“A classic Zoigl place, biggish sitting area, plenty of communal tables, seemed like a friendly atmosphere in general. I was extremely tired, only coming for one Zoigl, which I nursed - sadly, it was quite diacetyl-riddled, but drinkable enough despite that. Next time I visit I'll hopefully be able to go for food, but had to give it a skip this time. Good service overall. I can see having a lot of fun here in other circumstances!“

“Ground floor, classic hotel restaurant that happens to be in Neuhaus, right next to all these Zoigl places, and carries Zoigl itself. First thing you'll probably see walking from Windischeschenbach, climbing up that lovely hill, so you'll hopefully be thirsty. The somewhat sterile atmosphere, relatively busy though it was, was made up by the closest thing to a selection of beer we saw in town. The Zoigl they had is actually Schoilmichl nowadays, which was excellent, though if I remember correctly, the most expensive of the trip (3.10€), making it both the most and the least expensive Zoigl we ran into that day. They have a couple of other taps and several bottles, but was in no shape for ticking - after the Zoigl got the Reuther Lager, which was utterly buttery, damn. Good service, of course. Didn't eat this time myself, though the carp was apparently well done. All in all, worth a stop, you'll get a tick or two here.“

“Visted April 2022 and stayed one night. Nice hotel in a perfect location with all the Zoiglstuben in Neuhaus/Windischeschenbach around. Great breakfast, modern rooms, beds not that comfortable. They have also a Gaststätte with one Zoigl on tap, always available, but not sure whether they serve Bahler or Sausewind Zoigl.“

“Visited April 2022. Again a typical Bavarian Wirtshaus, only cold Brotzeit available. Rural and down to earth, friendly service, good prices, two beers on tap (Zoigl and Zoigl Weizen). Nice place!“

“Visited April 2022. Classic Bavarian Wirtshaus with wooden interior, very friendly staff, familiar atmosphere and very down to earth. There’s only one beer (Zoigl) on tap and it’s a great one. Food is only cold and warm Brotzeit. Very good prices as usual in this region. A great experience.“

“Stayed in the hotel and was quite satisfied. Breakfast was awesome but I did not get to try dinner. One Zoigl was more mainstream in taste, but much better than older reviews have described it. As they serve Zoigl daily, you will certainly be stopping here for one. Worth it.“

“Note: I wandered in, unknowingly, during a private home brewers party. They still served me, and once I figured things out, I apologized and left. Kudos to them for letting me have one. This is a beautiful place, both the building and the garden. The service was nice enough to take care of me. The Zoigl was great.“

“Visited with SinH4 and CS, and this was unanimously our favorite spot of the day. Not just because the zoigl was delicious with a slight edge of farmhouse, but also because the owner and locals were extremely welcoming. Several large communal tables up front. Very much fish themed. Outdoor seating as well, though it was snowing when we visited so we stayed warm and cozy. Tasty snack food and sandwiches.“

“Visited with Travlr and CS. A surprisingly large spot in Windischeschenbach with an excellent Zoigl and tasty snacks. Very pleasant and welcoming experience due to both the other guests and the brewer. Had a great time there.“

“Very busy venue with a nice atmosphere. Found a place at a table in one of the many rooms. Felt like the whole village was there. The Zoigl wasn’t great but the food was and prices were amazing. I had the smoked trout which was in excellent shape. Had a great time.“

“Nice Zoigl place with an authentic feel. Coming in we were greeted by rather drunk youth. The atmosphere inside was great, with the exception of outbursts of loud drunken yelling in the next room by aforementioned youth. The available Zoigl was not too great, but the food was and prices are good.“

“One of half a dozen Zoiglstübe on the village’s small square, just down the hill from the communal brewhouse and staffed by the family who are one of the shareholders in the brewery and occasional brewers. The only one that kegs its beers but the rough-and-ready nature of the beer here might even benefit from that. An exquisitely neat occasional food and drink vendor that makes up part of a unique and great tradition.“

Ambiance - We walked from Schlosshof and it’s quite a climb to reach this stube in the neighbouring village. Nice roofed outdoor patio. Plenty of locals enjoying their Zoigl. Very relaxing.
Service - Prompt but had a hard time speaking English. No biggy though, they understood what we wanted.
Selection - One beer and it’s good.
Food - Did not eat.
Value - Extremely fair.

“Just a short walk, my friend Alex fist said. But he didnt see on the map that is was a huge clamp up to a small village located on a really steep hill. Once we got there we were really thirst, and maybe that was part of finding this the best of the Zoiglstuben we visited. Nice service even if they did not want to speak english, cool wooden interior indoors and a nice patio that was decently crowded this Sunday afternoon. Worth a visit, but do take the car!“

“Visited and re-visited pre, post and during Oct 3 Weekend 2015 - favourite Zoigl of the Neuhaus strip. Very warmhearted people indeed, including quite a talkative and geselliger/sociable Wirt help compensate for slightly lacklustre (canteen-like) inside seating environment in colder weather. On-site and fresh, this Zoigl had almost a saison-like wildflower quality to it, that proved ephemeral as it dissipated from the growler as soon as we had left the territory...“

“Visisted and re-visited during Oct 3 Weekend 2015. - The more obvious and bustling hub at the head of the Neuhaus Zoigl strip, a beer-dispensing miniature city-upon-a-hill full of charm and character. Had excellent smoked trout and other, meatier rustic snacks to go with several helpings of smooth Zoigls. Would not mind visiting it in its function as cultural venue, although the city museum right next door is worth a brief peek in as well.“

“Visited during Tag der Kommunbrauer 3. Okt 2015. The Zoigl the furthest out there in the Neuhaus strip - right around the corner from the actual Kommunbrauhaus. - "Urig" - aka rustic-quaint-homey in the most basic of senses that it’s hard to pick up more than 50% of Mr Schoilmichl’s meandering anecdotes in broad Oberpaltian slang as he picks your Tisch to perch on and share. The cloudy, sweetish Zoigl goes very well with such a semi-surreal environment, as does the waiting for an exotic coffee to go with that sweet Brezelgebäck.“

“We were there in the spring when the sun started to varm and we could sit outside in the pattio and just drink good Zoigl and enoy the fine wiev. A bit slow service but they were putting the pattio in order. Nice fresh Zoigl stube with big toilette. Didn’t have anything to eat here.“

“This nice Hotell has a good Zoigl and good food. When we vere there we had entertainment from a batchelerparty that came by with a tractor and a big load of beer and boys that started dansing and singing in the street. In the eavning we had a good meal all very reasonably priced.“

“Friendly old brewer serves the Zoigl from early in the morning. The food is just cold cuts. He also had a wheat beer but that was not brewed in the Zoigl brewery. A bit har to understand his german. The outdoor part of he stube is a bit simple and just by the street. Fortunantly the street don’t have much trafic.“

The place is more like a hotel - restaurant - stubbe in one mix, and not as most of the traditional Zoigl places in town. Staff is friendly. The day we visit they where all boked with privat party so hard work to be let in ad get served .. but but since we was danish we managed :D“

“Visited on 7th oct 2014 .. The place looked completely brand new .. A not so big single room with the usual table and benches .. Service was just fine and the waitres just did her job and that’s it .. The beer instead was very good and full of flavour ..“

“This was our 1st stop out of 4 .. The place was almost empty apart for a table with some old local guys .. It’s quite large and looks nice and the all the decorations for the national day ( 3rd of oct ) which is the best day to come here when ALL the Zoigl stube are open .. I expected a bit more from the beer but it wasn’t disappointing maybe just because was the first of the day and we came from a hard night the day before :-)) .. The lady who served us was really really nice with her little English .. At a certain point Mr Punzzman tried to speak in German with us but unfortunately we cant at that level I think he was talking in the local dialect because my friend speaks a bit of German but didn’t catch nothing !!!“

“Visited Nov 2012 .. Nice atmosphere and as someone else already said it’s like sitting in a kitchen / living room .. The girl who served us was really nice and friendly in a real way and the beer great ... Maybe I made mistake no ordering the cheese plate bacause I had the worst good ever had in Germany , it was a plate of cold salami ,wurst and black pudding that was really bad !! That said just avoid the food and enjoy the friendliness and the good beer !!“

“Visited mai 2014 with my parents. The local village hotel, also have their own zoigl. Being placed in the center of the village easy to find, and parking close by. Very friendly staff, and their zoigl was served with a smile and in good condition.“

“Visted mai 2014 with my parents, on our great Zoigl tour. Smaller place, friendly staff and a nice beer. Outside, a big beergarden, where the cats where enjoying themselves, they had the area to themselves, it was raining, so we stayed inside. Easy to find and with parking close by.“

“Visited spring 2012 with my parents. A big, BIG barrel outside tells us we are on the rigth spot :-).. Cosy place, nice atmosphere, friendly staff and some nice beers, for sure worth a visit, if you are in the area ( and even worth travelling for ).. Parking within walking distance. They serve food as well but we didn´t eat there. As many other Zoigl place, remember to check when they are open...“

Makes a great base for Zoigl tastings - minimal distance from all the Neuhaus Zoigl houses and not all that far (1-2 km) from the Windischeschenbach ones (although the walk back up the hill after drinking all the Zoigls is a bitch). Great regional food and a nice breakfast. Zoigl always available.“

“One of the first of the present Zoiglstuben, with a somewhat older interior, you still get the impression you’re in someones kitchen/livingroom, which makes it very traditional. Beer and food are on par with the other Zoiglstuben.“

“The first Stube I ever visited, and everything was perfect, right from the start. Very friendly reception by the senior chef himself (Der Käck’n, Ernst Schönberger). Have been back several times since. Great beer, great food, great atmosphere.“
