“I might have clicked and entered this place twice. July 2023: Barebottle’s newest location. Love it. Same vibe as other locations. In an upscale new shopping center. Easy parking. Same tap list as rye other locations, but I was still able to find a new rating. Bottle and can list was exceptionally complete this Sunday afternoon. Barebottle beers are always very good, and this location is no exception. Prices for a 5oz taster are the highest in the world: $5-$6, maybe because pours approach 8oz, which I don’t prefer. Anyway, awesome if you live nearby.“

“Can't believe I've never reviewed this place. It's been around forever. I remember getting food from here growing up when we'd visit family in Palo Alto. Visited here after going to the Stanford/Oregon football game as I really just wanted a snack and something to drink on the drive home after a long, hot day in the sun. The beer selection isn't necessarily the hugest or most interesting by modern standards, but it is pretty good. It's especially good since it's really one of the few good options in this part of the Bay Area which is more of a wine and cheese crowd. They do have some randomly good selections and deals, particularly on some sour beers and lambics. The store is kind of cramped is my only real criticism. Seeing as it's been probably a couple decades between the last two visits, not sure I'll be visiting again soon, but it's definitely worth a stop.“

“Dropped by, after visiting K&L. Immediately upon entering the door, you can tell this is a great store for beer. Two large racks at the entrance filled with Belgian sours and Trappist ales, including Armand and Gaston for only $17. On the way to the back you pass shelves of German beer racks, barrel aged racks, and in the back maybe 5 large coolers of local IPAs. Excellent. Also great eclectic selection of sodas, chocolates, etc.“

“Dropped by on the way to pick up bottles at K&L. Huge selection of 60 bottles, including 6 Trappist, a dozen sours, 6 stouts, and a plethora of IPAs, mostly local. The Philly cheesesteak was quite good. Recommended if you are in the area. During covid, tables are outside on a blocked street in an interesting area.“

“Dropped by on the way to pick up an order at K&L wines. Similar to other Bevmos, but the beer selection is much smaller. I did find a few Hermitage beers I’ve never tried. Pretty good, but not worth going out of your way.“

“Even during COVID times these guys have a great beer list (and you can get it to go if you pick up!). Well-curated selection of local stuff with some stuff you don't see elsewhere in the area + a nice selection of internationals on draft and in bottles (focused on Belgians). I'm underselling it a little but this is a really good spot. Also, the pastrami. I don't think I'm doing it justice. THE MOTHERF*CKING PASTRAMI!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!! I am not a man who is normally impressed by pastrami. I am a man who loves BBQ, the fattier the better. I would think about taking this pastrami over a super juicy, perfectly-seasoned brisket. I don't know if I would, I don't know if I wouldn't. I'm not a religious man but I might pray for guidance on this one. Or I'd just do lunch at The Refuge and dinner at ... I blush to say it, but Armadillo Willy's does a damn fine brisket ...“

“To damn with faint praise, probably the best BevMo I've been in. Decent selection of California / west coast stuff, local stuff I don't always see elsewhere. Also some oddball foreign macros and a good German shelf. Singles are a bit on the light side in terms of selection but I found some stuff here I'd never heard of (albeit not that much of it) so that's an improvement on your usual Bevmo.“

“A lot of the usual west coast American beers and some rather esoteric international stuff (I raided the Scandinavian shelf pretty good). Not spectacular but the Valley is a bit of a beer dead zone and this place is worth visiting if you live there. Excellent sandwiches as well.“

“Willows has the best selection for a beer store in Menlo Park/Palo Alto especially given this area is a beer wasteland, it deserves a higher rating than 80.“

“Absolutely amazing selection of beers, and usually interesting stuff in the spirits side as well. Prices can be a bit high, it’s Menlo Park. They do have a food truck festival every Monday evening (check their Facebook page for selection) and they do have BBQ and sandwiches inside, but their licensing does not allow on-site consumption of alcohol.“

“Visited the day after Thanksgiving. Am pleased there is a beer-centric place to go to during the 1-2 times per year that I am in town. Interestingly their tap beer list leans heavily toward Belgians, however, it is the handful of U.S. beers that stand out. As t0rin0 mentioned, it is odd, and annoying that they are closed from 2:30pm-5pm. Had hoped to go at 4:30pm prior to a 6pm dinner reservation but had to wait until 5. I also left with a bit of a strange impression about the service. Despite being one of the 1st patrons in the place, and sitting at the bar, it took awhile before someone took our order and I wouldn’t describe the service as particularly friendly. Still, I won’t hesitate to go again next time I’m in town.“

“Visited November 5, 2013.

I didn’t realize that was a second location of the other place by the same name until I read the other ratings here. To be honest I didn’t even look at a food menu to see if that was similar to the other location but the beer menu looked familiar (the formatting, not the actual beers served). I had a conversation with one of the employees as he balanced precariously on a flimsy step stool trying to write on the mirror behind the taps. I ordered a glass of the 21st Amendment He Said pumkin porter (not bad for what it is but it is a porter after all) and he gave me a free taster of the other He Said (a tripel). After asking about the Chouffe rubber mat on the bar he also gave me a mini taster glass with the Chouffe gnome on it and told me not to say anything. This service combined with the quiet and comfortable atmosphere and an all around good beer selection could get me to come back. Prices were high but considering a I got a glass out of the deal I didn’t mind paying $10 ($7+tax for the beer and I left the rest for the glass).

Be warned that they are closed between lunch and dinner (from 2:30 to 5). Parking isn’t always easy in this area but I had no problem finding something on Crane Street, which is a side street of sorts.“

“Visited November 5, 2013.

This is located on El Camino in a busy area but the shopping center has it’s own right turn lane and it’s own parking lot (all Bevmo’s do). The downside is that the entrance to the driveway is very narrow so if you’re not paying attention you might very well curb check. Inside is just another Bevmo. Beer is in the back right. Selection is standard but they have two-three aisles worth (not sure I count the one with the Budweiser 30-packs stacked up as a beer aisle). Lots of California-made beers, some kegs, some (the usual) imports, and some macros. They have a few fridges full of beer but it seems kind of random when it comes to exactly which beers are refrigerated and which ones aren’t. Pricing, selection, and service (and location, parking, cheese selection, and a bunch of other things) are average. Bevmo is great for getting the big name stuff but not always the most interesting.“

“Visited November 5, 2013.

This is located at the corner of two very busy streets. In fact Willow was so busy that the traffic was backed all the way up from 101. Luckily there is a center left turn lane on Middlefield and there are enough parking spots in the lot. As soon as I walked in I was impressed. Actually, before I walked in I was impressed by the claim of 1000 craft beers displayed in the window. Immediately upon entering you’ll see a couple of shelves with a lot of Belgian beer on them. I splurged and got a 750 of this years (and first ever distributed) Tilquin Quetsche plum lambic… for $36. They also had some other cool stuff on that shelf like 3 Fonteinen Golden Gueuze, Hanssens 750s, and Hanssens Oudebeitje. I spotted some Timmerman’s varieties which may not be the most popular but is something you don’t see every day. The rest of the beer is in the back in the fridges and in one aisle. There is a small section of eastern European and middle eastern beers. I spotted some Czech beers, some Lituanian beers, and even an Armenian beer. They have a sizeable German collection too. All this is on top of the good amount of American beers. Damn, how have I not been here before? I’ll definitely be coming back at some point. “

“The new Menlo Park location of this San Carlos mainstay. Same theme, same food menu. Not sure if they have the same taplist or not. Pretty good for what it is, and its nice to have one a little closer to home.“

“Now this place is the shit! From the outside it is just your average local market, but step inside and see the beer. The buyer knows his stuff, and he has ton’s of dedicated space. This might be the best selection in the mid-penninsula. A true gem in the rough. Prices range from extremely competetive to a little high, but they were running a 10% off clearance sale when I was there, which was pretty nice. Great selection of Lithuanian beers for some reason, if you are into that. :) Follow up: the selection is still good, but turnover is slow. Watch for old bottles. The 10% off sale is perpetual.“

“Went here hoping to get find some higher quality 6 or 12 packs than I was able to at other nearby stores. Although they had a larger selection, it was not a quality selection. This BevMo is really no different from most of them. Perhaps a little better selection than the Redwood City location, but coming here right after K&L Wine was particularly unimpressed with the quality of the overall beer selection.“

“My favorite local rare beer store and craft food market. It’s hard to go in and not spend a few hundred on beer without trying. When they have a full shelf of Mikeller and a huge selection of Belgians, it takes a lot to just pull me out of this place.“

“Fairly New BevMo. For folks on around Menlo Park/Redwood City. It is bigger than the Redwood City Store and seems to have a better selection of stuff than the store in Mountain View. I like it because its about 4 minutes from where I work. Lots of parking as well.“
