32 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE There'll be the odd new tick for most folk. That's no recommendation though. Cheap/poor beers only, for the most part |
58 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE Cheap place which usually has a couple of cheap ticks for me. |
100 /100 Top of the Hops (Bar) 11 REGENCY WEST MALL You won’t find a better bottle shop and craft beer pub in the area and there’s a lot of top contenders these days too. The selection of beers is fantastic, new and interesting stock is brought in weekly. The owners are friendly and the place has a welcoming ambiance. It’s worth your time! |
48 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE Downmarket as fuck, but occasionally has some interesting and rare beers. They've recently had some craft cans, as well as some limited editions by people like Innis & Gunn and Wychwood. |

76 /100 Top of the Hops (Bar) 11 REGENCY WEST MALL Beer store in Regency West Mall in Stockton with great selection of bottles/cans and 6 taps for growlers/drinking in. Nice atmosphere, a must visit when in Stockton. |
86 /100 Top of the Hops (Bar) 11 REGENCY WEST MALL The latest addition to Stockton's thriving craft beer scene. A top notch bottle shop and bar that always has some interesting beers on offer. The owner clearly knows his stuff. Well worth a visit. |
70 /100 Wasp’s Nest (Bar) 1 CALVERTS SQUARE Smart, stlyish pub just off the high street. Beer kept well. Three casks and a fridge full of cans. Service was quick and friendly. Not too expensive. |
50 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE Chain of stores across the UK generally sited on trading estates. The occasional find on the beer front, nothing incredibly exciting but worth looking at the beer shelves if you find yourself in one. |
46 /100 8 FINKLE STREET Sam Smiths pub in central Stockton located down a small historic square behind the high street on the side towards the river. Has afew taps of Sam Smiths standard offerings. No real ale handpulls in this establishment. |
60 /100 Looking Glass (Bar) 3 MACMILLAN CHAMBERS, PRINCE REGENT STREET Micropub in Stockton. Cosy room with main bar, up to 5 handpulls and afew keg taps. Well worth a visit. |
64 /100 Hope & Union (Bar) 9 SILVER ST Micro pub in redeveloped part of central Stockton next to the Wasps Nest. Four handpulls, 4 BIB ciders and multiple taps. Cage with bottles of beer (including Cloudwater & Bad Seed), wine & whiskey bottles for sale. Kitchen is on view and there is a window into the keg room. Food was good and staff were unphased when my beer festival glass fell out of my pocket and smashed spectacularly on the floor! Enjoyed the visit, recommended. |
62 /100 Wasp’s Nest (Bar) 1 CALVERTS SQUARE Micro pub in redeveloped area of central Stockton with afew handpulls and range of bottled beers. Cosy with OK selection. |
60 /100 Storytellers (Bar) 64 DOVECOT ST Located near the ARC in Stockton, public house with standard range of craft beers and a few handpulls. Venue for bands and comedy acts. |
70 /100 Wasp’s Nest (Bar) 1 CALVERTS SQUARE The Wasp’s Nest is a really nice bar for enjoying a beer or two. It is tastefully done out and has a pleasant atmosphere. There are three hand pumps all dispensing micro brewed ales with a range of styles on offer. There’s also a small fridge with a range of mostly UK craft beers that changes quite regularly. Some where a bit on the pricey side, but aside from that I really liked this place. |
72 /100 Golden Smog (Bar) 1 HAMBLETONIAN YARD A remarkably good pub by Stockton standards. 4 hand pumps offering fairly intersting local ales plus a couple of craft keg. Wylam Double Jakehead was on during our visit which was a great find. There are a few interesting beers from UK craft brewers in the fridges, along with plenty of Belgians and Germans plus the odd US beer. Small but cosy. Great pub. |
78 /100 Golden Smog (Bar) 1 HAMBLETONIAN YARD Cosy micropub in an alley off Stockton highstreet, with 4 real ales and 2 ciders on handpulls plus lots of bottles including Belgium beers. Friendly service with tasters offered. The bar is at one end of the (smallish) main room with tables & chairs, already afew customers but plenty of seating was still available when visited mid-week around 5pm. Has stairs going to another level but didn’t a chance to explore that. Well worth seeking out. |
70 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE This review is of two stores (Wellington and Newport, both in Shropshire). The newport branch always has a better selection of beers than the Wellington one as it is slightly larger. Both sell a changing range of beers bought in ’fire sales’ or so it seems. I always pop into the stores when ever I am in the areas because you never know what might turn up. Great prices always, even if there are no new beers to buy and try. Jolly staff at the checkouts, know nothing about beer though. |
60 /100 Thomas Sheraton (JDW) (Bar) 4 BRIDGE ROAD JDW pub in Stockton, just off the end of the High Street with 12 handpulls. Roomy traditional interior with upper balcony level and usual JDW cheap prices, food and beer festivals. |
36 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE Big B&M Bargains that always has a decent range of bottled real ale that regularly changes at bargain prices. |
66 /100 Thomas Sheraton (JDW) (Bar) 4 BRIDGE ROAD At the end of the High Street close to the main river crossing to Thornaby, this Wetherspoon pub is very familiar in style and look but it does have a nice layout, with an upstairs balcony to compliment and to facilitate looking down on the main area. The balcony area itself is small and lacks the atmosphere of below, but it does provide the access to the upper patio. There is also a ground floor patio area so there’s a fair choice of open air drinking and dining if the weather allows. On the ground floor the front and back have bookshelf areas making these the cosiest places to sit, although most places are convivial. The L-shaped bar has two rows of ale pumps. |
64 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE I went in at the weekend and I’d guess they had between twelve and fifteen different ales, including a few I’d not had or not heard of before and for a reasonable price too. |
42 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE Surprising choice only recently found out bout this place great prices for beer so would maybe go again |
54 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE Bargain store chain with stores across England, Wales, N.Ireland, and Southern Scotland. Stores tend to be in socially and economically deprived areas (at least the ones I know are). Licensed stores, (check before visiting) usually have decent/interesting beers, and, to a lesser extent, lagers for sale at good value prices. Can be hit-and-miss depending on stock, but I’ve had some good stuff cheap. Oh, they also seel a good selection of macro-swill cheap. |
54 /100 B&M Bargains U.K Chain (Grocery Store) UNIT B, PORTRACK LANE A surprising amount of choice at decent prices & some good beers that don’t seem to be readily available many other places. Can’t fault it really. |
