“We visited here on Thursday 27th September 2012, this was the first night of our holiday and we stuck the camper in the large lay-by parking bays alongside the garden of this bar/restaurant. This place is situated just off of the Diksmuide to Ypres road and is very easy to find. It is quiet modern and is definitely geared towards the food side of things. It was quiet when we first ventured in here and to be honest it was quiet when we left, I guess that there were never more than 10-12 people in here which considering the size of the place did make the atmosphere a little flat. This is another one of those Belgian establishments where you are subjected to an endless stream of fairly awful music (that is my opinion of course) The beer list was pretty good and prices were about what one would expect. I had the house beers Kipperbier Donker and Kipperbier blond both were absolutely fine and brewed for them by someone else, I need to find out who that someone else is, though I guess that they might be re-badge’s I asked the lady serving and also a gentleman who was a regular and sat at the bar but neither knew, though they did give me the impression that it was done somewhere else and a re-badge. The food was fine, we paid about 25 Euro’s each and both had paling (Eel) in different sauces. However if I was to compare against De Vlaaschard in Stene, then De Vlaaschard does eel and actually food in general so much better and it always has the most wonderful atmosphere, however even the music at De Vlaaschard is not so great. So whilst this wasn’t a great visit, I would guess that when busy and I bet this place does get busy then it would have a lot more going for it, but I must add that the place was spotless and the service was very good.“
