68 /100 World of Beer - Katy (Bar) 2643 COMMERCIAL CENTER BLVD Came here on 3.5 2018. I am not a huge fan of WOB, however liked this one as they had a large range of Texan Craft Beers. They had 45 beers on tap (at least half of them from Texas) and a large range of US, German, UK and Belgium bottles (standard WOB selection). I tasted 3 IPA’s: Deep Ellum - Easy Peasy (great taste), Oasis - Postmortum and Independence - Liquid Lunch. Service was ok, food mediocre (had the salmon, would not order again) and ambiance not too commercial. |

72 /100 World of Beer - Katy (Bar) 2643 COMMERCIAL CENTER BLVD Nice beer selection on tap and they allow custom flights. Expansive selection of bottle/cans. Excellent food. Love the tacos, big pretzels, flatbreads, chimichurri meatballs, etc. Solid place for beer and dining. Service can be very uneven at this Cinco Ranch location, but in general love to grab a taco and beer from here. |
68 /100 Growler USA - Katy (Bar) 1443 FM 1463, SUITE 100 Decent spot. Kind of a sterile atmosphere though. Nice selection though. Didn’t try the food. No complaints about the service. |
80 /100 Growler USA - Katy (Bar) 1443 FM 1463, SUITE 100 Nice, new, clean. I was stunned that they had 5 Brash beers on tap....that’s often more than what the brewery itself will offer. Very limited in crap beer offerings. Quite an unusually strong selection of taps considering it’s in Katy, TX. I like the electronic boards above the bar advertising all their beers...they seem to be good about keeping everything updated too which I can’t always say for Flying Saucer, World of beer or other chain suburban beer joints.
Based on what I and others I’ve been with have experienced, the food is very mediocre. Pizza was doughy. Other items are simply underwhelming. I actually had to come back and lower the food rating....it’s not good guys! |
62 /100 World of Beer - Katy (Bar) 2643 COMMERCIAL CENTER BLVD My second world of beer. Vast selection, but the service here the day I went was lacking. Average value, they do have some OK food. I’ll keep an eye on the tap list and only go in for rare / cool beers. |
56 /100 5373 FIRST ST Nice, pet friendly outdoor area to hangout with. Tap lines were absurdly long, inadequate restroom facilities. I know this is a new brewery and I’m sure they will get the kinks worked out soon. Like the atmosphere and the grain silo setting. |
64 /100 World of Beer - Katy (Bar) 2643 COMMERCIAL CENTER BLVD I had higher hopes for this place. They have TONS of beer. And they have plenty of good beer, I was just hoping for some kind of a specialty/rare/seasonal selection. (TONS of pale lagers and standard imports and for the craft breweries they basically just had the standard year round offerings.) The service was ok, but the place was a madhouse; I ordered a Unibroue and the guy didn’t know what I was talking about, but that’s ok, it’s a new place, and he’s likely never heard of most of the beers before. Prices are pretty steep considering that this place is in Katy. That being said, it is one of the few places on the west side of Houston to get a good beer, and the selection is better than any of the others. It’s a fine enough place, I just wasn’t personally impressed. |
66 /100 Whole Foods Market - Katy (Grocery Store) 6601 S FRY RD Of course, as with the others, it’s a really cool place to get groceries. And this one actually has a bar in it between the dairy and the beer coolers. That being said, for whole foods the selection is a touch small, but the taps make up for it. |
70 /100 Alamo Drafthouse - Katy, TX (Restaurant) 531 S MASON RD Just as fun as the one in san antonio. Good (but limited) selection of beer, good food, and good service. |
68 /100 Alamo Drafthouse - Katy, TX (Restaurant) 531 S MASON RD Fun place to catch a flick. The food is pretty good, I like the margherita pizza, and they have a pretty decent selection of beer. Some rotate. Good times, and I like how they have a stern attitude toward people using cell phones and being loud during the movies. You can also just hang out at the bar. |
92 /100 5373 FIRST ST Feels like real Texas, open air hang out, bring your own chair if you want. $5 gets you in, with a taster glass and four tokens. The selection is good, all four of their beers. They have live music and food from a local burger joint in town. They sell their merch, shirts, hoodies, hats, glasses, and coozies. The pint glasses are $7, $10 with the coozy; they’ll fill your pint glass if you have one, and you can bring it back each week. They are kid friendly, and lots of people bring their dogs too. Great time, real Southern feel. |
90 /100 5373 FIRST ST Family friendly, pet friendly. Live music sometimes and definitely outdoors. |
70 /100 The Public House (Bar) 22758 WESTHEIMER PARKWAY, SUITE 270 First public introduction of No Label Ridgeback - great neighborhood hangout (and it’s in the far suburbs). Management friendly. |
82 /100 5373 FIRST ST New brewery in Katy, TX. Their tastings are limited at this point as they are waiting on their large brewing equipment to arrive. The building is a cool old grain drying silo, which nicely puts most of the area for hanging out in the shade. They had three beers up for tasting when I went, and they were good, and the owners seemed cool too. I’ll definitely be going back. The Houston area has precious few breweries, so it will be nice to have one to enjoy within a reasonable distance from home.
Update MUCH later. Everything has expanded, from the buildings to the selection, etc. cool place for sure, with generally friendly service. |
78 /100 Einstein’s Pub (Bar) 873 MASON ROAD Nice place with a decent selection and food thats really quite good. |
72 /100 Einstein’s Pub (Bar) 873 MASON ROAD Hole-in-the-wall bar just off I-10 in Katy. Decent selection when you consider the location. Nice variety of European and US brews (along with the obligatory swill it’s the Houston area, after all), with a friendly staff and suitable food. If you’re in town, stop by for a pint or two. Look for it in the shopping center at the corner of Cimarron and Mason. Not a destination spot but like I said, if you’re in the area... |
