“Located in the old town, it is a brewery with a hotel attached. The staff was very friendly. They have 8 of their own beers to choise from. The beers were pretty run of the mill with the exeption of the "zoigl" beers. The menu is typical Bavarian fare. Nice place to check outif you are in the area“

“Cracking brewpub this. For a German brewpub there is a big selection of beers, fresh and well brewed. The service is snappy and friendly and the barmaids are in traditional garb. Comfortable interior. Very nice overall, perhaps off the beaten track but well worth it overall.“

“A hotel with its own brewery, rather upmarket for my tastes. Service was unexpectedly friendly though and took interest in our rating antics. 8 (proper) beers altogether, 4 draught, 4 bottled, the quality of which generally isn’t very good, the exception being the unfiltered ’Zoigl’ which I thought was remarkably crisp and drinkable. Prices are rather good.“

“It’s a long walk up a steep hill to get there, but well worth it. Good selection of their own beer on tap and bottle. Friendly atmosphere and good service. Good beer.“

“Quite a nice place but it was a challenge to climb the hill to get there from the trainstation. Nice classic german style bierstube with 9 different beers during our visit. Some beer were really good, others were average. Nice service, did not try the food.“

“Somewhat upscale Brauereigasthof with a good restaurant. Quite large beer selection, incl. two unfiltered beers called Zoigl (Hell and Dunkel). All beers are interesting, some very good. Rooms are a bit expensive, but with some reason (long beds!). Located in the centre of town, about 10 minutes from the railway station.“

“Went twice, once during the day and once at night. It was like two different places. Basically it was a great experience both times. During the day it was just the two of us. The lady was super-friendly and showed us the anniversary beer in the bottle in case we missed it on the menu. At night it was packed with locals and was easy to make friends.“

“Newly renovated, very clean and professional operation. Excellent service. Great place to stay in Sulzbach-Rosenberg or as general base of operations for the region especially considering this is a brewery. The rooms are humongous and very comfy. The kitchen is solid, and I get the sense they try hard instead of going through the motions.“

“Friendly place, full at night with a boisterous crowd. Warm and cozy. Good beer - they had a couple of real winners. Extensive menu, if what you want is bratwurst anyway.“

“Stayed here for four days. The staff is friendly and professional. Food is Bavarian standard. The beers are okay - a good range but none stood out to me. Very beer oriented place with lots of breweriana.“

“Quite cozy, dim and old-fashioned Gasthaus on the edge of the Old Town. Never saw it overcrowded..... Worth a stop!“

“There are two brewpubs (see also Sperber Brau) in this small town, so it is worth a stop. Fuchsbeck is rather less up-market than Sperber Brau, although the interior looks quite cosy. I would guess it is more of a locals place than Sperber although the inside was deserted when we visited mid-afternoon on a Friday. So, as it was a hot day, we opted to sit on the terrace, where there were a sprinkling of other customers. As we only had time for one beer I went for the unusual 2.8% dark hefeweizen - Schlanke Schwarze - which came in a bottle (not sure whether that is the norm). Unusual beer it may have been, inspiring it was not. Would have liked to try some of the other beers but Amberg beckoned. Worth a visit.“

“Although it has a fairly standard Bavarian village brewpub look from the outside, this is a quite up-market brewpub/hotel in a pleasant small town near Amberg. Sat outside on the small terrace out front, where service wasn’t too attentive - they seemed to be more concerned with serving lunch inside. Bizarrely, bumped into some English people who lived in Amberg here. Don’t know who was more surprised - us or them. Decent Pils but the Steiger Schwarz (note this is a wheat beer not a schwarzbier) was not very schwarz and not that great. Didn’t eat. Being a two brewpub village, Sulzbach-Rosenberg (see also Fuchsbeck) was a handy lunchtime stop on the way to Amberg but probbaly not enough to keep you occupied for an overnight stay.“

“Bigger hotel and a luxury brewery-tap in the center of Sulzbach-Rosenberg, friendly service, average beers.......“

“Never stayed in a gasthof, but for those that don’t know this combines a brewpub with a hotel - great concept or what? Wonderful food and simple, but excellent food. Small and out of the way in a small Bavarian town. Feel extremely luck to have stumbled upon it.“
