“Small place in old San Juan down an alley as the name would suggest. Wasn't open at noon as google suggested, so went to Lupulo then came back an hour and a half later. Small friendly place with high ceilings. They do flights. About six on tap when I was there, though they had capacity for a few more. Beer was just OK.“

El Tap (Bar)

“Great place for craft beer near the beach in Ocean Park. They have a ton of taps--in theory--though when I was in more than half were tapped out already. They do flights and the food was decent. Service pretty good, the guys know their stuff about the local beer scene. Lots of local stuff on tap here as well. Second only to Taberna Lupulo in terms of Puerto Rican beer places in my experience. Wasn't very busy on a Saturday afternoon when I was in.“

“Hell yeah! This is probably the one place to visit if you have hardly any time in San Juan. From the moment you arrive you know you found the right place. Not only is it on a cobblestone street in old town, it's a true beer bar with a deep menu, colorful atmosphere, cool staff and patrons. Has a nice long bar and several tables, casual and raucous, small back patio. Full food menu but I didn't eat. Expensive especially for flights but worth it.“

“Closest beer place to the port. Long bar down one side. Four taps all Ocean Lab during my visit. Two good size refrigerators of beer in the back left and right, around 100 different bottles or so. Service was good. I did not try the pizza. I would go back.“

“Not too far from the cruise port (up hill). Several doors on two sides of this place. Medium sized L-shaped worn bar with some table near the perimeter. Young crowd with loud music. Even at 9pm at night this place is hot and it seems no air conditioning is available. Pricing is high. Service is average at best. Big selection of taps here.“

“Market where the beer is in the front left. Girl at the check out, but nobody to ask questions. Singles Puerto Rico pale lagers, Ocean Lab Beers, and some American beers. Pricing was good. I would come back. The bottom left cooler changed from Ocean Lab beers to Old Harbor, so it seems their selection does change.“

“Everyone’s already told you how good the beer, selection, and service are, but nobody mentioned the wings. Yummy!“

“Stopped by with some local acquaintances for a few beers. Cool vibe right on the corner with an open air feel similar to New Orleans. Prices were a bit steep but that’s how it is in PR. They had a large amount of founders on too and happened to have KBS on, pretty unexpected.“

“Great beer bar with lots of character in the middle of old town San Juan. Huge beer menu and great setting. A must visit if you are in San Juan.“

“This was the largest of liquer stores I visited (well, it is grocery shop as well) in this area (Condado). As well as other places, no Puerto Rican micros here but quite large selection of American craft beers. Nothing fancy, but for European customer this was worth of visiting few times. Prices were 2.00-3.50 USD range.“

“Small beer selection of American and Belgian bottles. Nothing special, there are others in the same area with same or better selection.“

“More or less what solidfunk says. Opens very early and daytime is popular among the local drunks and bums. All regular size American beers I bought were 3 usd so same or even cheaper than in the liquer shops. Sam Adams Tasman Red 3,20usd was nice price for 650 ml. Only PR micro is Old Harbor on bottle. I was the only one drinking craft beers in this bar.“

“This is possibly the best beer bar in PR. Whopping 50 taps with several interesting PR micros on. Otherwise loads of American craft beer with some Europeans. Service was always nice and they give you small samples from.taps to help your decision. Busy and popular place.“

Buns Burger Shop (Restaurant)
CALLE CARIBE ESQUINA ASHFORD
“Burger joint with a good selection of beers. They advertised local beers on draft but I noticed only few Old Harbor beers on bottle.Otherwise splendid selection of American and Belgium beers for a place like this in San Juan. I had Abita Restoration Ale and Twin Turbo from tap. Burgers are excellent, all 100% Angus beef!“

“Nice corner bar in old San Juan. Very open with limited tables, but huge bar and stool seating. The bar wenches are very friendly and know there trade well. Very educated on styles. Selection is amazing with tons of American beers, European favorites and slightly lacking in Puerto Rican brewed beer. Price is spot on with other American bars. A must stop in San Juan.“

“Large supermarket chain, with a nice selection of beer. They have several sixers and four packs, single pale lager cans, and US breweries large 750/bomber format such as abita, Brooklyn, and others. Worth a stop if you need large quantities of beer.“

“Great place in San Juan. Awesome tap list and bottle list. Lots of good American microbrews with a few Belgians on tap and in bottles. Prices vary from around $4.50 for basic American taps to 7-$8 for European imports like Belgians and Mikkeller. Lots of Lost Coast, Ballast Point, Ommegang, Abita. Bottles include a few top beers like Founder’s Breakfast and Bell’s Expedition. Constantly rotating tap list. Also lots of locals here, which surprised me for Old San Juan. And this was in the middle of the day when cruise ships were infesting the neighbourhood with camera flash.“

Smoke it Cigars (Beer Store)

“Small bong and cigar shop off the beach in Condado. Has a surprising selection of American singles and a couple of Belgians. All around the $2.50-$4 range. Nice place to grab some cold beers for the beach. Had a bunch of Sam Adams, some Abita, Founders Breakfast Stout, Bells’ Java, some North Coasts including Rasputin. Bongs and beer on the beach - word.“

“Sports bar in Condado close to the beach. Has a good selection of American craft brews to drink in bar or available for take out. A few great beers like Founder’s Breakfast Stout and Old Rasputin. Lots of Abita, Brooklyn, Sam Adams and a few Founders and Bells. Bit of a boring atmosphere for San Juan but if you like sports bars it’s alright. Nice looking girls in here but all spoken for. Vibe a little bit anti-gringo here, mostly locals. Bottles $3-4 for most with a few more expensive ones like Gulden Draak 9000. Some bombers and Old Harbour from PR as well. Ok if you are in the area but wouldn’t go running back.“

“After having gone to too many bars than I care to enumerate in San Juan, I can say that this is the only place you can get serious beer in a non-cruise shipified atmosphere. Bartenders are really friendly and fairly knowledgeable about beer. Definitely worth checking out.“

“The best place to have a beer in Puerto Rico. Great selection, good enough prices, proper glassware and good service. The food is incredible! A nice mix of local and pub food made with beer lovers in mind. The best selection I have seen in the Island.“

“Truly THE place in Puerto Rico for beer! The owners are constantly increasing the number and variety of craft beers available to beer drinkers in P.R., a most difficult task given the restrictions of the island’s import laws. I know that one of the owners is currently working to bring more Midwest craft beers to P.R. by going to them personally. It is this kind of devotion to their product that makes the owners able to talk to customers and educate them about each brew. Whether you are new to trying out new beers or an experienced lover of craft beers, La Taberna Lúpulo will greet you with its warmth, some delicious food, and a great time. And the best part is, the next time you come back, there will almost certainly be another new craft beer to try!“

“Hands down the best place for craft beer in Puerto Rico. Impresive selection of over 100 bottles, at very reasonable prices. Food is a fusion of local and pub sandwiches. Proper glassware. Lively crowd is a mix of young and old, tourists and locals.“

“Located in the Super Ritzy part of San Juan. The most exciting place to locate hard to find international bottles on the island. In most stores you will find only 3 to 4 bottles in their selection. Go somewhere else and they will have 3 to 4 different varieties on their shelves. This place offered all of whatever was available on the whole island, whether in can of bottle. I found Polar, Polar Ice, India, Medalla, Barena, Sam Adams, and many others.“
