78 /100 2170 62ND STREET Located on a huge parcel of land with tons of parking and a deceptively large tasting room, with lots of outdoor seating for the warmer months. A dozen or so ciders on tap with flights of 4 available for $10. Very well-crafted ciders, certainly above average for the US, with lots of farmhouse character in many of them. Service was nonchalant, but prompt as you order at the bar. I enjoyed my quick visit and would recommend the place. |
74 /100 6054 124TH AVE. An orchard/restaurant/cidery in Fennville a couple of miles away from Virtue that has been around for a century. The ambiance is old-school but pleasant, with outdoor seating available. We didn’t eat, but judging by the wait, the food is probably good. Service and selection are solid (they also have their own fruit wines) and the value is good. Worth a stop if you’re in the area, and I prefer it slightly to Virtue. |
72 /100 2170 62ND STREET A cidery in Fennville with a cool outdoor area that has cornhole games and picnic tables. The tasting room is inside their barn warehouse. They have a decent selection of ciders on tap, as well as bottles to go. Service is good, but the ciders are pedestrian and way overpriced IMO (upwards of $6 for a half pint and double the price for a pint). Worth a stop if you’re in the area, but check out Crane’s too if you do, as their ciders are as good or better and a far better value IMO. |
72 /100 2170 62ND STREET This place is quite a bit off the beaten path. Clearly still a work in progress, there’s a large dirt parking lot with two large buildings. One building seems to still be under construction, while the other houses the tasting room and some production. The tasting room seemed to be run like a wine tasting room, it’s a free guided tasting of 6 solid ciders. Bottle prices are a bit higher than I can find the bottles locally but it’s cool to be able to buy at the source, |
