42 /100 Sarandy’s Village Market and Wine Cellar (Grocery Store) 5755 ELEVATOR ROAD I’ve visited this place three times I think - first about 10 years ago on a visit out here, next about 3, shortly after I moved, then today. It’ll be my last visit for a while...the selection here may have been pretty good 10 years ago, and dim memories suggest that they devoted about as much space - a couple of shelf units and 3 cooler doors - to craft beer then as they do now. But selections have improved dramatically in this area in the last decade and this place no longer cuts it. Nothing here you won’t find elsewhere - including at a Schnucks just 1/4 mile to the west on the same road - cheaper. Commoner Founders, Goose Island, Stone, etc, that’s about the kind of stuff you see. Very few bombers/750s, no singles. I did pick up a Joseph James beer - Nevada rating, finally, woo hoo! But that’s the only thing I saw of any interest. Somewhat sketchy looking place also, I should say - more security than is usual around here, and lots of empty shelves each time I’ve visited. Hmmm. |
44 /100 Sarandy’s Village Market and Wine Cellar (Grocery Store) 5755 ELEVATOR ROAD This is a nice small local beer store that has a fairly good selection of micro brewed beers. Mike, the manager there, is the beer guy and is pretty knowledgeable. Usually between here, Everetts in South Beloit and Woodman’s, you can get any of the locally brewed beers and most of the belgian brews.

Store now has most Great Lakes beers, also has Flying Dog, Goose Island, Tyranena, Sprecher, and some Three Floyds. |
