“I stopped in for a DIPA on the way to Disco Disc Golf course. They had at least 12 of their Beers on tap. The DIPA was decent. A nice well kept up place. Some people eating, I did not have time. The airport was right out the window, you can see the planes takeoff and land. Outside seating on 2 sides of the building.“

“Visited on a Thursday afternoon in February 2019. A rather small place with a small patio. The beers were nothing special but the service was good. This place was quite empty during the visit.“

“Doesn't look much from the outside as said here already many times. But what's inside is what matters. The selection is pretty nice. Lot of local ones. Singles available as well. Reasonable prices.“

“Really cool new place located in a big, pristine industrial park, only about 15 minutes from Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airport, so it’s a pretty convenient first stop from there. They specialize in Scottish style beers for the most part. Only 6 beers on tap when I visited, but they are pretty successful at each of them, and nail the rather subtle / mellow styles competently and interestingly. I was most impressed with their robust porter. Service was super friendly and helpful, and the prices were very reasonable. A recommended stop.“

“The epitome of a mall brewpub, but fortunately once you are inside it is forgiven. The good news is that parking is not a problem. Large bar plus some tables as well. Not particularly busy on a Tuesday afternoon. During my visit they had perhaps six of their own beers on as well as a decent selection of guest taps, including locals as well as some other interesting stuff. All beers, including the guest taps, available as sample pours, which were served in actual graduated cylinders; kind of a neat touch. Service was solid and friendly. They do have a kitchen of some sort but I did not try the food. I thought the beer was decent; nothing special but certainly not flawed or messy.“

“Hole in the wall liquor store that again, looks like it could fall into the center of the earth at any minute. The desert must be hard on liquor stores, it seems to be a trend that they look this way! Massive selection with a lot of very old, dusty bottles. Didn’t buy anything this trip, but I’d imagine I’ll pop in here again and find something.“

“Modern, clean decor with plenty of seating along the bar. 12 beers on tap when I went, all available to order in small pours. Service is very friendly though not very knowledgeable. Beer quality is pretty sub-standard, with a bunch of infections and weird off-notes. Can’t recommend this place for the quality, but if you’re desperate for the ticks and are nearby, this isn’t too bad a place.“

“Unusual looking place from the outside. Long, convenient hours, which is appreciated, opening most days at 9am. Large bottle selection scattered all over, though some of the hoppy beers are old, so check the bottling dates. Some AZ stuff, including 6-packs that are available to bought in singles. Prices are reasonable; service is lazy and hands off, but friendly enough. Worth the visit if in town.“

“Awesome place located in a massive strip mall. Modern, clean interior, with plenty of bar space. 15 beers on tap when I went, including 4 IIPAs (hell yes). Mostly all good to great quality. Service is super friendly, quick and helpful. All beers available in small sample pours for $2-3. One of the best stops in Greater Phoenix. Highly recommended.“

“Huge selection, and they only place I saw with two shelves of Nevada beer. Some bottles are dusty, so you just have to be choosy. Front desk clerk was brand new and didn’t know beers or what they had. Ample parking. Good prices. Enough for a visit. Or maybe two.“

“Storefront place in a quaint touristy area. Inside is pretty basic. Flights of 5 four ounce pours are $8 if they choose the beers and $10 if you choose, which is a bit odd, but I guess works. Beers were less than stellar.“

“Interesting place. Small, narrow, squeezed into a massive shopping mall next to a "FITNESS Gym" (is there a non-fitness type of gym??). Unlimited parking. L shaped bar and some tables, pretty simple. Small system. Flights of 4, or really as many as you want, served in graduated cylinders to keep the scientific theme up, but in a brass-knuckles carrier, pretty non-scientific. Beers were tasty, service was decent.“

“Visited March 13, 2015.

This street is a busy street that has a light rail in the middle. At the time they were doing a bunch of road work so I’d imagine that parking is a pain at certain times of the day. I got lucky and found a spot right out front. The best way to describe this place is an after work kind of bar. Lots of suits, most people in groups that new each other. Of course this was in fact, after work, so that’s no surprise, but the place is pretty open and well lit so it’s not a dive bar or even a college bar. I found one seat all the way at the end of the counter and it took a good ten minutes to get a drink but the lady was friendly and patient. The beer list is on the all at the end of the bar, right above where I was sitting, so I had to stand back a few feet and figure out what I wanted.

They have a fair amount of house beers and they’ll do flights but she wasn’t too keen on trying a bunch of tasters. Basically if you want to try them all you’ll be ordering several flights. They had several IPAs, some fruited beers, some run of the mill styles (amber, brown, etc), and some German styles. On the surface it looks good. While the beers aren’t bad they’re kind of sweet and boring. I only tried half a dozen but I don’t think that I would have stayed for more even if I had the time. It’s the closest brewery to where I was staying so it was a natural choice but yeah, not overly impressed with the beers. “

“Another newer brewery (2014 opening) So many places in this part of Arizona are in shopping plazas, so it is hard to take away points for that, but it does make the ambiance a little less special on the patio. A pretty good sized bar and some seating inside. On the smaller size overall. They had 7 or 8 of their own beers on tap and some guest beers. All of theirs were in good condition and all above average. The service was excellent and both knew about the beer and made recommendations. A small food menu, but with some interesting items available. The wings were pretty good. The prices were good for the area and for the quality of the beer. It will be interesting to see how this brewery grows over the next few years.“

“Nice to see so many beers available in a variety of styles. Beers were alright, not bad but not great. We sat in the sunny patio out front(awesome), where apparently smoking is allowed(not awesome). Did not eat, but there was a small menu of food that appeared to be good quality. Beers are $1-2 too expensive, especially considering they aren’t exactly terrific. They are the only show in town however, and just about the only reason to go to ’downtown’ Mesa.“

“This restaurant zone can get pretty rammed making parking a tad tricky and long waits likely during peak hours and when the retired snowbirds are in town. This is a typical Bj’s restaurant layout and in fact my 9 yr old son was convinced we had been here before (but it was the Palmdale location he was thinking about). Wow, this seems identical to the Palmdale location. This place had the typical solid service and food and I love how they didn’t serve me their session IPA is frozen glassware as they seem to always do.“

“A very nice looking place with inside/outside bars. Pool tables, stage for live music, and 2 beach volleyball courts. Food is better than average but service was below average. Staff makes up for poor service with good attitudes though. Liquor and beer selections are just above average as well. Misters outside keep you cool in the hot sun. Plenty of space too.“

“This place looks like a dump and I was almost going to miss it. Walk in and you still get the feeling it’s not quite a treasure people say. Walk around and you will get whiplash with all the great beers at all the decent prices. I am hooked. Help? Not really, they don’t seem to know much about beer, but who cares. Beer there I saw was cheaper than the brewery, awesome. Pub isn’t in yet, quaint and surrounded by bottles. Again awesome.“

“Stopped in here on the way home since it was on the way. Upon entering the sore it is striking just how much beer they have. Some people walking around browsing the aisles of beer and liquor. Service was solid. I was approached twice asking if I needed help finding anything but I was just browsing. Quality was ok. Nearly all of the bottles were covered in dust and some were out of date, while the rest were fine. Selection can best be described as immense and diverse. Beers of all different styles from all over the world. Nothing overly rare or anything but plenty of solid options. Prices were fairly similar to all of the other bottle shops I have visited in the area. Overall a huge selection is this places selling point, which is both a gift and a curse.“

“We visited this brewpub on 28.12.2013. The pub does not have character, no style, a wooden long bar, some tables, brown painted walls and some arbitrary pictures. They have 14 beers on tap, which are brewed on site, behind the bar. We sampled 5 of them (3 IPA’s, 1 dark weissbier and 1 porter). The beers were just ok. Overall not a must visit when you are in Phoenix.“

“Located on the main drag in downtown Mesa, it’s a nicely appointed taproom full of locally produced art on the wall. They 9-10 of their own on tap and they ranged from dull to good. The service was friendly and outgoing but there wasn’t much particularly memorable about the visit.“

“Doesn’t look like much from the outside but it has way more beer than your typical liquor store. The place is dimly lit which is a plus since we all know the damage light can do to beer. They allow you to make sixers and grab singles from six packs without charging extra for the privilege which is a nice touch. True the Eastern European and the Belgian bottles could get dusty but they have really good selections of both as well as their local and regional stuff which sells so well age isn’t remotely a problem. Unlike Tops the staff members were really friendly and accommodating. It was certainly worth the trip out to Mesa.“

“Visited Sun Devil Liquors a couple times while on a trip to the Mesa area last fall. Originally, I was recommended this place because they carried Odell and I was looking to get my Myrcenary fix. Great store. Doesn’t look like much from the outside but huge craft beer selection. Tons of bombers. They had so much that it was kinda hard to walk the ailes because they had cases of stuff not on the shelves and extra stock all over the place. They have a ton of west coast, local stuff, and some nice midwest stuff. Luckily I was visiting during The Abyss release. They had a shelf full of The Abyss and no bottle limit from what I recall. I also noticed this place had a large selection Bell’s. Anyways.. I ended up shipping home a pretty nice sized box of goodies. The staff was friendly. Prices were reasonable. I noticed they had a pub area to the place but didn’t get a chance to check it out since I was spending so much time looking at selection. I would recommend this place to anyone who visits the Phoenix\Mesa area and is looking for some heady brews .“

“Pretty standard prices. Dusty, dim, and not kept well. Cellar bar was not open yet on my stop but I’ll give em credit for this great feature. “This is a nice downtown Mesa location with outside sort of patio seating. I love the bar layout as it is central and dominates the space with a long gentle sweeping arc from one end to the other. The help is friendly and knowledgeable and saw me taking notes and asked if I would like some water to help clean my palate. They have 12 taps where, at least at this visit, only 4 of those 12 are the core brews and the rest are seasonals, specials, one-offs, etc. How cool is that! I look forward to dropping by here every once in a while.“

“If I’ve been to a bottle shop with a better selection I don’t remember it. Quite frankly blows away Blue Max in Birnsville, MN. I’m sure some of my giddiness is because there are quite a few things here I can’t get in my home market, but even for brewers that I can they have harder to find offerings. Not sure I agree with other reviewers on the "disorganized" and "dusty bottles" comments. Yes there was a section of Eastern European beers that had a number of dusty bottles. So what. As long as that doesn’t mean old then it’s not a big deal. Small bar downstairs is cool with several round tables and wine bottles (very organized) everywhere. Some cool on tap offerings although it was unclear whether you could order something as the bar wasn’t specifically tended. Staff is very knowledgeable and helped me locate some of the more special stuff. Prices seemed very reasonable compared to in MN. Off the charts bombers were sometimes only in the $5-6 range. If you’re anywhere close to this place it’s a must visit. Blows away Papago for beer selection; only thing Papago has over this place is that they brew their own beer.“

“New brewery to Mesa. Very relaxed atmosphere. The owner and brewer will come out and shoot the shit with you. The brewer is from Bavaria and he really nails some of the German styles incredibly well. They could use a dark board or two and lose one unprofessional guy who works behind the counter but lacks any sense of tact. But stop in and hope that Scot or one of the other NICE employees helps you. I will be back. Try the Dunkle!“

“I don’t believe I’ve ever had a bad memory from this place. Their selection is massive and their staff are knowledgeable and help in any way that they can. I especially like their cellar-bar located downstairs. My only complaint, if one could call it that, would be the location: but their gigantic orange-and-yellow-striped sign seated by the street makes up for the awkward positioning of the building.“

Place is really dingy and many items were warm from the 80 some degrees they keep inside. Prices are average to good. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. “Not the best atmosphere, as it’s a little cramped and a bit hard to find your way around. The selection is very impressive, especially with imports. Tons of Belgians, Germans, and a ton of Eastern Europe stuff. Of course, a ton of the bottles were covered in dust, so it was hard to tell how long things were sitting around. The main disappointment was that just about nothing was refrigerated including their IPAs. Definitely worth a stop.“

“Wow. What a disorganized dumpy place- but in a good way. They definitely get some excellent beers, but you really have to look over two and three times because there is not much organization. HOWEVER, I was really interested in buying a few IPAs, but the clerk had no clue how old they were. I had to deduct some points for that, because I really wanted to take some west coast IPAs back to the hotel and did not want to buy old stuff ( and I bet some of it was old). I still walked out of there with some nice stuff. Expect to find west coat stuff like Alesmith, Firestone Walker, Lost Abbey, Marin. Some nice Belgians in there as well, in addition to the regional stuff from CO and AZ.“

“Cool placed. The fist thing I noticed walking in was all the Russian / Romanian beer in a small alcove to the right. I was able to scare up a new Baltic Porter rating (Amber Grand Imperial Porter frikin ROCKED!). Overall a dusty mostly organized selection. There are a load of dusty delicate German beers in here to stay for away from unless it is a huge Eisbock or the like. Nice selection of local and Western US offerings where it appears you can make singles from pretty much any 6 or 4 pack. I love seeing Speedway. I’ll be back for sure.“

“Best beer selection in AZ ...even better than Papago. Every now & then, they sneak in some really hard-to-find items. I think it was about 5 years ago, I actually found Westy 12, 8, & 6 there. Oddly enough, the AJ’s on Central had some too at the same time. But once it was gone, I never saw it again. Of course, the fact that they had it at all tells you something about how serious they are there about beer. The place looks like six pounds of sh!t in a five pound bag. But it is friggin awesome!“

“Best selection I have seen in my short visit to Phoenix. Went there for FW 14 which I was informed someone came in 2 days earlier and bought the last 9 bottles, but that was ok as this beer is in high demand. They had plenty of other beers that I did not see any of the 3 Bevmo’s I went to. Was able to pick up some Rock Art Vermonster and Squatters Outer Darkness. Not the most visual pleasing place I ahve been to, but they made up it with selection and service.“
