76 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Big place right on the lake, looks vaguely like a church, but don't look too closely. Three levels - first level has a large central bar surrounded by restaurant tables. Second level has smaller central bar and more restaurant tables, plus a deck with a view of the lake but sadly no shade. Third level has a deck as well. First and third levels were closed when I visited, so I guess level two is the default level. Brewing equipment visible on the first two levels. A dozen beers on offer with flights of four, six, eight or ten. I chose four, and the Ubu was the best of the bunch - I guess that's why it's their flagship, duh. Food was tasty pub grub. Very friendly, quick and efficient service. Worth a look. |
78 /100 5686 CASCADE ROAD We sat outside here, big place, happy staff. Good service, the wild side of Lake Placid brewing, for instance barrel aged ubu. Great beer, very good food, great ambiance, worth a stop. |
56 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR The makers of Ubu, a distinctive product of the Adirondacks. That alone made it worth a stop for me. Was a bit bar-like, not a huge selection, but right next to our hotel. Worth a visit if in the area already. |
76 /100 2442 MAIN STREET This place usually has seating we found, maybe price?, some fine beers, in classic styles such as 'dubbel' that I enjoyed. Worth a stop. Good food too.We ate inside, service was okay. |
54 /100 Cloudspin Bar & Grill (Whiteface) (Restaurant) 2634 MAIN ST Great places, poor services. A good selection of various type of beer, even some local ones. Go for the ski, the beer is extra to this great place. |
76 /100 5686 CASCADE ROAD Everyone in my party was satisfied with the food and beer at this place. I'm glad that the Lake Placid brewpub had a long wait for tables! The steak salad was excellent, and my friends were happy with their pizzas and other dishes. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the place seemed to be doing well. The interior is modern, with metal furniture and cement floors, and dimly lit - not my favorite kind of style, but everything worked out well. The samplers are offered at a good price, and are served somewhat eccentrically - a board with holes in it gets placed over the glasses, but there is nothing underneath. A couple of their beers were very good indeed. |
74 /100 2442 MAIN STREET I didn’t mind this place for me, but then again, I’m not a city slicker so the "rustic" somewhat "Northern" country boy/redneck thing is somewhat going on. My steak was good and cooked the way I wanted it. Beers are decent. Service seemed reasonable with it being packed as well. I’d go back if I was in the area. |
70 /100 5686 CASCADE ROAD All the beers were fairly good, so no complaints about that. Flights are 5 x 4 on. for 10$. The food menu looked pretty good, but the offerings are overpriced...excellent pulled ham sandwich but 17$for a plate is a bit ludicrous. And drop that organic ketchup please.. Way too sickly sweet... Stick to heinz. |
70 /100 Sunoco Lake Placid (Beer Store) 2792 WILMINGTON RD They had some good beer in the cooler. Stone and other favs. I got a pic 6 for $9.99. I had not tried the Adirondack beers yet. I see they have the growler fill station there.
Nov. 2016. The Pic 6 is $1.99 per bottle. Some local stuff to be found there. |
76 /100 5686 CASCADE ROAD Nice size place was very full at 1:30 pm on a Friday. We enjoyed our flights of beer and lunches. 10 of their beers on tap and a bottle selection. We had a good time after 4 hours of hiking. |
80 /100 Smoke Signals (Restaurant) 2489 MAIN ST We arrived about 6pm on a Friday and Patty liked the ambiance, location and prices of this place the best of what we saw on Main street. The hostess wanted to seat us in the center of the room. Patty got the server to let us move to a window seat. The server was very knowledgable about their beers and food and freiendly too. Largest hamburger I ever had ’The Flatliner!’. Everyone enjoyed their beers and food. |
54 /100 Stouts & Stogies (Beer Store) 2527 MAIN STREET, SUITE 8 We stopped in on a Thursday just as he was getting ready to close at 6pm. (open later on Weekends) Found one beer I have not had before. Even though it’s a small selection of beers, it’s good to have ’A’ selection in town. |
78 /100 5686 CASCADE ROAD New brewer in the Lake Placid area, I think they opened in the summer of 2016. Ambiance was typical brew pub, very clean. The food was very good. I thought the brews were average to good, so maybe they have worked out the bugs pointed out by the previous reviewer. I do prefer this brewer to what I’ve had at the Lake Placid Brewing Co, which in the two visits I’ve had spanning 8 years I’ve not had a beer that I’ve thought even average. |
50 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR 3 story brewpub. Big beer selection. Indoor and outdoor seating. Plenty of room. Not dog or kid friendly. Growlers and flights available. Some of the beer was very good, some of it was not so good (stay away from the European styles). Didn’t try the food. Meh. |
68 /100 5686 CASCADE ROAD Nice little place in Lake Placid, a few minutes outside the village. DOG FRIENDLY! :) While most of the beer is borderline horrific, the Berliner was good and the food was outstanding. Worth the stop if you are in the mood for pizza, poutine and Berliner Weisse. |
56 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Tight parking. Sat at the downstairs bar. No food. Prices were high on beer to go but not so bad on the flight. Beer quality average overall. Bartender was pretty much absent. Fell below expectations. |
56 /100 Sunoco Lake Placid (Beer Store) 2792 WILMINGTON RD I needed a fill-up so I figured I would stop at the gas station in the RB database. Typical gas station. Growler fill station had some local and common craft offerings. Same with the bottles. Did not experience or need any customer service. Decent prices on the bottles, did not see the pricing on the growler fills. |
52 /100 Stouts & Stogies (Beer Store) 2527 MAIN STREET, SUITE 8 Little bottle shop in an indoor mini-mall in the main drag. Connected to a liquor store across the hall, I had to wait for someone to come open the store. Very small beer selection, maybe 40 options. Some decent, but nothing uncommon. Decent prices, friendly storekeeper. Might be worth a look as it’s easily walkable from Great Adirondack brewery, but not worth going out of your way for. |
78 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Big place, but a small comfortable vibe. Sat in the bar area covered with police and fire badges. Small bar, lots of wood. 7 beers served in a pretty impressive flight tray. Beer quality overall high, my favorite of the regional breweries. Had a lobster roll which was tasty. Bartender did very well. A little pricy, but worth it. |
74 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Stopped in on absolutely frigid evening before some mountain climbing adventures. Old school mountain town steakhouse which appreciate the throwback kitch. Got a fine enough steak not really that flavorful and sides were weak. 7 of their own beers which were solid enough. |
86 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Went in for a few beer while on vacation. Nice atmosphere, very welcoming. Bartender was great, very knowledgeable and inviting. Beers was pretty good, some standouts. And the food was great too (we had a nice hummus appetizer). |
58 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Three-level pub with several options, but boils down to an average US brewpub … with an awesome view. Decent grub and drinkable beers. (Brewery #677) |
46 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Given the prime real estate, I guess I expected too much. This place is straight outta 1980 -- I’m 6’0" and felt like I need to duck the entire way thru the restaurant, past the gross lobster tank and to the weirdly cramped, throw-back bar. The bartender was nice enough, and I guess the beer was OK. But the New York cheese plate was oddly pedestrian, and overall I don’t think this lived up to expectations. Oh, and like everything in Lake Placid, it’s expensive. (Brewery #676) |
88 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR This is a great brewpub. Good beers and a solid selection, nothing crazy, mostly normal styles, but all the beers are well made. There is a cool bar on the first floor, a nice bar and eatery on the second, and some tables to eat on the third with a children’s playroom. This is Great if you have kids. Some awesome decks overlooking mirror lake as well. And the food was very good. Mostly pub food, but very tasty. Love this place. Always try to stop in while in lake placid. |
74 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Visited in the fall. The decor is great, the service was good, very good choice on the menu food wise.Good choice of beers also.A bit expencive but it was worth it.I would like to go back but in the summer. |
78 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Nice looking place with a good choice of beers.Did not eat at the place this time but I wiil go back again. The service was great freindly and they know the beers. They have a nice terrasse overlooking a lake. |
82 /100 2442 MAIN STREET It’s strange...most of the reviews are very good...not great...but very good...which to me should be scores in the mid 70’s to low 80’s...but yet they are mostly in the 60’s. My experience was very positive and I’ve scored it as such. Some of the beers were very good...others were average (I tasted them all)...none were poor in any way. I especially like the Farmhouse Pale Ale and the Little John Session IPA. The atmosphere here is amazing...especially in winter...very comfortable...roaring fireplace...and comfy lodge or cabin like decor...lots of wood...low ceilings...and nice low lighting. Although I only had the appitizers...I spoke to some patrons who said the steak and seafood were very good. I highly recommend a visit here...along with the nearby LPPB. They are very different places...but a nice combination to a Lake Placid visit. |
80 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Just returned from a long weekend in Lake Placid...stayed at the Hampton Inn next door (btw...best Hampton Inn I’ve ever seen). The really cool thing is the two places are adjacent...drink at the LPPB and walk a very short walk home. This place really has great atmosphere...across from Mirror Lake...especially the downstairs pub. The food is decent...the beer is very good...I wouldn’t say great...but very good. The IPA was nice along with Rauch the Cas-Bock...but the real star is the Ubu..a great English strong ale. The vibe is pretty cool downstairs...especially when it’s snowing hard outside which it was the night I visited. The staff was great too. Although I was never a huge fan of their bottled beer...a visit here is definitely a must when in the area. |
70 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Wife and I each ordered burgers. And I got a sampler of beers. Mine was good. Hers was supposed to be medium well and came out half rare. Waiter was very attentive and handled it professionally. UBU ale is very good and worthy of honors received. IPA is also solid. Ambiance is great. Three levels of pub and even a kids room for family diners. |
68 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Had lunch here the 2nd day of our trip. The Adirondacker steak sandwich was great and very large. (some people might split it for lunch) The place was well kept up and clean. The 7 beer sampler was $14. One pint was $6. It was a rainy day so we ate inside. I’ll come back sometime. |
74 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR 1st place we had a meal when stopping in Lake Placid. Off the main st. 3 floors in the building to choose from. The Irish bar, the sports bar or the fancy resturant the is kid friendly. We ate in the sports bar. A decent steak sandwich and a turkey club. The sampler tray of 6 beers was $8. I’ll stop back in next time in town. |
72 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR The brewery has been in operation since the mid 90’s and is now a very mature pub......in slow times it is a great place, but in heavy traffic weekends (we were there Ironman weekend) it is hectic, noisy and often has long waits......now it’s completely understandable for the waits however we waited almost 20 minutes to have our plates cleared and to receive the check....if you’re trying to turn over tables and folks are helping you why not help them move on? Not putting this on the waitress as she was given tables on both sides where she couldn’t see us......just a bit more organization and a few more beers in the lineup and it would be awesome even on a busy weekend. |
70 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR 2013-04-30. Had lunch at Lake Placid Brewery where neither the food nor the beer particularly impressed, but were okay. The food was decent, we had a pizza and a chicken sandwich. A bit of an upscale spin on pub grub but wasn’t anything special. Nice-ish view from the patio of the lake. Lots of sports memorabilia and banners on the wall. Super quiet when we were there. The Ubu Ale is my favorite of their beers. Definitely worth a stop while you are in town but not necessarily a destination unto itself. |
90 /100 Sunoco Lake Placid (Beer Store) 2792 WILMINGTON RD If your not from the States and can rock up to a gas station and fill your own growlers / riggers / flagons with craft beer, this place is almost like heaven. Its part of the Sunoco Craft Beer Exchange setup. Good selection of bottle craft beers too. |
74 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR We had their Ubu ale and IPA on tap at the downstairs bar. Compared to their bottled stuff the Tap beers where so much better (fresher with more flavour and aromas). |
70 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Visited for the first time September 19, 2012. Your quintessential touristy restaurant on Main Street, with all the Adirondack’ish decor. It looks small, but there is alot a space plus a patio, the brewery is in the back for visiting. I had two beers, Belgian Summer Ale and Whiteface Black Diamond Stout, all nice, but my beef is the lack of info on the beer menu, more specifically only one or two beers with quantity availability and no prices. Speaking of prices, the food is not cheap, but my steak was very tasty and cook to my liking. Our waiter was very nice and helpful, I don’t know about is beer knowledge, but I never do anyway. The best part was your choice of free shakers with different logos. I may go back, but for beer only! |
76 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Visited for the first time September 19, 2012. Twice, before and after supper. Nice looking place with a view of Mirror Lake, off the Main Street, so there should be less tourist, well at less in the lower bar. I drank my two beers downstairs in what they call P.J. O’Neill’s, the name of the pub before LPPB moved in. A simple, nonchalant pub that made me feel comfortable. The barmaid was quite knowledgeable, to the point of telling us that the ESB was too malty, she was right. Like I said, I had two of their beer, the IPA and UBU Ale, quite nice. A must come back! |
76 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR A little hard to find, but worth a stop. Good sampler offering, and the food looked great but we had just eaten. Nice wood cabin ambiance, which was very fitting for our winter visit. Manager was off putting, insisted that the tap handle we own for one of their products must have been "stolen" because we bought it on Ebay... I guess their Ubu taps are all handcarved by a local guy? Anyway, made us feel like jerks when all we had inquired about was a sticker for the tap handle. Whatever. Still a good place to grab a sampler. |
84 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR The wife cruised thru on a business trip to grab me some brews. Her review:
Nice clean bar, friendly staff helped me grab a mixed 6 pack and get back on the road quickly. The place smelled great I wish I would have had time for lunch. Would definitely make a point to try if in the area again. |
74 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR sept.30th 2011.
Lunch on a Friday.
Quiet at the time. Waiter did not seem to know how to recommend beers...
More selection would be nice.
Other than that, the beers are well made and the food was excellent.
would definitely return.
try the IPA! |
66 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Great place decided to get a few beers before the ironman. I like that they had a sampler; unstaffed just one guy working really hard. |
74 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Stopped here after hiking Mt Marcy. After that long hike I deserved a brew. Place is a college bar but food was decent and had an UBU Ale so indeed a decent time was had. |
34 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Subpar college like place. I aske for their wheat beer , got bottle and bo glass. And this is their brewpub ? They dont even respect their own beer.... Staff had litlle knowledge. Average beer quality. |
64 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Warm roaring fire inside. Nothing too special as far as decor/ambiance goes. Wood floors, tables and bar. However, acceptable dine in your snow/ski gear. ~1pm on a Sunday, crowded but seated right away. Very friendly, quick service. 6 beers on tap (all theirs). Order the sampler ( $6.75). Surprised there was no stout/porter on tap considering the cold/winter season. The Winter Lager (6.5%) was solid. Nothing too inspiring our notable from the other 5 beers on tap. Decent lunch selection menu and fair prices. Overlooking mirror lake just a few steps off the main street near the speed skating ice rink. Absolutely worth visiting if your in the area. |
78 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Went here back in February 2010 and tried all their beers. Had amazing service and a great time. The beers were all way above what you would expect from a typical brew pub. Went back yesterday (12-26-10) and was equally as impressed. Haven’t had the food but go specifically for the beer. Cozy and woody feel inside. The bar is small and tucked in the back. Same bartender as I had in February, Tom. He was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. They take pride in their beers here. Roaring fire outside and inside. 8 beers on tap ($4-$5). Open 365 days a year and always packed for dinner.Didn’t see any other beers available (Bottle/tap) but why would you want one when they have such great beer? I loved their Fry’s Rye "Roggenbier" (5.5%) and their "’Tis the Saison (7.4%). Unique winter/seasonal takes on traditional hefe/rye and saison styles, Stellar! Then enjoyed their Adirondack Abbey Ale (7.2%) and the Whiteface Black Diamond Stout (6.4%). These are both award winning beers (GABF, gold & silver). Awesome beers here. The brew master is even working on barrel aging and contemplating distribution. This is a must stop if your in the area and even worth a drive to check it out if your into good beer! If I had to choose one negative, it would be that all their beers are served in pint glasses (aside from their barley wine). |
68 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Located just a short walk from the main drag in Lake Placid and is situated in an old church, sort of reminds me of a ski lodge. There is an Irish Pub on the main floor but did not check it out. I went upstairs to the main attraction. It has a nice patio that overlooks Mirror Lake.
They have 6 beers on tap, 4 standards & 2 seasonal. Bartender seemed to know the brews quite well. The food is standard pub grub and the service is pleasant and friendly. Atmosphere is laid back and relaxing. Nice place to get away from the tourists or skiers depending on the season. |
68 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Located in the middle of town. This is primarily a restuarant with the bar tucked away in the back corner. The bar area is cozy but not quite the brewpub feel you would expect. There is also a patio with a nice view of Main St. We found seats in the bar area and had a choice of about 7-8 beers on tap. The bartender seems quite knowledgeable about the brews on tap. I started with the Ausable Wulff Red Ale which complimented my meal. I then switched to the John Brown Pale Ale which really hit the spot, and had a couple of these. Depending on the season they are open for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner with a menu tailored to that time of day. Menu has a good variety. Prices a bit above average but considering your in Lake Placid they are quite reasonable. Worth a visit if passing through the area.
|
64 /100 2442 MAIN STREET A classy turn of the century chalet in Lake Placid, right in the middle of the Adirondack park. Very woodsy decor. Friendly service if a bit innatentive. I didnt eat there but noticed the portions were generous. Beers are OK to quite good. Pricy sampler at 7 4 ounces for 12$. |
66 /100 2442 MAIN STREET Large restaurant located in the middle of Lake Placid with a great view on Main Street. We stop by for lunch and patio was full though there was some room inside. Waiter was quiet attentive and ready to answer question on the beers available that day. Selection was pretty good ranging from some session type beer to more Belgian-style (abbey Dubbel, Saison). The food we ordered was good (not great thought) and prices were reasonable considering the numbers of tourist on the area. The beers are of fair quality and I would definitely stop again if I was in town again. |
60 /100 813 MIRROR LAKE DR Great place with outstanding view of Mirror Lake. Went twice on vacation-once during Iron Man. The second a few days later. Seated quickly both times. Good food both times. Decent beer. Poor service both times-particularly the second. Sat with an empty beer for about 10 minutes before the waitress came with our check. |
