“Visited here Saturday 10th June 2023 on a weekend where I was on my own as Loz was in Volos, Greece for a week. I stopped off here after a few hours at Nürnberg Bierfest. This was another highlight of the weekend. It is about 1km or so from the station, it took me about 15 minutes to walk it and it was straightforward if you use Google, I guess you could get a bus or Taxi as they both drove right by here. This is a little oasis, the Biergarten was lovely and was located out the front with a large serving hatch sort of in the corner facing opposite the main entrance to get inside. Food was cheap, good portions and excellent I had Nürnberger sausages, potato salad and mustard. I also had a Hefe Weisse beer here and it was nice. There was a brief shower, which to be fair was needed, but then the sun shone again in minutes. Staff were very friendly, keen and swift with service. I really, really liked this place.“

“A clear wall of beers sorted by style and conveniently stacked crates of bottles underneath. Very wide selection of local craft beers and products of local breweries as well. Some beer curiosities such as cucumber beer also available. Convenient location in a shopping mall. You can also count on competent advice from the salesperson. You can get a cardboard beer carrier when you buy a bunch of beers. Some beers also kept in refrigerators, cooled and ready to drink. Good place for beer geeks and curious 'layman' as well.“

“Busy early evening venue. Just the one on-site brewed beer at the time of my visit (May 2019)“

“Rather big place packed by locals on a Saturday afternoon (finding a free place was not easy). 2 local brews were in great shape. Clear local favorite.“

Fränky's (Beer Store)
ARTILLERIESTR. 52
“A large bottleshop, like the other Fränky's places, also selling other drinks and liquors. Selection is lots of Franconian goodies for very cheap prices, standard Franconian fare, so very good if you are in Erlangen and a ticker tourist.“

“The bottleshop of Kitzmann, located in the same house as their brewpub and brewery. They don't only sell Kitzmann beers here, it seems like a standard Getränkemarkt. I am not sure why people say this is hard to reach by car, I saw a dedicated drive-through lane going around the house to this place.“

“The name is programme here: This is a literal Hinterhaus. They have a varying taplist of good Franconian beers (when I was there, they had Rittmayer, Krug, and Lindenharter for instance) and an extensive bottle list. All the bottled beers I tried here were fairly fresh. Good for a couple of ticks, and I can imagine this is the divebar choice for Erlangen people.“

“A tiny brewpub that is quite popular with the locals. Only two beers on tap, but both were in good condition when I was there. Quick and nice service, some authentic food options which are fairly priced. A fun brewpub.“

“Visited Sept '17 late afternoon and for a short while I was the sole customer. A Helles from Alt, Dietzhof on draught, and I was able to purchase a bottle of the Dunkel from the same brewer to take away. Modern ambiance / décor and as the website address suggests is attached / part of the manhattan cinema. About 5 minutes walk from Erlangen railway station so convenient to visit for the beer tourist.“

“Good stop in Erlangen, maybe a bit hard to reach by car, Especially parking close by is a problem. Not only the unspectacular beers from Kitzmann, but also a wide choice of Bavarian beer available. Even some craft beers from in- and outside Germany. Prices are a little bit higher as usual, but still quite acceptable. Worth the trouble of a visit.“

“Visited during the Bamberg Jolly of January 2014. A decent spot. Big and fairly modern. Meh decor. Only two beers on during our visit. So so overall.“

“Smaller drinks-market on the premises of the Kitzmann-Brauerei, selling not only their own beers, but also a pretty limited selection of brews from smaller franconian producers; if You prefer franconian wines or spirits, some bottles are waiting for You too. Recommended, but - cave - not easily reachable by car!“

“This brewpub has a nice patio but as it was wintertime when I visited it, sitting outside was not an option. It has a small room with only a few tables on the street level which is decorated with brewing kettles. Below it there is a huge cellar which is decorated with hops on the ceiling that I liked a lot. There are long desks by which you can enjoy a beer or a Bavarian dish. They served 2 kinds of beer (a year round and a seasonal). Overall a nice place.“

“Large and stylish interior, off the beaten track it terms off German brewpubs. Modern but in a comfortable old world style. Selection was disappointing but the beers fine. Nice place to go, but nut much ticking to be had here on our visit.“

“Visited during Jolly to Bamberg 2014. A bit tricky to find. Was hoping to find a few more beers here. Decent interior, reasonably crowded.“

“Very popular with locals, most seemed to have walked or cycled. Great atmosphere. Yes, really liked this place and the helles is lovely. It’s about 10 minutes walk of the stationwhich is only about 20 minutes north of Nuremberg.“

Markgrafen (Beer Store)
WETTERKREUZ 8
“Typical Markgrafen Getränkemarkt off of the A3 in Erlangen. Decent selection of regional Franken beers but not much outside the region aside from the macros. But, regardless it’s a okay place if you need to stop to pick up some of the better mid-Franconian stuff. Service was helpful, and the prices were really good. In all, it’s a little better than your normal German Getränkemarkt.“

“Big, popular garten, packed on a Tuesday night when the weather was threatening all kinds of nasty things. The beers are on the sweet side for Franconia, but otherwise the place is nice. They have a stork nest and stork-cam set up, but no stork action on our visit. We didn’t eat.“

“Very cool beer garden in center of town, with towering trees and storks nesting. Inside they have the stork nest Web cam, but there was no action when we were there. The interior is small and not as nice as outside but the brewing equipment is there to keep you happy. It was raining so we had to sit inside. The place has a youthful but diverse crowd, lots of college students but also older bohemian types. Nice vibe, too bad about the beers and the barfarific music selection.“
