“Literally made a wrong turn on Route 73 and found myself in Canal’s parking lot. Large selection of micro, import and seasonal beers. Well stocked and beers are arranged in a orderly fashion. If your beer hunting in the ’Wilds of South Jersey’ check out Canal’s of Berlin.“

“Had visited this place years ago when it was still located in the nearby Berlin Farmer’s Market, but they’ve recently moved, and to my eyes into a much larger space. They really do have everything, plenty of used kegs, new carboys, water supplies, kits, books, clothing (!), local honey, etc etc etc. Clean, orderly, and abundant. Yeast was fresh, which alone is enough to earn repeat business from me, and the service has long been good, a community feel and some characters to talk your ear off, some good knowledge here. The biggest turnoff is that prices tend to run a bit high compared to the huge mail-order shippers online, but not offensively so.

It’s right near a great Canal’s (I hope to visit them as a pair from now on) and there are a few bars in the area with a craft beer or two on tap, though I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit any of them. [July 2014]

I’m more appreciative as I visit more often, the service has always been great. Update on the prices: cost of yeast a bit high but it’s always fresh and in good health, so better than I can get through the mail, and the hops and malt are actually pretty cheap. Finding more and more little specialty orders of rare or exotic malts and adjuncts, really gets the creative juices flowing! [May 2015]“

“Pretty big store with beer accounting for maybe a third of space. Sixer and singles, good selection for a local and very friendly service (some of which actually knows a thing or two). They had growlers of Rogue but no growler station/taps. Agree with one of the reviews below: good variety of sixtels, and they also mark which are available below the respective singles, sort of a try-before-you-buy-big. I’ll be back!

I’ve been back about four times and it seems like it’s gotten better with each. Just a lot available here, good rotation, and things available in singles that are only available as sixers elsewhere. Twice now I’ve seen nice little reductions on seasonal six packs of Sly Fox cans (to $6.99). Start filling growlers and this place might jump to 90+.“

“I frequent this Canal’s often and there usually a good selection with a decently knowledgable staff. I’ve had some problems with buying old beer there, though I don’t know if that’s necessarily their fault. Prices are competitive with other and the craft selection is easy to find. “

“One of the best places for beer in the area. Close to Hops & Grapes in Glassboro in selection. Staff is very helpful although usually very young. They still seem to know the good stuff though. They have a small selection of singles but that is growing. All the local breweries are represented as well as some far away. They have a nice selection of Founders and many other hard to find for this area. Prices are comparable and they always have a Dogfish, Victory or Flying Fish on sale. They also stock a nice variety of sixtels.“
