“Extremely clean, family run distributor close to Stony Brook U. Very decent selection, especially on the growler station. Regular beer tastings. Very good turnover of stock and they do pay attention to getting older stuff off of the shelves. Worth a stop for their growlers alone.“

“If your looking for six packs of magic hat then you’ve found your place. Otherwise, you might as well take the trip west to St. James or East to Port Jeff. It’s a really big store (compared to others in the area), so its a shame they fill it with really common beer. Its a step up from a grocery store and they do have Blue Point Growlers (unlike St. James) but they’re more expensive than PJ. I don’t really bother going to this place any more.“

“Decent selection that changes... some nice surprises from time to time. A variety of Southern Tier, Stone, Smuttynose, North Coast, Great Divide, Sierra Nevada plus some Belgians and lots of fresh Blue Point growlers. Bill, the owner, is an awesome guy. They don’t carry Victory but he ordered a case of Prima Pils once just for me. And about a month ago, i ordered some Blue Point kegs for my friend’s wedding. Bill actually drove to the brewery himself to pick up the tap handles and one of the kegs that they didn’t deliver to the store. he also gave us a discount on a kegerator rental. Two of the guys from the store delivered and set everything up for us at the wedding place. one guy even came back again to drop off an extra tap handle so we could take the kegs to the hotel and keep drinking. the next day, when we dropped everything off, Bill had actually arrived at the store early. my friend had a headache, so he gave him some Advil from his personal supply and 2 bottles of cold water for free. The other workers are always friendly and helpful. And i love the walk in refrigerator, especially on hot summer days. While the prices are a little high, i never ever walk out without a smile on my face.“

“This Place offers the best selection on the North Shore. They always have fresh stock, if they don’t carry it, chances are it didn’t sell well. Pricing is fair based on their location, totally worth the price not to have to go far or into an undesireable town. I think these guys are progressive in their product selection and always willing to try new beers. Service is phenominal, these guys know their stuff! They are also always willing to special order anything I ask for, if it’s available. Small store always clean and easy to park. They are open till midnight on thursdays and fridays when the college is in session. they have a relly cool empty container pick-up program where they come to my home and at the same time deliver my favorite brews. Stony Brook Beverage is the best place around for beer. I think their selection is awesome; I may have counted 500+ different beers. The GROWLER BAR was a real treat too! I was very impressed with them having ten (10) draft lines to choose from. I left with three different growlers, including Captain Lawrence Captain’s Reserve, Brooklyn Brewmaster Reserve - Blast, and Cricket Hill’s cask ESB. The service was great too! The Manager took me through each beer on draft to help me decide which ones I wanted to try first, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I found really hard to get Dogfish Head cork bottles and so much more. The Store was very clean, and organized very well. I was told they have occasional tastings which sound like fun. This is a real beer store and so much better than most that I frequent on Long Island. Great beer, super attitude, and just a very pleasurable experience. Don’t think I will be visiting many other Beer Stores now that I found this place. PS. They thanked me for shopping there today, What a concept!!!! Great Job Stony Brook Beverage!!!! “

“Just went back recently to pick up a few things for a work function, and I have to say that management has really picked up the slack. It’s still not a huge place but the selection is a whole lot better than it was three years ago. There is now a growler fill station that seems to be doing a pretty decent business and has some very well-chosen stuff selected for it. Decent selection and the cold cooler at the back has a few rare things scattered about within it. Definitely the best I’ve seen in the Stony Brook area recently and it’s worth checking out. Popped in here a few times in the last few weeks. Pretty small selection actually, probably about 150, including the macros. They do have a good selection of stuff from Rogue and North Coast, but otherwise, not a whole lot going on. It seems overpriced as well, compared with the place in Port Jefferson.“

“This used to be my old stomping grounds. Bought beer here for 4 years while attending Stony Brook and stilll stop by once in a while. This was actually the firsts place I descovered a lot of beer, however I have grown and this place has not. Just a regular small beer ditributor. The new owner has hiked up the prices, every single craft of import sold here can be bought somewhere else for less. The selection has gotten worse the only non-contradted SH they carry now is Grandu Cru (11 bucks). They are plenty of beer distributors within a half hour radius that are cheaper and better than this spot.“

“I used to frequent this place all the time while a grad student at Stony Brook University, and I still visit it once a month or so - not the greatest selection in the area, but respectable - the only thing they have going for them is the fact that they have a handful of Southampton brews that are hard to find in most places (Grand Cru, Imperial Stout), and they tend to stay in stock for a while because this store is kind of out of the way and no one really knows about it - mostly frequented by college hippie types that want to stock up on Magic Hat and Seirra Nevada (which they have in LARGE amounts) - the new owner is a super nice guy, though.“

“This is a tiny place near Stony Brook and even though it doesn’t have the largest selection, I would say it deserves inclusion on the basis of having a few Southampton beers I wasn’t able to find either at the bewery or the "better" store. Some regionals and a few Belgians, Stone, Allagash, Rogue, etc.“
