“Pretty typical Hopcat in Holland, MI beers- solid, good fries- you know the drill.“

“Gutsy move to open 2 doors down from New Holland, but you know what ... I like this place better. NH is all about their Dragon's Milk and feels like a bit of a tourist-focused spot with its huge gift shop. This place is more of a neighborhood tap. The staff was SUPER friendly and gregarious, knowledgeable about beer and open to giving tips about other stops to make. The tap list had a good range of options, and all that we tried were solid and true to style. No food, but they're OK with bring your own. Excellent place. Brewery #1004.“

“I think most beer nerds in the midwest knows New Holland products, so it was fun to visit home base. I was a little surprised, though, about how much they lean on their Dragon's Milk stout -- they must've had 8-10 different versions of it, filling about 1/3 of their tap list. Another third was filled by ciders. Otherwise, it was their flagship Mad Hatter IPA, a couple koelsches and maybe 1-2 other things. So if you're into Dragon's Milk, you'll have a heyday. Big schwag shop that included theirs and other local spirits. Honestly, I liked the smaller local two doors down. Brewery #1003.“

“Just a block off what seems like the main drag of little downtown Holland, this is pretty expansive, modern space. Essentially a restaurant wrapped around a huge bar, they have a HUGE tap list, too. But they had (I think) seven IPAs with few descriptive distinctions to choose from. Plus a lot of flavored ciders and other Millennial crap (sorry, I'm a grumpy old man, I know). But the service was pleasant and timely. We had an appetizer which was really, really good, too. Pretty solid choice in town. Depends what you're looking for, I guess. Brewery #1002.“

“They have expanded a bit with a bottle shop next door, I liked the friendly staff. The food was tasty, place was hopping. The many stouts on tap were better than most. Beer garden and upstairs nice, and a long bar. well natural light. We will keep coming back when in the area“

“Large and busy industrial taproom, we ordered from the bar. selection of beers were heavy on IPA and lagers. I had tried the only 2 dark beers, the glasses might need a little more cleaning.“

“Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. Nice big bar area, plenty of tables and a nice outdoor beer garden. Plenty of room to move around, a gift shop attached to the bar area, lots of beers, ciders and merchandise to choose from. Food menu looked good, we just tried the pretzels and a couple of beers. Well worth the stop if in the area.“

“Stopped in for beer after dinner at New Holland and really liked the place. Nice looking space, sat at the bar and staff were top notch, helpful with beers and happy to pour tastes for you. Lots of NE IPAs on draft and a couple of good malty beers.. Picked up cans to go.“

“In downtown Holland. Large restaurant with gift shop next door. Large selection of their regular beers and many pub-only selections. My wife and daughter absolutely loved their food (and I was told to give it a perfect score). Street parking only (was a bit hard even during a weekday at lunch). Great place.“

“Nice, modern design with a large dining area and extensive bar. Excellent collection of New Holland beer, many of which are not found outside of the brewpub. Food is OK and service is fine, but not exceptional.“

“New Holland is right in the heart of downtown Holland, on the corner of Collage and 8th, the main drag. The space is very big for a brewpub, with a large entrance, huge bar room off to the right with a mezzanine above it for another floor of seating, another dining room to the left, a merch/distillery/to-go store on the far left, a small patio in front, and a large patio out back. There are 20 taps at the main bar and 10 out back, with a little overlap. Good mix of styles, and all house taps. The service was excellent. The food was pretty good, too, and prices are as expected. It's a big, fun, inviting brewpub and I can see why it's so popular. I'll try to make it back next time I'm in the area.“

“Big Lake is in downtown Holland, just a block north of the main strip. It's a nice renovation of a brick building with an arched ceiling. The space is big and roomy, with a long bar on the right, tables all the way through, some sofas in the back, and a huge, beautiful patio out back. There are coolers and stacks of to-go cans available. There are 16 beers on tap, with 3 house ciders and 1 kombucha, as well. The service was fine. The food is good, slightly upscale-seeming for pub grub but not overpriced and just the right size. I got a flight of 6 beers for $12, served in a fun metal Lake Michigan-shaped tray. My wife got a couple half pints. Along with food, the whole bill was under $40. Overall, this place is excellent and definitely worth a visit if you're in downtown Holland, where you can hit it along with Our Brewing and New Holland on foot, with very little overall distance between them.“

“Stopped in here while walking around downtown Holland with a napping baby on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't crowded at all, and I opted to sit on the back patio, which unfortunately had worse music than the front room (which was playing great stuff, but was slightly louder and not conducive to a baby's nap). I got a couple flights and the bartender couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. There was a decent variety of beer on tap, probably about a dozen or so overall. The quality is good, but nothing particularly out of this world. There isn't any food, but plenty of places nearby (like a beer bar next door, or New Holland a couple spots over). Nice, inviting atmosphere overall, great service, and I'd be a regular here if I lived nearby. Along with New Holland and Big Lake, there's quite a bit of good selection in downtown Holland.“

“Visited on a Friday afternoon. Very close to New Holland Brewing. They weren't super busy, maybe 15 people in there total. The beer selection was pretty good here. They had good variety in their brewed offerings, and even had a few different ciders available. Friendly service. Beer flights available. You could pick six beers for $8. Quality of the beers were good as well. Only complaint is the music was not to my taste, and too loud, but overall the place was good for a quick visit. If I would ever return, I would sit on the back patio.“

“Cool find during our one night stay in Holland, MI. Big Lake Brewing is relatively new to the scene. Convenient downtown location, beers ranged from above average to excellent. Waitress was helpful and wife of the owner who I think was the head brewer. Good and friendly service. Great find overall.“

“Busy spot on a Saturday, seems more commercial than I was expecting for Holland. Solid draft list of their staples, plus lots of one of offs. A couple really nice sours, a good Dragon's variant. Service was slow. Food was ok, but I was expecting more. Decent if in Holland but not worth an out of the way stop.“

“This place is awesome! The bartender was great as well. When we went they had just re-brewed a bunch of their early beers, so that was fun and interesting. I love me some Dragon's Milk!“

“Had dinner here at the bar and found a good beer and drinking destination. 70 taps with lots of Michigan micros, some US craft standards and a few internationals. Nice selection of whiskey, wine and cocktails as well. The food was really good- wood fired pizza and other good stuff, staff were nice, right down the block from New Holland.“

“Great location on a beautiful main street. Good selection of taps and spirits made there. Service was excellent in the large restaurant. Food was good but portion was a bit smaller than I was expecting. The steak was good! The gift shop is well stocked to take a souvenir home. A must-visit in Holland.“

“Third stop for us in this area known as "Beer City". New Holland has a lot of space. Plenty of tables inside and out, upstairs and at the bar. The food was good as well. They have a large gift shop, beers to go and a distillery as well.“

“Surprisingly big operation considering its location in the touristy downtown of Holland. Generous bartenders offered samples of the organization’s beers and distilled alcohol products. A few brewpub-only beer offerings were delightful. Good food menu attracted families and had selections beyond the typical burgers and grilled chicken items at many brewpubs. Well worth the stop.“

“Stopped in after a quick visit to New Holland. This is a nice place. Much less commercial than NH. About 20 beers on tap and samples of all. Nice server. Nice local watering hole type of place. Beers were interesting and a few very good. Well worth a visit. More interesting than NH, for sure.“

“New Holland has a great tour, which I did at their production facility then I headed over to the brewpub. They had all their old favorite beers, a few new twists on old beers and some that I had never been before. They also had a full bar. I couldn’t believe how good the food was. My wife and I ate there just out of convenience, but I am glad we did. Dragon’s Milk out of the cask is one of the best beers I have ever had. Great place.“

“Nice sized place separated into two different dining areas and a bar area. The bar area is medium sized and decor is very nice, great copper bar and taps lining the walls, nice long bar. They were busy when we visited so I didn’t get to speak with the bartender too much but she seemed at least semi knowledgeable. Tap list is extensive sticking with mostly Michigan beer, including some standards, but with a few selections from harder to find breweries like Kuhnhenn, Vivant, and Rockford. Nice relaxed atmosphere with good music playing. I will need to come back.“

“Stop #7. Amazing place. Good amount of beers on tap, but not much that I hadn’t had before. Nice selection of cocktails with their own liquors. Food is absolutely amazing. Pepperoni pinwheels and goat’s milk cheese cake are to die for. Stay for a few drinks and a meal.“

“This is my third time visiting this Brewpub (that alone says something). They have a great layout with two room and a second level overlooking the bar. They also have outside seating in both the front and back. They even had live music when I was here on a weekend. They offer an impressive selection of their own beers, and four varieties on cask! I also appreciate the veggie options on the menu. If you are in the area this is a must stop by!“

“First visit in a while in 2021, and I still love the pub location staff etc. what they are serving has changed to reflect drinking popularity. Can get seltzer’s ciders now with fewer beers than in the past. Beers were solid not great after tasting 8 I went with the poet. The food was very good sitting outside was great. The changing tap lists at places I get but it is a matter of degree to me.“

“Had dinner here, a casual pub feel to the place. They had some interesting tap choices with new michigan brewers, and an Indiana brewery I haven’t heard of. Food was solid. Nice destination down the street from New Holland. Highlight was the Berliner Weiss from the Indiana brewery great beer.“

“Brewpub right next door to New Holland. Visited on a Friday night and had a good time. They had 6 beers on draft and ran out of the Dipa right before we ordered our sampler. They also had 6-8 ciders and a wine. Of the six samples, they had a good quad, a good sour mash brune, a nice toasted coconut porter that did not have detectable coconut flavor, and a good dry cider. They had live music, a lively crowd, and we happily stayed until closing, good time with some good adult beverages.“

“Visited 06.22.2013 on Beer Trip 2013 stop #6. The Final Stop. Great ambiance. The place feel really put together well, although the more we sit there we realize it is aiming for a brand. It is trying to look the part of a brewery. The beer is good and we struggle to find something great or something bad. All the beers hit in the upper middle, no show stoppers, but also no show ruiners. Overall a good experience. On to the lake house to chill out and then back to reality.“

“Three doors down from New Holland, yet another SW Michigan location to get your suds on. Enough seating and a few TVs where I was able to see the Badgers finish off the Wolverines. Samples are available for 1.50 each and the beer was decent, probably eight on tap. The service was nice as well. Several TVs along the wall and games on each table.“
