“The beer range is rather more pedestrian than it used to be. 6 beers on usually. 2 from Greene King and the house beer from Tower - Bursley Bitter. 3 rotating guests can be unadventurous at times. Expect horse racing on the TV screens in the day.“

“I was told about this pub by someone in the Congress, Longton so decided to give it a whirl. Formerly a Thwaites house and now a free house with 4 cask ales. 2 from Lymestone, 1 Bass and 1 Hobsons. A welcome addition to the real ale scene in Fenton and worth a visit.“

June 2013 I’ve not been here for a while, and unfortunately it’s not what it used to be - only two real ales at my last visit - Abbot and Bombardier - no longer recommended, there are now much better places in the City centre.

May 2007 I have to admit a slight bias as I’m Potteries born and bred, but as far as I’m concerned this is everything a city pub should be. Friendly and inviting, seemingly untouched inside for at least a hundred years, and with a range of real ales to boot.

I picked a particularly good night as Liverpool were playing AC Milan in the Champions League final - a big screen TV in the corner, and lots of good natured support and backchat for Liverpool. Beers were as haddonsman described, and well kept. “

“I grew up in the Potteries, but even I thought twice before stepping in to this pub - to say it looks grim from the outside is going easy on the place. Once inside, I was surprised to see that it was established in 1986, as the grime seemed to indicate it was at least 100 years older than that. The clientele was entirely male, there was a poker game going on in the back room, and horse racing on televisions throughout the bar. But apart from that, there was a range of real ale in good condition, even if the majority was, unexpectedly, from Greene King.“

“My local pub; great little pub; many different beers on and change every week; they also have a fine selection of Belgian Beers and also shorts of main brands; food is available but nothing more than sandwiches, crisps etc. The Bursley Bitter is a mainstay on the menu at all times due to a contract; they do have a great seasonal selections with superb drinks during Halloween, Christmas etc - it’s a must go place for real ale’s if in the area.“

“Visited here during a Stoke pub crawl which also included a trip to the nearby Titanic brewery. It was a Saturday afternoon and this place was very busy with folks either eating or watching the football so there was a bit of queuing involved. When I finally got a drink it was the local house beer Coach House Dick Turpin as there had been a couple of others on but had recently sold out and weren’t yet replaced. I think I could enjoy this place a bit more on another day hopefully when it’s a bit less packed.“

“On the main road, half a mile walk from Longton rail/bus station. Worth the walk if you’ve been stuck in the ale oasis of Stoke centre. Next door to a Wedgwood factory shop as well. Three rooms (bar, snug, games) served from central bar, real fire in bar, TV for sports/music but unobtrusive during the day. House beer is Coach House Dick Turpin; Abbot and London Pride are regular, three varied guest ales from around the country.“
