“One of the closest bars and grills to my house, and a place I frequent regularly. Over the years their focus on beer has increased significantly, thus the entry. Typical suburban bar and grill setup, with seating at the bar or in tables and booths throughout the restaurant. Beer selection is usually between 12-15 craft beers, with a focus on locals and Toppling Goliath. Food is solid, good specials throughout the week. Highlight of this place is the service, everyone is always super friendly and helpful. (Worth the visit, must for locals, and visitors with time) I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. Staff welcomed us and said if we needed any help, let them know. Beer cooler in the back corner, lots of beers, both local and out of state to choose from. A few warm beers on a shelf or two, but mainly cold and ready to go. Keep a cooler in your car. No singles, were able to pick up a couple of sixer for the rest of the weekend.“

Harry's Liquor (Beer Store)
11721 ROE AVE, SUITE A
“This is the closest liquor store to my house, and in my rotation. Harry’s is your typical Kansas Liquor store next to a Grocery store setup. Over the years, they have steadily increased the quality of their craft selection, and it is now to the point where you can reliably find some good one off and seasonal beers. Many of the local KS and MO breweries featured. I wish they did singles, but otherwise a good solid choice. Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time. I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Visited on a Saturday night. Second location of The Burg & Barrel in Overland Park. This location is much newer, and more open. Bar seating and tables seating, nice outdoor patio. Beer selection similar size to the other location, with 14 beers on draft, nice variety of styles and breweries. Small or full pours available. Service was hardworking and friendly. Will certainly become part of the regular rotation for the family. Trivia on Wednesdays.

70 = **½ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Basic liquor store with a quite small beer selection. All in cold as all the beers are in the walk-in beer cave which is really cold. Wear a jacket when shopping here. Non existing selection of singles. Not much Kansas beers available but maybe there aren’t that many...“

Rye (Restaurant)
10551 MISSION ROAD
“Visited during happy hour on a Thursday. Rye is a must visit from a food perspective, though this review will be entirely focused on the beer selection. Large space with a long bar, large dining room and big patio. Service is great, pure professional, quick with a sample and a recommendation. Beer selection has evolved, and now has a nice focus on local and unique beers that are interesting with food. 20 draft beers and 24 on the bottle list. The beer draft selection in mid-August 2016 was (to give indication of selection): Boulevard Wheat, Boulevard Pale Ale, Boulevard KC Pils, Boulevard The Calling, Boulevard Tank 7, Goose Island 4 Star Pils, Goose Island Gillian, Crane Kumquat Weisse, Ballast Point Watermelon Dorado, Lefthand Great Juju, North Coast Old Rasputin nitro, Bells Two Hearted, KC Bier Der Bauer, Coors Banquet, Stacksbury Cider, New Mexico Happy Camper IPA, Firestone Walker Wookey Jack, Martin City Yard Bird, Guiness and Stone Woot Stout. The Martin City Yard Bird was a collaboration between Rye and Martin City. Rye also frequently has beer dinners.

70 = ★★½ (Locals should check it out, visitors with extended time)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“9 times out of ten you will find someone at the store that really knows beer. It is very well organised, very clean, better prices than most if not all the nearest competitors. Except Sunday, (you have to cross the border to get beer on Sunday), these guys will meet most beer cravings.“

“Visited midday on a Monday. Beer is in the back corner, three fridge doors facing out, as well as a large walk in beer cave. The beer cave is really cold. The outward facing doors are organized by Ratebeer rating with the shelf talkers, which was pretty cool. Selection is solid, prices seemed to be quite good. Service was non-existent, though I did stand around for awhile to get checked out. They had some Blvd Imperial Stout still, which had been gone for awhile from other stores. Solid place, I’ll certainly put it in the rotation.“

Lancaster Liquor (Beer Store)

“Nice little neighborhood liquor store. Obviously under new management. Selection is decent for this size store, craft selection is better than imports. The owners seem really nice and eager to help. Great looking store and nice atmosphere.“

Lancaster Liquor (Beer Store)
3731 W 133RD ST
“Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to check the place out after new management / new name. The previous store in this location (Stoll) was pretty thin on both beer selection and service (surly at times). The new layout is similar, though they have expanded beer selection to include one shelf of warm beer. Most of the usual suspects are here, Blvd, Tallgrass, Schlafly, etc. They have really no imports, and the craft selection is just ok. There are no mix a six options, and only a very small handful of large format bottles. This is a decent shop if you live nearby (which I do) and need a six pack for a party (which I did). The service was really great; they were warm and welcoming.

64 = ★★ (Just ok)

I only use the total score, not the component parts.“

“Although they don’t have a large variety of beers, the (new) owner is more than willing to order whatever you need/want. Quite helpful. Large variety of wine. (previously Stoll Liquor)“

“Great Layout for a Kansas Liquor store, They actually have a walk-in beer cave which is plenty cold. There is a decent selection of beers throughout the beer cave. It is well organized and properly laid out. From outside the cooler there are several doors of mix-a-six (quite a large selection at that) There are also 2 doors of various bombers and Belgiums.“
