“This is a large imposing place in the centre of the village just down the road from the Ruhardushof. We heard a rumour from a Norwegian couple at De Struise that they were installing a new brewery on the premises. On arrival we were met with extremely friendly and enthusiastic service from dad Conrad and son Sam who informed us they had just started brewing on site after a period perfecting their beers at Gulden Spoor. I tried the Dubbel Bruin & Triple Blond which were both very nice if not exactly exciting. One to watch.“

“After 3 yrs of closure this once great pub has been resurrected and saved by the people who own the Oud Vlandaeren in Poperinge. The previous owners carried out a completely pointless modernisation and removed most of the character that made this place special, and went bankrupt for their efforts. (I believe a similar fate befell the Flandria in Veurne). In it's present form it is still worth a visit but is not the gem it once was. If anything the beer list has improved with all the regular beers from De Dolle and several from De Struise all at unbeatable prices - Pannepot is E3.40!!! and no beers exceed E4.00. If you are not familiar with the pub of old, you will probably be impressed. Thank you to the present owners for saving it.“

“A smallish cafe and beershop that serves two interesting house beers: Forte Bruin, which is a sweet brown ale, and ’n Blauwer, a hoppy 10.5% brew, both on draught. Food includes several local specialties, including a cold dish that looks like several small animals in jelly. The shop has a wide selection of West Flanders ales, and the owner is very knowledgeable and friendly.“
