90 /100 The Craft Bar (Bar) MELCHOR CANO, 14 Bar with a good selection of their own beers and other Spanish ones. |
74 /100 Erasmus Bruin Cafe (Restaurant) CALLE DE MELENDEZ NO. 7 Visited Februar 2008 |
72 /100 SAN JUAN DE LA CRUZ, 8 Bar with a small selection of Spanish Craft and International beers. |
78 /100 The Holy Cross (Bar) CALLE OBISPO JARRÍN, 12, Must be one of the best Irish Pubs I have been to. Different dark wooden decorated rooms, cozy atmosphere, nice outdoor seating - and a bit of everything when it comes to the large beer menu, from Foster lager, via Guinness to quite a lots of craft beers from Spanish breweries like Basqueland, Garage, Nomada etc. They also had bottles from the local La Bestia Craft Beer Brewery, and their own beer called IPA HOL´C made by Danna Brewery Co (which I could not find in RB). Friendly and knowledgeable service. Located right in the middle of Salamanca, close to the market place, Plaza Mayor. (Visited with Frau Eva, 06.09.2023). |
48 /100 SAN JUAN DE LA CRUZ, 8 Six taps; two IPAs from Founders, on Stella Artois pilsner, a cider from Kopparberg and two from Taproom Madrid. Quite large corner place with central location in a bar- and restaurant arena close to Plaze del Angel. A few seating outdoor. A rather sterile room with the Burrito counter to the left of the entrance. Friendly barman, but without any information of the Taproom beers. (Visited with Frau Eva, 06.09.2023). |
68 /100 The Irish Theatre (Bar) RUA ANTIGUA, 11 Irish-style pub with a small but good selection of International beers. |
62 /100 La Favorita (Grocery Store) RUA MAYOR, 20 Delicatessen style grocery store with a small selection of craft beers. |
72 /100 La Cueva del Lúpulo (Bar) CALLE CABEZA DE VACA 2 Bottle shop with a small but decent selection of craft beers. |
68 /100 New Palacio De Los Licores (Beer Store) CORREHUELA, 24 A small selection of Spanish craft stuff here, as well as Belgians and Germans.
The place is very much a (very good) wine shop. You have to hunt, but the beers are behind the central pillar! |
92 /100 SAN JUAN DE LA CRUZ, 8 Excellent bar shared with a burrito restaurant. Next to the Food Market and close to the Plaza Mayor. Part of a small chain based in Madrid.
14(?) taps, with a mix of Spanish micros and international RB faves.
Definitely the best craft beer place in Salamanca (and certainly not an Irish theme pub!) Seemed very quiet: people were mostly there for the burritos and apart from a board outside you wouldn't really notice it. Hope it lasts! |
64 /100 HOCES DEL DURATÓN 113, NAVE 7 Local brewery.
The owners are really friendly. |
60 /100 New Palacio De Los Licores (Beer Store) CORREHUELA, 24 Liquor store with a small but decent selection of good Belgian and German beers.
You can also find some local craft beers. |
66 /100 O’Hara’s (Bar) CALLE ZAMORA, 14 Irish style pub.
Really small selection of Irish, German and Belgian beers.
No craft stuff.
Free complimentary snacks (chips, omelet, chorizo,...) and really cheap prices. |
66 /100 The Holy Cross (Bar) CALLE OBISPO JARRÍN, 12, Irish style pub.
Small but decent selection of beers.
Mainly Belgian and some Spanish ones. |
72 /100 The Holy Cross (Bar) CALLE OBISPO JARRÍN, 12, We visited The Holy Cross, Saturday 30th June 2018, we'd cycled along the river from our campsite Camping Don Quijote, Cabrerizos which was 6km to the east of Salamanca. The Holy Cross is a centrally located, if you visit the magnificent square of Plaza Mayor and leave by the exit to the right or east you are right by the Mercado Central, walk around the northern edge of this past the statue/sculpture in the pavement and walk down the slope and The Holy Cross can be found on the right hand side. I think that the road is called Calle Obispo Jamin. The Holy Cross as you might have determined by the name is another attempt at an Irish bar of which Spain seems to have plenty of. It was quite small and dark inside probably feeling darker as it was now really sunny and warm outside, this following an indifferent morning of sun, rain, wind and cloud. We sat outside at one of the tables out here, the France v Argentina game was on a TV but owing to the glare of the sun it was hard to watch it properly. Beer choice here was much better if you went for a bottle, they had a number of Brewdog and seemed to be local stockists with glasses and other details indicating this. There was also a good choice of Belgian beer once again but also a smattering of local micro beers. I had an Imperial Stout from Cervezas Garriela (well you always should go for a refreshing beer in this weather) the brewery were from Salamanca. The barman looked a bit like Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips.. We liked this place but left with the score 1-0 to France, they would eventually win 4-3 we didn't find another decent bar open at this time so missed all of the excitement. |
76 /100 Erasmus Bruin Cafe (Restaurant) CALLE DE MELENDEZ NO. 7 We visited Erasmus International Saturday 30th June 2018, we'd cycled along the river from our campsite Camping Don Quijote, Cabrerizos which was 6km to the east of Salamanca. Erasmus is a centrally located Café and can be found on Calle Meléndez. Inside there is a a main bar straight ahead that runs the length of the room with seating off to the left hand side. However there is a a covered area off to the right which is I am giessing is the covered garden area others commented on, it didn't look or feel like a garden to me mind. We sat outside at one of the few tables located out the front, this of course offering a great opportunity to people watch, a particularly fond pastime that Loz and I share and enjoy. The beer (bottled) choice ran to about 90 (I counted) and was strong on Belgian beers with plenty of classics, so Loz opted for an Orval. There were about 15-20 local micros also listed so I had a Bizarra Red Demon from Salamanca followed by a Aribayos Z-Abadía from Zamora. This was a popular place and a number of folk attending some of the many weddings taking place today popped in very smartly dressed for a drink or two. The prices were very reasonable and the service tip-top, we liked this place. The lovely looking dog tied up opposite us while we drank and whilst his owner was inside was fun to watch. |
56 /100 Erasmus Bruin Cafe (Restaurant) CALLE DE MELENDEZ NO. 7 Nothing to mention on tap, some nice bottles...bartenders clueless about craftbeer. |
66 /100 Slainte (Bar) VAN DYCK NO. 5 Only real craft beer bar in Salamanca that I have visited. |
48 /100 Erasmus Bruin Cafe (Restaurant) CALLE DE MELENDEZ NO. 7 Kind of stumbled onto this. 6 taps, nothing crazy though. Good enough to get me in the door. Good mix of belgian and spanish bottles. Service was awful. Very slow and care factor is minimal. |
56 /100 AVD. JUAN PABLO II, 126, PLANTA BAJA Very good service. I have not tried the online service, I have gone there directly.
They only can sell four kind of beers; even when they produce some others, they are not allowed to sell them (legal rights).
It is a brewery and they are not used to serve in person (so the decoration and ambiance are not high) |
86 /100 St Patrick’s Museum (Bar) CALLE OBISPO JARRIN 2 A so called Irish pub one minute walk from the Plaza Mayor, at one corner of the Plaza del Mercado. Numerous TV screens showing different sports gave us a chance to catch up with events at the Criterium Du Dauphine. Friendly, knowledgable bar staff in the cellar bar which had a good choice of Belgian bottles and some lesser spotted German ales including Wieherstephan Korbinian (with which we raised a toast to Jezza, as the UK election campaign was in full swing at the time). Drinks and food were also served outside in the market square. Less than 4 Euros for beers like Duvel or Chouffe Houblon. |
64 /100 Erasmus Bruin Cafe (Restaurant) CALLE DE MELENDEZ NO. 7 Six beers on tap, about 60 in bottles, including a decent number of Spanish beers (15 to 20). Pleasant biergarten to one side of the bar occupying the space left by a demolished building allows some peace from the bustling street outside, but beer service was slow - we had to go inside to attract the boss. Went back later in the evening for a meal. Food quality was fine, but service was terrible - at least one couple walked off without being served after waiting for about a quarter of an hour to order, and the cafe wasn’t even busy at the time. Better venues available in town. |
78 /100 Slainte (Bar) VAN DYCK NO. 5 Nice neighborhood bar a short walk from my hotel. 8 beers on tap and a very large bottle selection. Prices were fair and service was decent. Had beers brewed in Salamanca available plus some of "their" own beers. Pleasant surprise. |
70 /100 Erasmus Bruin Cafe (Restaurant) CALLE DE MELENDEZ NO. 7 Buen restaurante para turistas. Tapas y platos correctos.
Wide selection of imported and Spanish craft beers. Both in bottle and taps (5 to 10). Food is really good (Spanish tapas. Spanish dried meat toast or beef jerky toast, named "tosta de cecina", is a must try). Relaxing and friendly ambiance. |
82 /100 Slainte (Bar) VAN DYCK NO. 5 La nevera está muy bien surtida de cervezas locales. La selección de extranjeras está muy bien. |
60 /100 New Palacio De Los Licores (Beer Store) CORREHUELA, 24 Solid store near Plaza Mayor that stocks bottles from 3 Salamanca based breweries. I stopped in after seeing a bottle of Delerium Tremens in the window & I’m glad I did. Focus is certainly on wine & liquor but the availability of local bottles as singles makes this a worthwhile stop. |
40 /100 PASEO DE LA ESTACIÓN, 1 Wide bar inside of the new railway station of Salmanca. Much large one, with wide chosen of places to seat. Gaut and rather classic beers on tap. The same thing can be said for those in bottle. Large chosen of things to eat, much miscellaneous menù. |
