“Visited here on a rainy Saturday afternoon in mid-December '23. Great downtown location in an old, restored Waterworks Building. Lots of old brick and character. Have about ten to a dozen on tap, available in generous half pours or full pints. A few cans in the fridge. Good variety of styles represented my favorite was their Sermon on the Stout - a solid coffee pastry stout. Small bar, seats about eight, plenty of tables scatted about as well as outdoor seating. A few TVs in the corner, but not the main focus here. They have rotating food trucks did not partake this time around. Friendly, attentive staff, reasonable prices. While not a problem today, I understand parking can be a bit of a challenge, but worth the walk. highly recommended, will be on my regular rotation.“

Beer Stop (Beer Store)

“Stop here while I was visiting the in-laws. They have a vast selection of beers with a mass unorganized method of shelving. While the selection is awesome, the price is on the high side. Service was helpful but not actively available. If you value selection over price this is worth a stop.“

“Went here back in 2010 after stopping at Best Buy. While it's not the beer scene everyone thinks a place should be, this place gets an eclectic selection of world beers and staples around the USA.“

“Small brewery located next to the Fermentation Lounge as they are associated with each other. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Pretty diverse selection of styles on top. All the beers were pretty good. Only real downside was there just about no parking close by.“

“Visited here recently, not the easiest to get into parking lot and once there not many spaces as it's in a strip of business. The selection was on point and the staff really knew their stuff. Was able to get a few crowlers to share with Non-RB DrDan and MrsSHIG.“

“Stopped here with MrsSHIG when we were visiting her family. Nice spacious location near downtown. Parking is a pain, but seating is not. They have plenty of beers on tap and some non-alcoholic choices for the driver. Staff knew the beers.“

“Finally made it out too Deep after all my visits to my in-law's house. At first, I was thrown off by the location which seemed to pop up out of a residential area and situated next to a medical supply store. Decent amount of outdoor and indoor seating. They had a decent selection on tap, plus cans and bottles to go if you wanted. Service was very friendly. If you get a chance take a look.“

Beer Stop (Beer Store)
1350 E TENNESSEE ST
“Liquor store with pretty good beer selection. There has to be close to 500 different beers in here. Beers from all around US from Trillium to Grimm and Libertine sours, Transient and Prairie imperial stouts. lots of stuff from Europe including lambics and Wild Creatures sours. Lots of stuff seemed to be sitting there from some time though. Service is almost non existent. Splashed almost 30 bucks on Last Buffalo in the Park so it is somewhat pricey.“

“Quite a bit outside of town center,. Medium sized taproom with patio outside. Not very busy during our afternoon visit. 16 taps, most of the beers (13 I believe) were IPAs and Berliners. Bit sterile ambiance and service did not struck me as very friendly. Had to come here to pick up my Oznr bottle, next time I'd go for their second location.“

“Visited here in late October '22, been waiting a while for this place to open and about time this town got one of these. Typical Total Wine, which is a good thing for a ticker like me. Hundreds of singles, lots of Florida breweries represented, not quite as many singles as other total Wines I have visited. Laid out nicely, by style and a special section for seasonals. Does not appear to have a growler station if that is what you are looking for but do seem to have weekly tastings. Cigar humidor, more wine and liquor than you can shake a stick at.“

“Visited here on a Saturday afternoon in mid-July '22. Big, wide-open space located in a suburban shopping mall in the Northeast side of town. Has a large bar area, plenty of tables and high tops spread out in two rooms and a large patio out back. Have about 15 or so of their beers on tap, like their other locations, the focus is on sours and hazy IPAs. As this is also a distillery, they also offer spirits by the glass and in bottles. Food is available as well, appetizers and entrees. Very flavorful, but a but pricey - loaded tater tots were $8 for four. Beer as always was delicious, great crowd, attentive service. Great addition to the Northeast which has been in need of a brewery for a long time.“

“Newest location with lots of space, food and coffee. Staff is very knowledgable and helpful. Plenty of stuff on tap about, 20 of 25 had beers on. Mostly lean toward fruit sours/Berliner beers, but few IPAs and dark beers. Well worth a stop!“

“Visited here on a Saturday afternoon in late January '22. Nice place, nice and airy and well lit. Separate dining area and bar are which has a few TVs. Hefty tap and bottle/can list of local and regional craft and a few national brands, numbers into at least the 50's. Prices were decent, most pints were $5 or $6. Solid brewpub type menu, burgers, sandwiches, wings etc. Friendly service. Great addition to the Northeast side of town and a great place to watch a game.“

“Visited here in late December '21 on a Wednesday evening. Great location near FSU's campus, locals will remember as the former location of GrassLands Brewery. Huge outdoor space, plenty of high tops and picnic tables, some nautical decorations about to give it a Gulf feel. Inside is kind of cramped, about a half dozen seats at the bar a few butcher-block tables. Beer is pretty solid, they've been in business about seven years down in Apalachicola. Have about a dozen on tap, all the requlars you see around town on tap and in cans and a few one-offs like Peanut Butter Porter and Blood Orange IPA. No on premise food but appear to have an arrangement with Gaines Street Pies net door as I saw at least three of their pizzas being delivered while I was there. Nice addition to Tallahassee.“

“I've heard great things about them and finally got a chance to stop in while attending a family wedding in Tally. This was an medium sized location with bar and tables. “Update - 12/26/20 - they have moved the taproom a few doors down and added a new spacious beer garden - great outdoor area with plenty of heaters in the cold. Original - Visited here early on a Saturday evening in mid December '19. Tucked away in an industrial/warehouse type area on the east side of town. Spartan quarters, three small rooms with a few picnic tables, no real bar sitting (not good for solitary patrons). Have about eight of their own on tap, solid as usual. Also have a small cooler with several of their own cans for sale. Nice to have a new place to go to on this side of town,“

“Located at a busy corner in the NE quadrant of Tallahassee, easily the sixth establishment to stake their claim here. Good place to watch sports, more TVs than you can shake a stick at. A few local craft on tap, a few national craft and one is always on special. If quantity and not quality is your thing while watching a three hour game, Bud is only$2.50 a 12 oz "pint" in a frozen glass. Solid, sports bar accented menu, prices reasonable, service friendly and prompt.“

“Stopped for gas and beer on my way through Tallahassee. My first thought when pulling up was this must be some sort of a mistake. From outside it has the look of a slightly run down gas station. I dutifully gassed up and then went inside to poke around. The selection amounts to an entire aisle and two or three coolers worth of singles. A lot of stuff from abroad, which didn’t interest me, but also a decent selection of out of state brews. Coming from Germany, most all of it was new to me. Loaded up with a couple of 4 packs of mixed singles. Service was friendly. The taco restaurant next door was also very good. A nice stop.“

“In Tallahassee? Driving through on I-10? Go. Big, clean, new, classy. If you make one craft beer stop in #TLH then make this the one. Beer is great, food is tasty pubgrub (hot, crisp, seasoned well.) Staff is dynamite. This is a world class brewpub/brewery making world class beer.“

“Visited here for the soft opening and the grand opening - overly impressed both times. I have been a loyal customer of Liquor Loft which transformed into Proof since 2007. Since their humble beginnings as a liquor store in a converted plasma donation center to this grand glorious brewpub, they have raised the bar and done everything the right way. Three main areas, indoor, covered outdoors, and outdoors. Plenty of games, cornhole, ping pong, foosball to name a few. Big TVs all around for sports. Beer as always is top notch - all the Proof favorites plus a few guest taps. Best service in town. New addition to the scene is Proper, a food vendor serving up delicious appetizers and entrees. I had the Chicken and Waffles and they were great - easy on the wallet as well. A must visit if in Tallahassee for any amount of time.“

“Have visited a few times, including with Mrs. Owl for her birthday in April of 2018; never rated it I guess, didn't even think to look on here at the time. Like PorterPounder says, it's a hip cocktail bar, really. You can get some really delicious and cool fancy cocktails here you won't see anywhere else in town. Not super craft beer centric but we'd definitely be back if visiting!“

“How did I never rate this place? Visited a million times when I lived in the south and still would visit if visiting Tallahassee. Giant delicious pizza and a pretty decent selection of craft beers to boot, so no complaints from me. This place has a soft spot for me having lived in Tallahassee for 3 years, so Mrs. Owl and I go back whenever we visit. The pizza and calzones are great and the buffalo sticks are fucking awesome! Used to be a brewery but alas isn't anymore, unfortunately.“

“Had visited once or twice before, but visited again mid-April, 2018 while on a trip for Mrs. Owl's birthday. In a strip mall-y area down Apalachee. Dimly lit, strikes a bit like a dive bar, not super clean, lots of wood, but turns out they have a pretty good selection of local and regional beers and some other tasty stuff. You can order from the bar, get growlers, etc., or get a card and go pour your own beers. I've done both. When I first went it was confusing that the bartender could either pour me beer or I could do it myself - why not commit to one? I'd be back for rates if I were back in town.“

“Visited mid-April 2018 on a trip to Tallahassee for Mrs. Owl's birthday. Small-ish place on a main road. Small bar area with decent sitting space and a tiny outdoor area. We sat at the bar and had a couple flights. Okay beer, okay service. The place struck me as being a bit bro-y for some reason. If we still lived down there, we'd be back for ticks, but didn't find anything super special about it.“

“A cool spot off the beaten path. Friendly staff and customers. Good music playing. They have a food truck for when they are open (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). “Typical Costco, big warehouse space, over-sized quantities of stuff you don't really need but the price sucks you in. “Updated Rating - The renovation gave the place a lot of space and ambiance. Big humidor. Parking is a little harder, perhaps. The focus is definitely on local beers - lots of Florida representation. The beer section is underrepresented now though. Updating my rating. Old one is obsolete. Lots of micros, lots of big, limited run bombers. Three medium-sized aisles of micros and a large fridge wall. Unibroue, Bells, garden variety Cigar City, Founders, Ommegang, Southern Tier, Ballast Point, Mission, Stone, Nectar, Orval, Chimay, lots of common Belgians. Plus lots of macros and Sam to fill your fishing cooler. Clean. Kind of party central in Midtown. Prices are average.“

Updated RatingJust remodeled and the corporate hooligans took over. Very few singles, no bombers, avoid at all costs. Can't wait until a Total Wine comes to town and drives this place out of business. Previous rating 90 Updated Rating As of March ’14 they now have a growler filling station with about 10 or so regional brewers and a few national craft selections - great addition! $3.99 for the first empty growler which you can back and fill for just the cost of the bear from then on. Engine 15, Cigar City, Victory, Swamphead - a few that they had on hand. Updated Rating Stop by at least every other week and they always have something new - for a ticker like me - that is what I am looking for. Original Part of a large chain that is found throughout Florida - and one of several in Tallahassee - this one seems to have the largest selection. Nothing rare or hard to find here - your typical German/British/Belgian commons and most are sold as singles. Better selection than your average grocery store though. Sadly, few US micros though. Has a large selection of gourmet snacks such as cheese, meats, crackers and condiments. Walk in cigar humidor is nice. Not a beer geek’s paradise by any means, but if you are going to go to an ABC while you are in Tallahassee, this is the one to hit.“

“Great Burger place that’s been around for a year or two now. Have about 16 beers on tap, a few regionals, a rotating Founder’s tap and they also have local favorite Proof on tap. Their bar specialty is loaded milkshakes, thick, sinful and delicious! Menu is more than just burgers, but they are delicious. All the regulars plus a few surprises such as a Thai chili with peanut butter. They also salads, chicken sandwiches and a wide choice of sides, My favorite are the Brussels sprouts. This has become our go to burger place in town which is becoming saturated with them.“

“Large patio area with lounging. Lots of taps. Weird food, kinda institutional and all looks and tastes like it was taken out of a food service package. Beer is expensive. No real happy hour, no lunch special. Lots of regional beers, so the selection is decent but the prices are just prideful. Noisy as all hell - it’s like sitting in a galvanized trash can. Disappointed - this could be a good spot but too many flaws.“

“A smallish joint on a sidestreet. Clean, but they’re cramped and it gets deafening. Friendly folks. Parallel parking and a small lot across the street, but there’s always a slot within a hundred yards someplace. Chinese food next door. The beers are solid generally, and they’re working out their recipes and systems. They’ve currently got 6 of their own on tap, plus wine. Flights. Needs a patio. Promising.“

“Visited here on their second day of official business in mid June ’17 with Aurelius and my son. Seem to have their act together already which is nice. Great location, right on the outskirts of the Midtown area of Tallahassee. No frills tap room, small bar area with a flat screen and about 8 stools, A handful of tables and standing stations are off to the right, brewing equipment is right there. Had six on tap, a Alt, New England IPA, Berliner, Pale Ale, Blonde and a Stout. All were pretty solid except for the pale ale which had some quality issues, I’m sure they will get it worked out, friendly, talkative, energetic staff who handle the opening crowd well. Will be a frequent stop on the weekends.“

“Visited September 2016 with PorterPounder and Aurelius. Small taproom, another one in Tally with weird hours or something, I gather, so check before you go. Friendly and mildly knowledgeable service. Beers were weird at this one - ranged from really good to pretty awful/diacetyl - complete hit or miss. Worth a stop if you’re in the area, but not a destination. I’d rank them right around Lake Tribe, maybe a touch better, but definitely better than Grasslands, yet a far cry from being up to par with Proof.“

Food is pretty authentic, reminds me of what you get from a Taco truck, prices pretty reasonable, basic tacos were $3 each. “Updating rating: Deep is really committed to continual improvement. The beer is malt forward, and more in a euro-vein than being all about heavy-handed west coast hops. There's a dedicated food truck with some killer chow. The taproom is smallish but nicely appointed. The staff and owner are salt of the earth, service-oriented and personable. They need to get a more prominent place. Beer is very good, atmosphere is very good, selection and ambiance much improved since 2016. Old rating: Kinda hard to get to, open limited hours. Super personable and friendly staff. Industrial, small tap room where you can wander freely into the actual brewing equipment. Only house beers. Beer is decent, needs some practice and bigger/better facilities. As my dad used to say, they’re really proud of their beer, meaning their prices are high. Beer bus stop.“
