“My local craft stop has just enough to suit my needs! Has a very solid single selection, good discounted beer, and all the DE local stuff. Just wish they had a growler station!“

“I just moved to Dover from an area that had some of the beer liquor stores 1 could ask for. This store allows u to make your own 6 pack which is rare in the area & the selection is pretty solid. I have never been asked if I needed any help & the food selection is maybe a few bags of chips? This store is better then what I was expecting to find in the lower end of DE. Not great by any means but certainly manageable & will probably be my go-to place in the area.“

“Highly recommended; obviously a very knowledgeable staff. Can’t beat the tour value... 5 bucks gets you five beers and a glass. Very nice experience.“

“Very nice place, (a bit hipster like, but OK) food is great, and they have a wide variety of beer on tap, bottle and cans... Knowledgeable bartenders (at least the chick that took care of us). Very enjoyable experience, highly recommended.“

“Stopped by for a few samples and were treated exceptionally well by Lauren. Had about 6 beers and a quick tour of the joint. Decent brews and folks who take pride in their product. Keep an eye out for events as it seems they could be a lot of fun here.“

“Liquor Store. Just the fact that they let you create your own six pack is great, but on top of that the staff is quite knowledgeable and attentive. they have a nice section dedicated to craft beer. and the have lots of variety. Great place. “

“Nice place, they allowed us to visit during the non-tour hours, we just e-mailed ahead. Hostess really knew the beer and let us try everything. Nothing for sale, it was tastings only.“

“Since we were in the area after touring DFH this seemed like another close-by brewery to check out. Comparatively this is a much smaller craft brewery, but about ~25 were on the tour which is pretty damn good! $5 got you 5 nice sized samples and a glass. Tour could have used amplification or something for the large group BUT otherwise the guide handled us well. My only critique as a brewery is to figure out their name(s). I only recently learned that Fordham = Old Dominion = Coastal Brewery. Streamlining so people know it’s all one company would help branding.“

“These guys are pretty awesome, the main problem? They have an identity crisis... are they fordham, old dominion or coastal breweries? They need a name and identity. They have a great team focused on detail. Also they want everyone happy with some beer. They are growing and I think have a bright future.“

“Nice brewpub though fairly hard to find in an industrial park. Huge selection of their beers, and many guest beers. Not amazing, but if you’re in this area, it gives you a good chance to pick up a large number of Old Dominion and Fordham brews.“

“Took us a while to find it - it’s buried in an industrial park. 7:00 on a Saturday night and there were maybe 4 people at the bar and maybe 3 or 4 families in booths. Very sterile, lacking character and personality. This place is soulless. Regarding the beers - they had a Chocolate Coffee Stout, a Chocolate Porter, a Coffee Stout and Oak Barrel Stout - all flavored. How about trying to brew a straight up porter or stout that’s good instead of masking the flavors with unnecessary additions. All of the beers we had were disappointing - flavorless, weak and watery. We were very surprised. Food was ok, but there was no style to the menu - thai, spaghetti, chili, steaks, etc. all on the same menu. Food was ok, but we left most of it on the bar uneaten. I guess if you live in this area and there are so few good beer bars and or brewpubs, this would be the default place to go. Otherwise, if you’re visiting the area, don’t make a special trip here. We were very surprised to hear they’re owned by Budweiser now. In fact, their tap lineup had Bud, Bud Light and Bud Select.“

“Worth a visit if you’re on the way to Dulles and have a couple hours to kill. I’d rather eat/drink here than in the airport. The beers are solid but nothing special. The food and service are pretty average.“

“This brewpub seems to lye a bit out of the way - a good 30 minute drive out of DC, in a area mostly inhabited by office buildings - is it to cater to after work beer? I find the location odd and not very cozy. The interior is Your standard US brewpub, no frills. Except for the number of taps - I don’t think I’ve ever been to a brewpub with this many beers on tap. The food was decent - and so are the beers. Will I return? probably not - because of the location.“

“Here during the RBSG in 06. Had some tasty fried cheese and kraut along with a tasty chicken sandwich. A crap ton of crappy beers in their sampler. Nice oak barrel stout. Friendly service. Lots of kids in the bar area. No TVs, which is nice. I could come here for the food all the time. Almost like a warehouse though.“

“Had a wide selection of a ton of low-gravity pale ales, lagers, and blander styles when I was there in July. The Oak-Barrel Stout is nice, but not worth the long haul from the city out there. Otherwise, better than your average brewpub.“

“Don’t go to this place for anything except a decent tour and a asmpling of their fairly boring, but decent beers. The brewpub offers just about the worst service you can ever imagine anywhere; not just indifferent, but openly hostile and rude.“

“This place is hidden in an industrial park close to Dulles Airport. Large selection of Dominion beers available on tap, maybe 15-18, and also some available in bottles.“

“Somewhat hard to find, but if you get to the end of the street you’ll see the kegs. Good staff, know their beers. Food was OK, but not stellar. Excellent beer selection, many not available in bottles. Oak Barrel on tap is the star! Decent prices overall. I like the 4-oz individual idea - really lets you go the run of the beers, and exclude what you don’t want (as opposed to just ordering a sampler). "Ambiance" is just above a Golden Corral - lol.“

“Hard to find. I’m not from around here, when weI got the industrial park... a lady at a bake sale asked us if we were looking for the brewery. The place is clean, nothing special in the way of decor or ambiance. The food is very good, I had a chicken dish that was out of this world. The Beer is top notch. They had a beer on tap that was not available outside the brewery...that always makes the trip worth it. Again, hard to find, but well worth it.“

“I love to drink the Oak Barrel stout on tap. Usually a good seasonal on tap that’s not available in bottles. Excellent appetizers. Good food. Fifteen taps or more. Very slow, sometimes friendly service if you sit in the area around the bar. Can’t really speak for the rest of the retaurant as I’ve only sat away from the bar once... a long, long time ago. A "must visit" when in the D.C. metro area.“

“The brewpub is oddly located in an industrial park and difficult to get to unless you are familiar with the area. Here’s a tested itinerary: Go to the Air & Space museum at 10 am and quickly book the 11am round trip shuttle tickets ($6 – ask for a 5 pm return) to the Udvar-Hazy museum annex at Dulles airport. A 45 minute ride each way. Enjoy the museum annex until 1 pm, then go the info desk and ask for a cab ($19-22 fare each way) to bring you to Old Dominion (about 6 miles away from Dulles). Bring directions (check out Old Dominion’s website) just in case. When you are ready to leave, call the same cab service (703-661-6655) to bring you back to the space museum in Dulles. If you can still stand up after all the great beers, enjoy the museum some more and shuttle back to the main museum. Old Dominion is worth the hassle getting there and you do NOT want to be the designated driver. The beer menu will blow your mind and it’s hard to pick among all the interesting offerings. Try the 4-beer flights for about $4.50 and get some fresh 6-packs in the gift section. The beer-based food is above average and plentiful. I had the fish and chips plate and enjoyed the Irish stout, New River pale ale, Tupper’s Hop pocket ale, Winter ale, Oak barrel stout, Old Dubliner amber, Pale ale, and the Mojab red ale. Old Dominion rocks! Loved this place and will definitely come back.“

“The brewery is located in an industrial park off of RT 28 in Ashburn, tucked toward the back of the park on Gilford Road. Old Dominion is first and foremost, a microbrewery, but has a restaurant also attached to the the brewery. Here you can eat some pretty tasty pub grub, exciting entrees, and more importantly, try some Dominion beers, fresh on draught, at the source. How about this for choices? The brewpub at Old Dominion offers an average of 30-50 taps of beer, fresh on draught, including two beer engines that dispense cask conditioned ales. The full range of Dominion beers will be found, as well as specialty beers Old Dominion brews for contract accounts, and special one off beers. Kegs and bottled beers can also be purchased at the brewery. But why pay for beer! Take a tour of the brewery, and not only will you get one of the most informative, and educational brewery tours around, you will get all the free beer you can drink while on the tour.“

“The best brewery in the DC area. However, getting there from DC is a pain. Aside from its location, it’s hands down amazing. Food is OK, about 20 beers available on draft. The Beer Festival in June is fun to go to. Haven’t done the brewery tour, but if you live near Dulles Airport it’s worth going to.“

“Revisited Sep 05: I used to love this place in an out of the way industrial park (their original location expanded to included a brewpub). But on my most recent visit, the overworked staff suuuuucked, and the food plain was really bad. They have a big selection of pretty good beers, though, so of course I’ll be back.“

“Love this place! Located in the weirdest of weird spots; in the middle of a corporate park but once inside, it’s a very nice, wide open comforatable place to eat and drink. Crowd is a mix of young and middle aged locals. Most of great Dominion beers are available on tap. They still may have a few rare Oak Aged Millenium Bottles available if you ask the bartender. The Oak Barrel Stouf on tap here is just amazing, better than the bottle for sure. Great food and service. The brewery tour is fun too. Most definitely worth a visit if you have the time.“

“Decent beer, service needs serious work. Out in the boondocks, hard to find as well. I went there one day for lunch, drove 70 miles from my house, and some pimply faced teenager was supposed to greet you at the door. By the time I was 1/2 way to the bar, she finally got off her lazy ass, and asked if I wanted a place to sit. Gee. You think?“

“I went with Kasta and a group of about 7 (less beeriologically) interested others. It took about an hour to get a table which I didn’t mind because Kasta and I managed to rate two flights in that time period. Beer was good to excellent - especially that oak barrel stout - YUM! The food was ordinary Pubfare but well sized and very filling. Overall definitely worth a visit but don’t expect a mystic experience. Oh and the barman had never heard of RB so I did a liitle free PR and he gave Kasta and I a flight for nicks!“

“Haul, shmaul. Dominion’s located in the most attractive of locales, the industrail park. Still, being off the Dulles Toll Road/28 area it’s pretty easy to get to, and really isn’t that bad of a trip if you already live in the ’burbs. Huge selection of beers on tap, any place that carries 20+ of their own brews deserves extra points in my book. Food is pretty good for pub fare, nothing fancy but has always been tasty. Another bonus is the brewery always seems to have some kind of a case discount where you can walk out with a case of Dominion Ale for $15 or something, apparently some kind of attempt to clear out old stock. Basically, you can get growlers of Oak Barrel Stout here. In the end, that’s all you need to know.“

“I had a fun outing with Kathy and Argo0 to the Old Dominion on February 8 with stops at Norm's and Whole Foods in Vienna. I was initially taken back by the modern industrial park atmosphere but hey - its about the beer isn't it? Not really because at the Old Dominion the food and beer is really good. I sampled 4 beers and had a wonderful Turkey & Cheddar Sandwich with an Onion Soup. The food was on par with the Syracuse Suds Factory in Syracuse, NY - still in the pubfare range but done to perfection.“

“Have gone here twice. Most recently on 1-10-04 with jeffc666 and his wife. The beer both times was phenomenal. The Oak Barrel Stout is worth the trip alone. Yes, I think it's that good. I cannot recall what I ate last time, but it left a very good impression. This time, I got the BBQ sandwich with spicy coleslaw and fries. Also got the veggie quesadillas. Both were great. My girlfriend ordered a sampler of some beers that are not bottled and I got a couple pints of the Oak Barrel Stout. It was as great as I remembered back in May before my Belgium trip. I also purchased a growler of the Oak Barrel Stout for around $20. Pretty good for the growler ($14) plus 2 liters worth of stout ($6). The prices for everything were very reasonable as well. I would recommend traveling here if in the area, but it can be hard to find. I missed it the first time as it is in an industrial park.“

“Even though I live in the Northern VA suburbs it is still a haul for me, but a haul well worth it. They always have about 25+ beers on tap, including the excellent Oak Barrel Stout. The food has improved dramatically recently, it is still typical fare but it is much better than it used to be. 2L Growlers, kegs of various sizes, as well as seasonal bottles are available for purchase. There is also a rotating cask beer (typically Tupper’s Hop Pocket). They also offer brewery tours on the weekends.“
