rating. This shop is now one of the state monopoly shop with status as special shop. That means it has an extended selection including beer and beers from special limited releases. Bottles that would take advance of cool storage is placed in refrigerators and all beer are stored standing and sorted in a reasonable logic system. I don’t know the staff knowledge but assume it would be like most other Vinmonopol shops, e.g. depending on who you talk with – some shoes an interest in beer and other not. Personally, I know what I’m looking for and prefer to browse around by myself.“

“My local Vinmonopol shop. Rather average selection in general, but clever with local breweries. Staff is very friendly and helpful, and as I always order my beers by web shop for delivery here it’s really not important if the staff has any beer knowledge. But they are clever, helping my out with wine stuff as I sometimes shop as well.“

“Quite the same as other Meny grocery stores in the Kristiansand area. As expected, lots of Norwegian craft beers and some foreign too. Since we had just visited Meny Albert , we did not find any new beers. Well worth a visit if you are staying West of Kristiansand and don't want to drive further East. “An ok Vinmonopolet bottle shop to visit if you are in the area. Inside a shopping centre. If you make a detour, you are a place ticker as me! But, they had a good selection of local beers which can be hard to find in other parts of Norway. When you enter, you see a shelf with local bottles: Qvart, Hunsfos and Christianssand. Nice! “A nice grocery store with a wide beer selection. Lots of beer from local breweries like Qvart, Hunsfos, Kjerlingland and Homborsund. This store also offers a beer brewed exclusively for them: Hunsfos Alberts IPA. Hopefully, this is not an alias beer! Very easy to visit by car too. (Visited October 12th 2018 with Geir)“

“Time to re-rate again:

I wrote in my rating from 2015 that I thought they diden’t have any intetion of beeing on the top 5 list of beer bar in town. Now in 2018 I think they are probably sometimes number 3 and sometimes number 4 depending on the relevant tap list. Anyway, this has become a must visit place in town. Interesting and rotating beers on tap, sometimes special releases from Qvart, some interesting bottles in the fridge and dedicated staff who knows their stuff.

Old rating: Not the greatest selection of beer in town and they don’t intend to be a top 5 beer bar of the town either. A decent selection of safer craft beer covers most of the styles you need to drink various beers throughout the evening. Friendly staff and the building itself are interesting. Nice place for a couple of beers, a chat and some pub games if desired. “

“Certainly more a restaurant than a pub. When you enter you see a sign saying: "Wait to be seated" We were just interested in hanging around by the bar. No problem said the smiling young waitress. Beer selection? None interesting on tap and about 30 bottles/cans, some great beers but nothing new. Disappointing. Move on. (Visited October 11th 2018 with Geir)“

“Comfy sofas and nice service. Easy listening music (Amy Winehouse) at our visit. Beer? A bit disappointing that 4 of 10 taps were empty. One new beer from Qvart, three classics from Nøgne Ø, otherwise nothing special. Not at all a must visit craft beer destination in Kristiansand in my opinion, but of course worth checking out. “The interior has changed since the place was known as Kick Malt og Mat, but it's the same rooms. Less focus on beer, tap list down from 40 to 12, and also less bottles, but the food seems to be at the same high level, if not even higher. Not a place I visit a lot, even though I should be here more frequently I think.“

“A nice gem right in the heart of nowhere. You will not find this place unless you know some weird beergeeks or getting married with a lovely girl from this area.
Old barn that have been rebuilt into a rustic restaurant with a large wood fired oven to make food. And a lot of old farm objects hanging around. Also a barking dog that hangs around. Tried to bite me actually ha ha.
Good food and actually quite nice beers.“

“Visited during RBNG 18. We had a tutored tasting with the brewer. Highly recommendable. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Do also have a small shop that you can buy most of their beers at 4,7% and below. Norway…….

“Stunning place, in the middle of nowhere, a brewpub with a wood-fired pizza oven, interior like a museum for old farm equipment, a perfect place for big occasions. Good beer as well, they brew with Speidel but the brew kit is located outside the public area. We had a great time here with perfect pizza and tasty beers. (Visited at RBNAG18, 3.3.18)“

“What a place! Winter wonderland when we visited. Really great ambiance in the countryside right by a golf course, Bjaavann Golfklubb. Inside the "barn" there is a huge wood-fired pizza oven. A small water pond inside, old horse sledges and other farm related artifacts gave this place a rustic charm. Two brothers, a brewer and a pizza chef, were great hosts. We tried 5 beers and a cider, the latter both unpasteurized and pasteurized. Nothing extreme, but really decent beers, and cider. I guess that people in pre-booked parties want beers that are easy going. Two issues: everlasting country music from the speakers and a little, annoying (cute?) dog, if that's a problem for anyone? “The bus left Grimstad 09.30 in the morning and we had our first beer at Qvart before 10.30. Nice, although we ended our night session in the apartment two o'clock last night! The brewery is not big, almost everthing in one room. We met the brewer and got 4 tasters. Nice chat about beer, future plans and more. Small bottleshop with "all" beers up to 4.7% available. “Visited during RBNAG18, 3.3.18, first stop at our coach trip. Located close to the football stadium and also a camping ground nearby (Roligheden). We had a short tour of the premises, including some tasters of their beers. There is a small shop selling their 4,7% beers, also growlers. Well worth a visit if you travels in these parts of Norway. Check Facebook for opening times .“

“As already mentioned this is not a place you may pop in for a beer or a meal, but a converted old barn that can be hired for different kind of parties. The place is not possible to reach by public transport and a bit off from almost anything. If you’re lucky enough to find yourself here for any kind of reason you will be quite happy to find a very warm and relaxed atmosphere. The staff is very welcoming and happy to tell you about everything from the places history, the food and their beers. The beer list is limited and not exactly made to challenge your pallets, understandable enough, but made with enthusiasm and a clear idea of what they want to offer. Their house cider is also worth mention. I have had the opportunity to eat dinner here at some previous occasions, before they start brewing and would definitively recommend the food. Good traditional food made with a modern twist and true love for the ingredients. Hope to be able to visit again soon.“

“Restaurant concept has totally changed. They are serving low cost dishes with a decent wine list and just a basic beer list. Beer prices are very affordable (for Norway) but the selection is not interesting for a beer geek anymore even if they still have one bottle of Nøgne Ø and one bottle of Austman.“
