“Good selections but the service was lacking. I felt like the guy working was annoyed by having to help me.“

“Swung by this place on a recommendation while visiting MSU. Standard Michigan upscale party story. Didn’t get a chance to look through their beer stock in much detail because I found FIVE (!!!) different limited Jolly Pumkin’s that I’d never had and that was more beer than I could drink in a couple of nights. Seemed to be ample other good stuff as well, though, including Prairie and, to my surprise, Cascade sours along with the expected Michigan locals. Interesting cider selection as well though the JPs forced my hand elsewhere.“

“Room for improvement on the service front. I was in there the other day and overheard a customer say to the owner (Curt/Kurt) "at least you will answer the phone, right?" He responded yes. I called the very next day, during open hours, no answer, left a message and still waiting for a call back. Lame! I also wish that the store would use social media more effectively. They will tweet out when they get some stuff. They will let people know when stuff is gone - sometimes. Consistency, especially when new stuff comes in would be great! Now for the good stuff... I shop for quality beer mainly in Lansing and Grand Rapids. Grand Rapids may have more beer stores and seem to get more of the good stuff... but I have never seen better prices than those at Vine and Brew - this mostly makes putting up with the inconsistent alerts and sketchy service worthwhile. Either way, cheers to them for bringing good beer to the Lansing area!“

“One of the only good beer spots in town. Pretty solid selection, but not without its faults. Service is hit or miss in my experience, but my biggest problem is how often they have severely out of date beer on the shelves. More than once I’ve gotten home and locked myself for not realizing the drink by date was 6 months ago. They do often get some rare brews but you have to be extremely lucky to ever get some as it’s first come first served (supposedly).“

“Located fairly close to the MSU campus, larger than it looks from the outside. Selection is decent, nothing overly wild or rare. I agree prices for singles are high but there is really nothing else in town. I’d go back I guess, if I ever came to Lansing again but prob not.“

“Has a decent beer selection, but nothing I can’t get closer to home. I come here about once a year for the liquor selection.“

“Great selection of beer, possibly an even better selection of wine. I was previously slightly off-put by the service, but I’ve recently found it to be exceptional. My favorite place to go for beer.“

“There was ice in my beer, and they didn’t bring me a plate for my garlic bread. Not impressed.“

“Very comfortable and roomy shop. I think this new shop is starting off right with selections from all of the major Michigan brewers plus a nice assortment of others. They don’t have all of their space filled . . . maybe they will add more later??? They offer beer tasting: 3 North Peak beers on the day I visited. Prices were very fair. No premium for buying a single: this encouraged me to build my own six-pack of beers not available at my regular store on the other side of town. They are also a little cheaper than my regular store, too. I definitely will stop in when I am in the area.“

“oddly, nothing appears to be priced here. once you’re rung up, prices always seem to be ok though. most of what they carry are quality beers. join the club, it’s free and you save 10%.“

“Great new shop in the area. Excellent prices and a really nice selection . Top notch service and very knowledgeable of the beer and wine they sell. Upscale atmosphere with a small selection of mostly local foods. “

“As a restaurant they have really good food but at a high price. It is a great place to eat for a special occasion. The store side is really nice. I used to not like their prices, but if you get the Dustys card that is free you get 10% off which helps put their prices back to a normal ranges and sometimes cheaper than anywhere else.“

“I still get sucked into going here once in a while because they randomly get Mikkeller beers in. But other than that they love to be way overpriced on beers. My best example is a Jolly Pumpkin one that I got at Old Chicago so a restaurant and it was $13 but at the liquor store it was $17 so please tell me how that makes since.“

“Dusty’s is a neat little store with a small but eclectic selection of foodstuffs, wine, and beer. The beer selection is rather small, but Dusty’s does carry popular seasonal and limited offerings by most local brewers, and also carries a decent selection of national micros, German, and Belgian beers. Prices are reasonable, especially for Beer & Wine Club members. Service, when requested, has always been very good. My overall rating is largely limited by the relatively small selection, and I recommend a visit for anyone passing through the area.“

“Typical chain ambiance and food quality, although some of the pizzas are pretty tasty for the area. The beer selection is initially compelling for a chain restaurant, but the experience is significantly flawed by the ice-cold beers served in frosted mugs (seriously?) and the ever-present solvent taste common to everything on tap here, which ruins the tasting experience and makes every beer taste like the last one. Go for the pizza, and do not sample anything new and expect an integrous tasting experience.“

“Old Chicago has great people that work there. They will remember you after only two visits. The taps are constantly switching out for different ones, with very few staying the same for more than a few weeks. There are also two decently sized coolers filled with bottles. The mini-tours they do are a great way for people just getting into different beer to be forced to try something new.“

Dusty’s Cellar (Beer Store)
1839 GRAND RIVER AVE.
“I’ve been coming to Dusty’s since the late-80s, where they were the first local store that sold beer by the bottle. Not a lot has changed since then, including the key personnel! Dusty’s is first and foremost a wine store, so the beer knowledge tends to be concentrated in only a few individuals. The beer selection skews heavily to German and English beers, as well as an excellent selection of Michigan micros. Other American craft beer is hit or miss, but they often have rare and seasonals. Prices are decent, and joining the (free) beer club offsets some of the premium. Food, be it from the bakery, the upscale restaurant next door, or even the brew pub two doors down is excellent.“

“Dusty’s is a wonderful place to buy beer, wine, cigars, and specialty food. It’s got a great selection, good prices, and a very knowledgeable staff who are always eager to help. Dusty’s is the only place around here that you can find Rauchbier! While you’re there, don’t miss the Wine Bar next door and the Pub a few doors down. A beer-drinker’s heaven! “

“Nice, new building in a commercial district. Many beers on tap, but nothing rare, and only one offering from Founders, which is only 1 hour away. Pizza was great, chicago style is lacking the sliced tomatoes, though. Worth a visit.“

“Easy to find location directly off Grand River and Okemos Road. Large lot. Building is clean and orderly and is another corporate remodel. Bar on left and seating for food on right. Bar has taps in the middle with coolers on both sides with bottles. Staff is freindly with good beer knowledge. Menu is corporate apps and dinner selections. I had the Fish & Chips, large portions, very good. Good location, beer selection and food. Well worth the stop.“

“My new "home" OC, having fallen in love with the chain while living in Colorado, I was overjoyed to see one finally open in Michigan. If you’ve been to an OC before, you know what to expect--the food is identical and the selection of beers is the same as any other OC: outstanding! The one thing I noticed about this OC is that instead of being "purpose-built," it appears to have been some other restaurant in the recent past. The result: it feels MUCH larger than any other OC I’ve been in. Now hoping they’ll consider an Ann Arbor location next, as Okemos is about an hour away from me.“
