“Difficult to rate this visit, since there is no visit available when you get there. The abbey is beautiful (at least from the outside) and you get to visit the church, if you want. After that, go to Rochefort proper and have a Rochefort in a nice bar, because you won't be able to drink one here.“

“This is a diamond in the rough. Small-ish bar in a small town. Doesn’t serve food. The proprietor has an amazing selection of bottles. It’s about 60 or so, but they are nearly all from top in the country breweries. This is a well-crafted bottle list in a small town. The prices are also amazing. Local Rochefort 10 was about 4 Euro a bottle, nearly a full Euro less than we saw in larger towns. In short, it’s a local bar in a small town, but amazing tap list and a really great owner.“

“Nice shop in the city center kind of tourist trap. Limited choice in beers but with some local (and not so local) products.“

“Nice drink mixed with decoration shop in a very hidden corner of Rachefort. Some local and non-local Belgium beers at affordable prices. A not so big selection but some nice beers. Nice service.“

“Perhaps the best beer spot in Rochefort, cradle of one of the finest trappist ales in the whole world. Definitely worth a visit.“

“No place available to drink their beers, nothing for sale. At least that is what we were told. You can see some building & a warehouse. There was apparently an exposition somewhere inside but we didn’t go there. There is nothing basically here to visit as far I can tell.“

Drink Scaillet (Beer Store)
RUE DE LA GRIOTTE 1
“Great place to buy beers when you are in Rochefort. It is very well hidden and there is no ad to be seen, but we got the bottle shop as a recommendation of a local women in whose house we have got an holiday appartement. She told us that the prices at Scaillet are way cheaper than in any other supermarket and that the selection is just big. So we drove there the next day and after some searching we finally found it very well hidden among other industry. Pubs, restaurants, hotels, bars etc. from the area buy their beer there, but also normal people can go there. The staff speaks little bit English, is friendly, helpful and it isn’t a problem to bring back all kind of Belgian bottles for the deposit system. The selection is just overwhelming. There are so many beerswhich are available in a crate or single. There is even a corner for homebrewing with bags of special kind of hops, Lambic etc. The selection of the beers is great - some of them I’ve never seen somewhere else. Prices are -for Belgian standards- exceptional low. E.g. paid for a 0,375l Cantillon 2,59 €, for most normal small bottles around 1,40 €. Cheapest Belgian Ale -leaving the cheap brands on the side- was available for 0,56 €. And for each beer you also find the right glass to buy. Will go there tomorrow again and can only recommend it. You can text me for the directions (because our navigation system in the car didn’t find the road).“

“Little shop situated along the main road in Rochefort, near the cathedral. Some parking slots just in front of the shop. This isn’t an exactly beer shop; it is more of a shop for regional products -also pates, sausages etc- and high end wines. It is very cozy and has got a modern wooden interior, the staff is friendly and helpful - and speaks -for a change- English. The beer selection is rather low but you may find the one or other beer you don’t get in the supermarkets. Prices are little bit above average.“

“You can’t really visit the abbey, but it’s always possible to buy the regular Rochefort beers.“

74 /100 RUE JACQUET 8
“We visited here on Saturday 8th and again on Sunday 9th June 2013. A nice little bar just outside the immediate centre. It is easy to find, you just head up the Rue Jacquet and it is on your right, number 8 I believe. I have really struggled to find out anything at all about this place to assist people further, so sorry for that. The bar is just a very traditional bar there are a couple of tables outside which are pretty much on the pavement close to the road. Inside it is a smallish rectangular shaped establishment with the serving bar area covering much of the left hand side save for a table or two by the front window. Service was good, beer choice not exceptional but the best that I saw in town with a few newish ones and a well chosen if familiar selection of others. As indicated we visited here twice, I think that I preferred sitting inside, we sat at the table immediately to the right as you enter by the window. There is a large fridge at the rear of the pub at the end of the bar which is worth looking at because there were certainly some beers in there that were not on the beer list and at least three that I’d not seen before. Really nice, no frills, friendly little bar.“
