Iíve been brewing for close to 15 years and have a couple ribbons to my name and usually try to hit a lhbs when I travel. I have never been treated this shi!!y. I would not recommend them nor would I go back even in a dire homebrew emergency. I seldom post comments but just wanted to get the word out about this place.

Amazing experience! I am new to home brewing, and was obviously intimidated walking into Heartís Home Brew for the first time. The store is FULL of everything a novice, intermediate and expert brewer could ever need. The store provides online ordering and shipping, online ordering for pickup, and in-store purchasing...which easily explains the "warehouse" look of the place. The beauty of this place came when I walked in. Like I said, I am NEW to home brewing, and needed a few item to fill in the holes in my kit. The owner, while finishing up with another guest, offered me assistance with finding what I needed. I read off my list, and he pointed me in the right direction. He did not make me feel like a burden or a nuisance because I had questions about supplies. I ended up having a nice conversation with him after my purchase. The owner is passionate about what he does, and that enthusiasm was apparent during our brief conversation. Although a little out of my way, Heartís Home Brew has convinced me the there is no reason to pay shipping costs to an online store, when I can get everything I need from a competent, locally-owned business.

if i could give the service a 0 i would. to say their attitude has gotten better over the years is an insult. they do however offer a local option for a decent to good selection and good value, but only if you wanted to get treated like a noob asshole. i felt like an asshole giving them a "26." that seems WAY TOO HIGH. just go on, order your stuff, and donít ask any questions. whatever you do, donít seek this LHBS for any questions what-so-ever. thereís a book for that. assholes.

I have been there many times and every time i go I always say Iíll never go back, but then i end up needing something and go back. Every time I ask questions I get short answers that always carry the tone of "damn who doesnít know that..." overall I will never go there again after a accumulation of these bad experiences. Iíd rather wait 3 days and order online and get better prices even including shipping then go back to this place. They need to learn customer service and how to welcome the customer rather then acting like whoever walks in the door is an inconvenience. I know for a fact that if there was another home brew shop in the area they would be out of business within weeks.

You people are ridiculous. Iíve been going to hearts for a while now and have never had any problems with these men and have found their store, although cramped and pretty cluttered, to be the best. Iíve actually spoken with Luke and Dave who, if you shake their hand and talk to them like theyíre people, are kind, knowledgeable, and generally very helpful. What Iíve gleaned from speaking with them is that theyíve had the store for over 20 years, they earned all those awards on their wall, and they know what theyíre doing. All I see in these comments is "boo hoo why wonít they answer my questions in detail and maybe write me out some complicated instructions before I go." And then you all probably bought like 5 dollars worth of stuff. Your little walk in business, although it is still business, isnít worth it if youíre going to spend an hour in the store asking them to teach you how to brew. Go read a book on home brewing, hell you can get one from the library for free or maybe take a class, once youíre done with the book maybe youíll have some reasonable questions that they will answer. Stop acting like damned children and realize that itís a store not a classroom. Hearts has definitely got something you canít get anywhere else, but if you canít be reasonable and decent to the men that run the store I doubt they will miss your business too much.

I decided to make an order for some supplies and pick up in store and was kind of taken back by how grumpy the service was. The prices are fair, but I donít think Iíll do a lot of business with them just simply because I felt like I was wasting their time.

I was recently in Hearts and I was very disappointed in my first visit. The store seemed to be packed with all kinds of good stuff, however finding what you wanted was like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. The store is very disorganized, however that may be the system these guys like. When I arrived with a recipe I asked about a few things. The gentleman on duty did not seem to be interested in me or my needs. He did however put together my order right away. I was informed that I should be doing my searching on their website (which in my opinion is more difficult to navigate than the store.) From now on I will be mail ordering all my products from a different business due to the lack of customer service, disorganization, and toll/gas costs to get to Hearts. Hopefully they can change the way they do business, maybe even hold some classes. Until then I will continue to do business with my old LHBS in Indiananapolis. Good luck guys.

The two guys that own and run this place are hands down the most difficult, abrasive and unprofessional people Iíve ever come in contact with. The shop is a shithole and their service will leave you thinking that a day at the department of motor vehicles is actually not that bad. After about a dozen visits over the past year or so I can honestly say that mail order is the best way to go! These guys might have ribbons, banners and awards decorating their establishment, but anyone can go to the arts and crafts store and buy this stuff... On EVERY occasion Iíve been there Iíve left with elevated blood pressure and an extreme displeasure with spending a penny there. Most recently I told my wife of the near yelling match I had with one of them - basically asking them for a part that they told me I shouldnít need. All the while trying to replace a part I purchased from them to start! Forgive my "consumer nature" to spend money at your establishment - sell me the part and let me decide if I need it. Donít argue with me about IF I need it! Save yourself the frustration - donít support these guys! I agree 100% with others in saying: If there was another option locally these guys would be unemployed in less than a month! Northernbrewer.com = awesome for everything: parts, supplies, questions - these guys rock! Williamsbrewing.com or Midwestsupplies.com are also excellent options!

ambiance: small cramped and barely organized. service? HA! Youíre best bet is to order online, pick it up, avoid eye contact and get out quickly without asking them to do anything. There are two gentlemen that works there, one seems to be in a slightly better mood than the other, but itís a close call. Iím not sure how long they have been around, but however long, itís taken a toll on them. Letís just say, theyíve lost that sparkle in their eye. ok, for the good side of things. They sell A LOT of ingredients, so you can always count on fresh breiss lme, hops, and lme. beer selection is very good, but all is kept in a refrigerated case. great selection of ingredients, but customer service could be better.
